If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
Never quit,
Alex

You're absolutely right that working for poor people does not bring enough income to sustain oneself.
I would love to setup some template for poor and stupid people to become prosperous, not neccessarily wealthy. Starting from the absolute bottom, with some idiot like myself.
But how many people are going to buy million dollar cars? Not very many. You going to bet your business on that? I know more wealthy people who sell large quantities of products to large amounts of customers not the other way around hoping a very specific niche of a few very wealthy people might buy 1 or 2 products from them someday. That's freaking ridiculous nonsense, and who is to say or promise that it will ever even sell ever? Your on drugs man. Even idiots now a days can become wealthy.
Come on Alex, don't ignore me. I am really skilled, work hard an I will charge only 1% of your net worth.
but this is not a secret, the competition is insanely high when it comes to sell to the rich people, plus most of us don't have access to these people, and usually they got influenced by their managers not by random sales men!
Below is a quick summary of the key points from this insightful video:
1. Sell to rich people until you have the money to sell to all the poor people. The middle is where you get killed.
2. You lack priorities, not information. Problems are easy to solve if you know what you are after.
3. Things are hard because your team isn’t as good as you think they are. Your standards are too low.
4. Lots of rules mean you have dumb people.
5. If you want to get bigger, get better. Better leads to growth; bigger leads to bloat.
6. You work all day but you can’t get anything done because you allow too many things that don’t matter to distract you. Sometimes you have to let the fires burn.
7. A brand takes a long time to build but is the most valuable thing you can own.
8. You need to know the inputs and outputs of your money-making system, broken down to the absolute smallest action, so that you can crank the hell out of it.
9. Stop looking for hacks.
10. The best people cost more but make way more than they cost.
11. The big, obvious thing is the problem, not the hundred other things.
NICE!
Thanks, wish there were timestamps of this
Thanks man!
Thanks!
Thank you
I’ve watched nearly all of Alex’s videos, read both of his books multiple times, and attended his in-person workshop in Vegas - this is hands down one of the most exceptional pieces of content Hormozi has made to date. Loved the short bit on the ad creation process about a third of the way through. To the person on his team analyzing the comments, please encourage him to make more of this stuff. Love the shift that has been made away from the ADHD content. Thanks, Alex. Appreciate all that you share.
I was thinking the exact same thing. He’s done tons of amazing high value/quality videos before, espousing many of these same concepts, but this has been the best one by a Mile. I think hes just going deeper and using more real world examples.
We are 2
Same, I've watched hundreds of his videos and I think this is the best piece of content yet.
Agree
Same here. I've been watching Alex content for years and this is by far the video with the most value that I've ever seen. Alex's team, please do encourage him to keep making this long form content with little edits.

This is exactly how i started my business. I live in Pittsburgh and noticed everyone needed the same thing... retaining walls. Through personal experience, I noticed all the companies installing retaining walls all focused on undercutting each other and did a horrible job at the lowest price, if they even completed on time at all. Knowing nothing about the business, I spent a year learning and practicing in my own back yard. Eventually I perfected a quality product and trained a crew to do the best work quickly. I entered the market by offering a few wealthy households free retaining walls with 1 promise... I'd get it done in 2 days and would insure it for 100 years. 1 year later, I was charging an average of $75k per job, with 80% profit margins, and turning 2-3 jobs per week. Shortly after, I hired a general manager to handle the day-to-day and give me a chance to handle my other businesses.
Wow. Great story and congratulations!!
I like these real life examples🤍

You said “I had to make enough money to be able to afford to sell to people who don’t have much” my dads voice rang in my ear and I remembered him telling me something similar and it started my journey. I had gotten lost and felt guilty for wanting to be wealthy but the truth is the wealth will help me achieve big goals to help people
But why sell to the masses?
Stick to wealthy clients.
@@momentumstocks3493 because it brings you more wealth and influence if u can sell something that is mass produced like groceries and food . while the rich would buy luxurious goods from u. u see u can sell a jade for a million to rich. for acquiring that jade you had to spent at least 0.5 million . but if u spent that for opening a chain of stores u would have earned 3 times more while also having manpower and influence within the local government . hope it helps. u sell to rich ppl just for gathering the capital. however u can be satisfied with that if u only want to be wealthy. for me i have much bigger ambitions. that's why i need a lot of money . not for indulgence and luxury
Don't let guilt stop you from your journey towards wealth!!

"What they want is value per second, not seconds of value" - wow. This one phrase just solved lots of different issues for me. Thank you.
Doesnt make sense to me, and no - im not supid.
What does it mean tho
They want to know the value is there when it hits them on the nose, not to be explained the perceived value.
@raynebee7670 my take is "value per second" = X will get me X results in this amount of time.
"Seconds of value" = I will ONLY get X amount of use out of this till its not worth anything and or costing me money now.
Stop taking everything he says as if it were mindblowing. He share a lot of really good knowledge, but this sentence makes little sense. "Rich" people dont optimise everything for time and "seconds of value" does not mean shit.

One of Alex's best content pieces yet! I'm loving this raw, value-packed format without the TikTok-style editing.
I agree. This is why I am in the middle of this content already. His content are awesome it's just that they have too many distractions. Good job on pointing this out, pal. I mean, you can't concentrate and learn deeply if there's a constant barrage of b -rolls and font changes. I had a professor in college who told the class he would give As to the top 9 students in a class of over 200 people. He said to read each chapter twice before you move on if you want an A. I’m a musician, band leader, and I’m trying my best to adapt these principles to my music business, I think music is probably the hardest business to get success at
True, because everyone listens to music, so everyone wants to be like their idols
Music different. Know yourself, know your audience. Know what cities your audience is in. Then learn everything you can about those cities, if you can't spend time there first. If you're not playing solo, have a network of dependable musicians who you can perform with in those cities, or musicians who are willing to travel with you. Focus on making good music and having seamless performances that are predictable for yourself, but not for your audience. Keep a job until you make it, and keep your overhead low so you can travel as needed. Don't spend too much on gear. Stay focused, Help other musicians when you can, play for free only when you feel like being charitable. Most importantly don't give up. If your show sucks, be honest with yourself and fix it. When it gets hard, do something else until you regain strength. Keep at it, and you'll make it.
True. Over supply
Agreed

This is so true literally my best customers are the ones who have a lot of money, they always super happy and greatful and the poor ones complain over everything 😢
Here in Brazil it's the same thing, I noticed this when I was selling one of my products on marketplaces, as I increased the price of that product, I started to receive more compliments and the complaints simply disappeared.
And it was indeed a quality product.
I always noticed when negotiating with people with less purchasing power, the negotiations were more tiring and they literally wanted to receive a Ferrari at the price of a Toyota.
I say it all the time, Alex’s ability to clearly articulate such complex concepts is astounding.

I love listening to this because working not in the US and not in the private sector, not in a structure where profits and margins define our goals, things are bound to be different. And yet, they may be ever so slightly different, yet the underlying principles what ANY organisation struggles with remain the same. It is just that some things that would be considered problems in the private sector can rightfully be considered virtues in the public one. Great content mate!

Pure GOLD…on multiple levels…but only if WE apply it! 👏
I would have paid $1000 to watch this.
To be honest it’s probably worth 10x that at least.
Thank you Alex 🤝
Free Consultation Of The Year 🏆✨
To anyone who have listened to nearly all of Alex's content, imagine all the work you could have accomplished and how much further along the way you would be if you had spent your time executing instead of listening to him for those hundreds of hours
This is the first video I watch of you and I don't even want to be an entrepreneur but I watched until the end because you speak with so much clarity. I love listening to highly capable people.
Crazy how I have to pause and reflect and watch a 1 hour 30 minute video in 1 full day.
I feek exactly the same way- its wild
Agreed
So happy you are posting more often now. Hope this pace continues
Values per seconds not seconds of value. Alex you got me with that line.
Alex.
You are a very inspiring, hard working, intellegent and amazing person.
Well done for everything you have done and especially to the fact that you want to share your knowledge (for free) to help others learn from you and grow.
Huge Fan
This isn’t just another video with great content. This is a master class. Thank you for everything you do.
THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO EVER ALEX!!! Wow 😮
I'm taking notes and giving my team some very tactical instructions to implement on Monday.
This raised the bar for me.
The stuffed animals he is talking to, are about to pop off in the business world.
That’s both hilarious and a great idea.
@@deklynjasper8797 I missed it somehow. What minute is he talking about this
@@vincentolivieri4468 it’s not a part of the video. Some people use things like stuffed animals 🧸 to talk to like people to help them be more natural I front of the camera.
Great. Now I can't unsee the animals and I'm laughing instead of learning.
🧸😂
I am a store manager for a large corporation and I find these videos to be so helpful! I can’t make
Many changes, I’m stuck with the awful employees that make my life miserable but I figure if I can learn more finance and business tips, I can see the way a store is operated and how I can see the changes that will help me bonus (hopefully)
Alex, thank you for sharing such important experiences. I have failed countless times in business and am still trying to move forward towards success.
Everything you say is true and correct. I'm hoping to impart such life truths onto my children. God willing, we may just turn that corner towards entrepreneurial success. Thank you for the wisdom and fortitude to help others.
Take me back to another thing i learned from him, it takes the same amount of time if not less to do projects in the millions vs projects in the thousandens
Sounds like he knows what he’s talking about. He’s going to make it big one day
He’s already one of the top viewed people/content creators on youtube, not to mention he’s a multi-millionaire from selling multiple businesses! He’s already made it! That’s why he can sit there in a flannel shirt and breathe right and 2 mil people are watching intently trying to learn from him! I’d give anything to have him as a mentor! Hes def made it, and then made it a couple more times after that!
I don't think you know him at all.
Do you know him?
I thought Alex was talking to too fast for me to catch on...and he was, I am a rock. But you got the other people that replied pretty good! 😅
0:17 into the video and I get hit with this GOLD
This is one of the most substantial, succinct and helpful videos I've ever seen online. Holy smokes. Thank you so much.
I've never in my life got this kind of value from a free video. Nailed every single point.
