- Going back to Toliman II? Going in Survival Mode because Albino Terrormorphs were never that challenging?
High or low level, in these tests I demonstrate the protection of top suits against extreme weather effects on Toliman at Forward Base 411.
Survival mode is survivable.
We'll calculate damage per second for specific suits and predict how long you'll have to rush through the fight in Hostile Intelligence.
After testing on Toliman II, I'll provide suit, pack, helmet combinations for Airborne, Corrosive and combined Thermal and Radiation environments and discuss tests on other extreme environments.
With this approach you can stack environmental mitigation for any environment. If you follow up with my Legendary gear approach, you can build a collection of the best spacesuits for all your needs.
correction: Around 7:30, the table says the Constellation+Mark I failed at 45 seconds. That should be 60 seconds like the same test with the higher level character. I copy/pasted the spreadsheet section from the Monster outfit, which was closer to 45-50 seconds. I will also note the Monster suit only qualifies as a "top suit" under the top = funny category. It was the winner in this category with the runner up being the Va'Ruun Balloon Pool Noodle set. I have lost the latter and could not test with it.

Cool vid, outstanding approach, I have been raiding anything in sight looking for gear with the perfect enhancements combo and have adjusted the modifications to each since I activated environmental damage. Combine that with afflictions, limited healings and sustenance and it has made my game hella fun. The starfield future is bright my friend. Strong work keep it up!
Even though your suit protection is done You could have a bunch of reconstim or battlestim at hand and keep taking them every 5 and 3 mins respectively to complete the mission. You can cure addiction with Pancea later
if you take the trait that puts your parents in New Atlantis, your mom gives you grandma's old marine armor, it has real good thermal protection
Cool. I only have that on one low level character and didn't take a look at it. Thanks!
Among the new Gameplay Options, the introduction of Ammo Weight has most significantly altered my playing style, turning me into a selective scavenger. There is a Regenerate point in middle of the Hostile Intelligence mission.
>Regenerate point in middle of the Hostile Intelligence mission
That is a great tip. I hoped they had done this. My two main characters are a few steps away from Hostile Intelligence so I didn't go in yet. I assumed it was either the lab or the control room at the airport. The latter would be ideal just before the final fight. Can't wait to circle back to it with Wash.
Interesting tests! Thanks for putting this together.
Thank you!
Great, that's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the analysis!
Oh and great upload very informative
Very informative…I appreciate your time and effort in this matter…keep’em comin ✌️
Thank you!
On my first play through, I had to fast travel back to my ship before i could finish the mission because of the environmental damage. I bought as much heal gel as I could find, just to get through the mission. That's when I started putting points into environmental conditioning. It was brutal. LOL
I know you can head to your ship before you tell Hadrion to enter the rest of the city (and rest/heal up).
Since you left, could you return and just run through the sections you've already cleared?
@kineer Yeah, after I healed, I just ran through the cleared sections to get to the next objective. Normally I like to shoot and loot, but on this planet, I said screw it. Haha!
@@BeardedFisherman68 That's perfect, thanks!
Damage taken from enemies and damage done to enemies is changed for every loop of NG+ up to 10 times. I wonder if that is also affecting this?
Don't forget this feature is sort of in a beta stage. Lots of game areas and resistances seem to be really wonky right now.
Wonky is an excellent term. It's hard to escape the idea they've planted a few more bugs as they move forward. Always at the back of my mind.
I think the NG level is at play here.
thanks for the work.
Welcome!
Fantastic video 👌 I wish the game explained this all better
Thanks!
@kineer, I have a spacesuit set with max thermal and each piece has Thermal Cooling (+25) added to each. When looking at the stats it seems to max out at 85 even though it should be well above 100. Any explanation? Have you experienced the same?
I ran with this set through Hostile Intelligence and still took damage but didn't get frostbite or hypothermia.
Yes. The UI only reports 85 protection even if you stack far above it. I assume (at least for now) that's deliberate so you always take damage and have to consider the environment in your play.
@@kineer So you're saying 85 is the maximum protection SHOWN or is it the maximum protection POSSIBLE? Certainly seems the latter.
BTW, would you be an engineer by trade? Your analysis seems to match engineers I've worked with through the years.
I believe 85 is the maximum possible. The calculations on observed damage were consistent with that. I had more protection stacked than 85 so if was just an issue in the UI/reporting I would expect less or no damage. I have several combinations that surpass 100 as well. You can never tell what's "in the code", but within the specific tests that's how it looks. On the last question, yes. See also: Boilermaker. ;)

@pigskin75 dude, I'm a current 510/570 and seeing this comment made me smile. Pleasant star-travels
How do you get your Mannequins to work right. Anything I put on it doesn't show up on the mannequin, and will disappear from the mannequins inventory completely if I leave the ship/outpost. WTF?
I store items in the mannequins like it was a small crate, but then I go back into the inventory (of the mannequin) and equip each item to make it visible. Otherwise, they are working normally for me.
I have a fair amount of paranoia about disappearing gear (like the NA Penthouse issue) so I only put gear on ships I never change. If a ship was in flux from a design/build side I won't really use much more than standard cargo storage.
I have [minor?] BGS trust issues. ;)
I'm running a 75% xp boost playthrough and was just wondering whats the best crafted consumable to use for health restores? 🙏
I'm on my first playthrough of the game, set to +75 and am level 41. I have three points in wellness for a 30% Max health buff, I've been getting by using only standard medpacks so far. I'd be interested to know what other people recommend too.
@@Nox210 am doing the same but have put extra points into nutrition and gastronomy to counter the health debuffs, it's fun but brutal
I just maxed out Gastronomy during the May Beta so I'm still working through that area. Will note, I'm not the mad lads you +75ers are. Great job taking the challenge! ;)
@@kineer am treating it as a roll playing part of my playthrough, so at a set point I'll choose 1 to 2 stats to boost, no spoilers,
With 75% xp boost, you have disabled healing from consuming food. Only meds can heal you now. So gastronomy and nutrition skills won’t help you. Also resting only heals in safe areas such as your ship. My characters don’t use meds for healing unless they get ambushed and almost killed during fights. The trick is either a boost pack with the regeneration mod which requires spacesuit design rank 3 or investing in rejuvenation skill, the higher rank the better. Both approaches heal you over time whenever you get damage without the need to do anything. However they do not heal environmental damage taken, the yellow part of hp bar. Just rest in a bed on your ship to fully recover all of your hp
Awesome content! I really hope your channel grows because your work on it really deserves it. I for one appreciate your videos a lot!
Thank you! So many great topics to cover, so little time. Thanks for watching and commenting, it helps!
I hope they make it so if you get your rating to 100 then you are fully protected from any environmental damage. It's sort of annoying to go an these extreme environment planets and not be able to complete the poi's because you have to run back to your ship before you die. Some Poi's do not have any airlock protected areas to seek refuge and recharge your suit. So I just avoid those.
Agreed, I've been able to stack over 100 but just seem to get 85 (I still take damage).
@@kineer And there's other inconsistencies. For example, I just did the rescue mission of Percival in the Mars underground mining complex, and I was still taking radiation damage deep underground. That's just unrealistic. So I just turned environmental damage off temporarily. I don't know if these are intended or bugs.
@@kineer Plus I think the Power "Personal Atmosphere" which replenishes your oxygen should also give you a break from any environmental damage. That would be cool. And it makes sense.
Heard the same issue with the NASA mission. Deep underground, radiation exposure and damage.
