Binav Shresthaa omg same lol it’s 1:08 am for me 😜
It's one am for me too. I'm here because I'm making a casserole for dinner and I'm sick of mutilating onions every time I cut them.
Onion 90rs per kg ho gaye bhai , isliye neend nahi aati tumko

IDK
One of the most complete instructional videos ever. Not only tips on cutting onions, but also on other key factors such as: securing the board, not dulling the knife blade, getting rid of the leathery parts of the onion, using the claw hand approach, etc. etc. Great job!
Yes agreed 👍
But i still cry while cutting onions
It's so satisfying to watch someone cut an onion but IRL it's emotional af.
lol
yep, the trick when cutting is not to form an emotional bond

unowen7591 there is a reason they said Rabbi... I don’t think you got the joke.
Thank you! I'm a terrible AND lazy cook so always bought frozen pre-diced onions (even though they cost a little more), but now I'll be dicing fresh onions myself ^_^ For those of us who didn't get to learn these essential kitchen skills, this is really useful!
My brain: this is exactly what I needed to know, although I never cook, don't even like onions, and should have gone to bed 3 hours ago.
My surname is Howard as well ! If you've never sauted sweet onions in a good pure butter you've made yourself , you don't know what your missing .
How do you not like onions? They are so delicious when they're cooked.
@@windmage0168 raw onions are awful
@@Vincent654 they're great at keeping evil spirits (like people who don't like onions) away
my eyes started to burn just think of it
Lol
same lol
because she's doing very well
dont cut the root and it wont burn your eyes
cut the root! it causes those tears so remove it asap
My eyes are burning just from watching this
I thought it was just me 😂😂😂
Mine toooo
PinkPandaPVP yeah, but thats kinda normal.. dont you need onions everyday? Just asking, no offence.. i am an indian and i am surprised to see that there are so many people saying that they didnt know how to do it or they would never do it..
Lol I thought it was just me too!!
PinkPandaPVP Holy Pusheen
OMG! I've been struggling with cutting onions and this was the most useful video I've seen. Thank you thank you thank you!!
This is so satisfying and make chopping onions up look really easy! If I learn this, I'mma show my friends and impress em😁
I love these types of educational videos, this one, the pan one etc. It's so helpful and easy to follow. I hope they will do more of these.
This was extremely helpful!!. Fuck all the irrelevant comments saying they're running out of ideas.
Jess A they copied Gordon Ramsay
Jess A deadass
Thank you for making this video💖💖
I love how they explained every step very well and the way they shoot this video with the right angles to look, is making it more easier for me to learn.
Agree on all points! Fantastic video
The music, the simplicity, and the artistry in the cutting. Very nice.
the onion is crying at 0:35
Lololo
The turns have tabled
Welticus The Ultimate Weeb oh how the turntables
Naaaaa he is just tensed😡
Lmao
That moment when you find out you've been cutting an onion wrong your whole life.
That was super helpful - most videos do not provide such detailed information - like how to avoid dulling the knife and how to cut safely during different parts of the cutting process. Thanks!
Thank you for this...one of many methods, but--so nice to see someone protect the sharp edge of the chef knife and use the flat backside for scraping. Thank you.
Ogres are like onions THEY HAVE LAYERS
shrek
They stink and make you cry.
haha from the cat dog show
Jack Jones yes, no

My eyes are burning just from looking at these overused comments

How to cook tuft
Great video. I liked that zero of my time was wasted on stupid intros. Clear, intelligent presentation. Crystal clear speech and appropriate music at the right volume. I didn't know I had so much to learn about chopping onions!
Scooping the onions with the blunt side is something that you see even the best chefs neglect. Great video.
Also great for salads and sandwiches or for onion rings: keep the onion whole, peel, slice a small bit out of the middle to steady the onion on the board, then slice from end to end. Turning to the other end when you reach the middle. You’ll end up with nice onion rings.
If your eyes burn very fast and easily, use swimming goggles, they block all the reactions away if you know what I mean.
I do the exact same thing & my family always makes fun of me! 😂
Or you can eat gum lol
it didnt work for me u.u
SNORKLER STEVER STYLE
Just don't cut off the root - Its what makes makes the onion bleed. The methods in the video are excellent to prevent crying.
I wonder how many tears she shed for a 5 minute video about how to chop onions...
Holy crap! Thank you! I've seen several other tutorials and they didn't help at all, but this video was perfect!
thanks for sharing, I've struggled too much trying to do the dice with the slicing, also great tip on cutting for cooking with the rotation, i'll have to try that too.
You know what? This is really useful! Thank you, Tasty!
these videos have been so helpful for me. i am actually the worst cook in the world and these have helped me with the basics
This is actually a good and useful how to video. I always struggled with the cutting the rings.
Thank you so much. Clear, concise, and to the point!
With the dicing you don't need the horizontal cut (the first cut with the palm down on the onion). Just the vertical slices from the top down. Those slices break the layers so when you do the opposite and final cut the layers actually act as the horizontal cut.
I agree i never do horizontal cuts for that reason
Exactly!
One way to find out for sure… 1/2 onion with two horizontal cuts, 1/2 onion with one horizontal cut and 1/2 onion with no horizontal cuts. I just did my cutting as I was watching the vid so I’ll have to wait a day or two for the Great Experiment. 🧅
They need onion cutting advice from "You Suck At Cooking"
Love the video, Great explanation.
Thank you for making Educational videos and not stupid blogs like other TH-camrs.
Brings a tear to my eye.
Perfect thank you so much, I watched Gordon Ramsey do it and even he didn't explain it as good as you did so again thank you.
I like videos like these; tasty should do more like dicing a tomato, or just basic sauces.
Yes @tasty a good spinoff - tasty basics
Tell me why my eyes started burning while I was watching this 😂🤦🏽♀️🥺
I thought was being dramatic but I’m not alone Lmaoooooooo
Cutting ingredients are so satisfying
When she cut the root in the slicing part, Gordon Ramsay echoes inside me, _"Root. Abseloutely crucial. Don't cut it. The onion will start to bleed and will make you cry~"_
My eyes started burning just watching this.
I recommend seeing a doctor about vicarious burning of the eyes.

Thanks. All I needed to know was "when I can't hold it any more what to do" and u said it in this video.
Thank you for sharing the trick with the onion rings
I always struggle to hold the onion stable and now I know how to do it
I watch a lot of cooking tutorials on TH-cam, and yours is hands down my favorite. Part of that is your voice and background music, which is very soothing; but more importantly is that unlike celebrity cooking videos, yours focuses on the technique, details, and practicality, instead of showmanship. In terms of trying to learn something myself so I can apply that knowledge next time I cook, your slower paced tutorials are always better. Thank you for doing these videos, and I hope your channel gets more and more successful!
This was actually a very helpful video! I will use all of this tricks next time
Thank you! Clear and straight to the point 👌
Your presentation is always sowell done. You make things look easy and following you things ARE simpler for me. Thanks
Me chopping onions:
"Honey, I'm making dinner"
*cuts*
*cries*
...
*cuts myself*
"Oh sh*t"
*tears falling onto onions*
*continues to bleed*
"We're going out for dinner!"
lol!!
rap monster needs to watch this
Simple, wise, and clearly explained.
Best how-to on cutting ever. Thanks.
Another Tip: Wear a Diving Mask
I was wondering if this person was wearing goggles or something. I would be in tears lol
wash your onions and chew a gum
dont cut the root and it wont burn your eyes
I've tried all of those. In my professional career as a cook, I find the best method to chop onions with no tears is to keep your knife super sharp.
Matt Michalak didnt the first tip she used, they cutted the root? the part where she cutted it in half?
Oh wow. This has to be the longest Tasty video ever🤔🤔.
Other than that I actually enjoyed the video. Might try them nest trick the next time am cooking. Thanks guys for the video.

Perfectly explained ! Thank you
Holy shit. This woman is fantastic. Perfect voice for tutorials.
I just realized that I've been dulling my knife every time I do that food picking thing. shook
0:34-0:36 You made the onion cry
You did what millions couldn't do.
Thank you.
☺☺☺☺☺☺☺
Just back from the ER, but thank you so much for the excellent tutorial!
Thanks, i'm terrible in the kitchen and this well help me not embarrass my self when I try to help my sister in law!
Dont be fooled, it’s harder than it looks
It's not too hard, I just hate the extra end piece that never gets the perfect cuts. You cut into about 90% of the onion but you still have that last little bit that doesn't look as nice as the rest.
My eyes are watering just watching this
Very nice! Thank you for speeding up when you did. Nice and short videos! 3 in 1! Thanks!
I have never seen this kind of beautiful onion in my life.
How does she do it so perfectly?!!!
practice makes perfect :)
Sharp knife! Helps a lot :)
She doesn't , this is not remotely correct
Daniel Bugden I just knew there would be someone out there , she is remotely correct there
If you are going to make a video on how to properly cut an onion, you should know how to properly cut an onion. This is not right , I am not joking or trying to be mean in anyway, this is just the wrong way to dice an onion.
timesaving hint: when dicing the onion, the horizontal cuts are totally unnecessary. Just do the vertical cuts (both with the grain and against the grain) as shown in the video. Horizontally, the onion layers are already separate.
Exactly! Was browsing through comments to see if anyone thinks so too. But it takes some 3D imagination to know that
So I just did cut my first onion and this video really helped me
Thank you!
Such a relaxing voice
If you make the horizontal cuts after the vertical ones, you won't get all of the little pieces coming off. Also, when doing the horizontal cuts, angle the blade downwards slightly to avoid running into your hand. Even although the onion is protected by layers, it's still a good idea once you have peeled it to give it a rinse, especially if you're going to eat them raw.
"So for the onion rings, we're gonna start this one a little bit differently."
~Proceeds to start the exact same way as previous methods~
😂
My eye started watering when you made the second cut.
Very helpful tutorial. Thank you.
"Cut off the tip"...Oh lord
hahaha xD
IAmNieshaLouis what?
Is it some kind of dirty joke?
Oy vey
Circumcision
That is the juiciest onion I've ever seen.
Thank you for all your helpful tips, this was so interesting. I've been cutting onions for years and didn't know all these great tips.
Thanx for this to the point video, i wasn't even ready yet 👌
I hate when I'm cutting up onions it break and fall apart.
Cant you tell something nice like, i like your nails
Sorry my coment wasnt for you
same I could never do a nice slice for dicing because the onions always fall apart
GameOver ikr its so annoying, have to try putting it back again like a puzzle, then fail miserably and just cut them all randomly
Don't cut off the root. Thats what keeps it together.
This woman is a fucking boss. I'd be crying like the first 10 minutes of UP if I had to cut this many onions.
Excellent demonstration. Hollywood should call you up.
So simple!! Thank you
I hate onions but still watched this whole video.
Amazing! What's next for you in this life?
same :D
Haha
Savage
Exactly and I don't know why
Put your brightness on 100 and turn off the lights for maximum effect.
J Sal this is such an underrated comment 😂
unique approach to chopping up onions - cheers
This is an excellent video - thank you!
Rap Monster should watch this..
What about the standard method tought in culinary schools, using a banana and a brown paper bag?
thanks! I'm going to try the rings method today!
I'm interesting adding the stuff from this video into my notes.
Am I the only one getting watery eyes watching this? What the hell is this sorcery?
THATS A GOOD LOOKING ONION
excellent video - thank you chef!!
Well done. Much appreciated.
curl in your fingertips! genius! where were you last year when I cut my thumb and bled for an hour before it stopped?! lol
"They start to break down and turn to mush"
I didn't know i had so much in common with onions :')
well done! Easy to follow. Thank you!
Watching her cut onions is so peaceful
Did anyone else's eyes burn as well by just watching this?😂😁
Last time I was this early snoop vision was still a thing
I enjoy the burning eyes experience. It's part of the onion aroma. Love onions. I don't know what we would do without them. They're magic.
Best onion video I've ever seen.
