    The Shinobi 7 is severely underrated. 2200 freaking nits! This is my 4th Atomos monitor and simply love them every time. I just wish Atomos would refine the UI some more. The little tiny buttons could afford to be a little bigger. Maybe if they gave us the option to customize the UI similar to SmallHD's pages system, it'd be next level.

      It totally is brother! I do like the portkeys tools and the ability to adjust them a bunch between location of the scopes on the monitor and opacity varieties but overall this monitor is beautiful to use on set!

      If I am doing more hand held run& gun. So looking at the shinobi 5” more, but has no hdmi or Sdi outs which I could live with

      @@ImJasonAnthony The Portkeys BM5WR Camera Monitor you mentioned looked great but the 5" is $750. Guess I could live with the Shinobi 5" at $329 and its much brighter than the smallHD %?

    Underrated video. Thank you so much. The fan noise is such a big issue for me

    • @ImJasonAnthony
      @ImJasonAnthony  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeo! I appreciate you a ton! Yeah the fan noise can be an issue, especially if you're running a shotgun mic but here is how I see it personally. When inside right, you do not need the monitor at its peak brightness of 2200nits so therefore I put the fan cooling speed on the quieter setting helping reduce noise. Now if we're outside and need that brightness with the shotgun mic on cam, there will be ambient noise from people, cars, etc. So for me I have 1 of 2 options, take what's called a "sound print" sample audio without your talent speaking just like the first 15-20 you're rolling capture all the ambient noise in the scene including the fan and then run noise reduction in post or if budget calls for it lol have an audio guy.

    Just got my self a Shinobi 7 and I absolutely love it. I was wondering why there weren't too many reviews about the Shinobi 7.
    The only thing that confused me, I thought it would be the same Size as the Shogun which I also own and where I also have the accessory package, since there was no available Sunhood for the Shinobi 7.
    Turns out the Shinobi 7 is bigger than the Shogun, so I can't put my Sunhood of the Shogun on the S7.
    But still, there is no Atomos S7 Sunhood available.
    So you would need a Cage to get a Sunhood.
    Bubt Anyways it is still a great Monitor! Thank you for this Video!

    • @ImJasonAnthony
      @ImJasonAnthony  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you’re liking the monitor and that’s what I wound up doing for the Sun hood was buying a cage. To be honest tho it’s never really on the monitor because of how bright it is. Unfortunately I mention it’s comparable to the shogun in size but not exact. Glad you’re liking the monitor overall and I’m also shocked it doesn’t have as much hype behind it!

    Hi Jason,
    A bit torn between the Atmos Shinobi 7", 5" and the new smallHD action 5". I have a Sony FS7 and do enough handheld shots and was looking more at the 5". The heat issue scares me with the 7". Seems the Shinobi 5" a bit quieter and love the brightness for sharp focus. However... no HDMI or SDI output on the 5". As a result looking at the new SmallHD action 5" with the same price of the Shinobi 5. Feel like it's a real tossup.????

    • @ImJasonAnthony
      @ImJasonAnthony  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have yet to play with the Action 5 and if you need SDI and HDMI I totally get you! The 7' is big to mount on the fs7 have you checked out the portkeys bm5 WR. This has been my go to 5' on both my fx6/fx3/komodos. Super bright in the sun, a ton of customizable tools, a beautiful display and so much more. Its pricey about the same as the 7' shinobi but between its 2200 Nits and the tools this sold me as my current favorite monitor!

    • @ImJasonAnthony
      @ImJasonAnthony  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a great question! The only way I could think that this is possible is by creating your own lut in your editing software using both those luts and adjusting the lut threshold when you're combining them. If you search how to make a lut there are many ways to generate a .cube file wether its using a specific software to make the lut or in your NLE. Unfortunately with most the monitors I have used you cant really combine them and adjust the threshold. Appreciate the question and wish I had an "easier" solution haha

    I use desview r7p and works great. No fans 1000nits. Has wav form , histogram, peaking, zebras adjustment from 0 to 100. Has ari false color, regular false color, lots loading, hdr, and pinch zoom. Get about 2 1/2hrs on sony npf battery. I use atomos ninja 2 for 1080p but screen sucks. Paired with this works great. Also has ntsc broadcast calibration so my camcorder send out color bars and I use red green blue to perfectly calibrate to my oled on camcorder.

      Good to know!!! I've have had a few 7" monitors like the feelworld that was 22000nit. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, appreciate your input!!!

      Barely any if there is some Fred, I've never had latency issues with any of Atomos monitors

    Is there a way to use touch focus (for the lens to focus where you tap) on the Atomos screen? Liked for example tap the Atomos screen and have the lens focus where I tap, like it would if I tapped (with touch focus on) wherever I touch on the a7siii monitor?

      Unfortunately at this time touch to focus is not available on this monitor.

    3:18 is "moninor" (or 3:28 "monor") proper english or is it a specific accent (from a region or a city) or a personnal accent or a personnal flaw ? I'm seriously curious.

    7:08 "I'm selecting...." You ain't selecting jack unless you have women's hands. Don't pass your girlfriend off as yourself. Give her the credit. WAIT. Nevermind. You should just be a hand model as a side gig. LOL.
