      @@chrisrussellcaHe mentioned the A7S3 as his upgrade which records in 10 bit. The Sony codecs is so good the Ninja provides no true benefit. Regarding his A73, it outputs in 8 bit and the Ninja does not upgrade to 10 bit as he suggested as an improvement. I may have misinterpreted his mention on A73, but he implied an improvement when there is a minor improvement - you will get 8 bit 4.2.2 vs 8 bit 4.2.0., but no 10bit.

    • @andresce1308
      @andresce1308 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Check the video again as I did. He mentions A73 first and then his upgrade to A7S3. He made all valid points. Many will get a monitor for viewing and stick with the A7S3 Codec which is excellent. Nikon Z6II records in 8 bit 4.2.0. but will output a 10 bit for the Ninja V which is the key difference between the A73 and Nikon Z6II. Many mistakenly believe the Ninja V automatically gives you 10 bit. It only gives you the color space of 4.2.2. and certain cameras will export 10 bit as well and in those instances the Ninja V will record 10 bit 4.2.2.
      Thanks for the reply. The Shinobi and Ninja V are good based on your camera's ability. I personally record in 8 bit and use a Shinobi for viewing and visual tools. 10 bit is definitely a pro requirement to get the best results.

    Nice video! Couple of points though - the main reason to use PRORES is that it's an editing codec i.e. it's very fast to work with in an editor because you are trading CPU power for storage. Scrubbing through the video and rendering will be dramatically faster. There is no point showing different bitrates and colour depths on a TH-cam video, when it's on TH-cam - it's 8 bit / 8Mb/s (HD). The only reason to keep a more data rate and bit depth around is to give you more dynamic range to play with in the edit. Your audio on that mic outside sounded great btw.

    It depends on the gear you pair it with. For example, I just ordered a Ninja V+ for my new Canon R6II. For that camera, it allows 6k 60 Raw recording that's not available internally. Also from what I've heard, Canon codecs are hard to edit so ProRes might be easier. And lastly, RAW recording offers more color info and dynamic range in some cameras. If it indeed improves dynamic range on the R6II, then there are many benefits to a Ninja vs a monitor only (like SmallHD).

      From my understanding that's because ProResRaw file size depends a lot on what you're shooting not just how long you're shooting. If there's a lot of information in the scene, you'll have less record time available. Kinda like if your car says you have 200 miles left on the gas tank but then you drive at 100 mph that gas tank isn't going to last 200 miles.

      @denesdabronaki2924 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it is! With the A7III there is only one option, and that’s the Ninja V, however it’s only some kind of a workaround and only works when recording externally and in 4K (here’s how: th-cam.com/video/kLn8gAGHrDk/w-d-xo.html). But I still think that only for having face detection in 4K this monitor setup is way to expensive! And not to forget that 1000nits on a bright sunny day is quite weak and also the fans are too loud which can be a problem when using mics close to the monitor, as Bryce mentioned it drains the biggest Sony batteries way too fast (and they are not cheap), plus you won’t even get 10bit 4:2:2 externally. So in my opinion I would save that money and spend on much useful gears.

    Hmmmmmm. Its value depends on what equipment you're pairing up with it. In my case an A7S. Together I get a great screen, avoid a lot of Sony's laughable built-in menu options, avoid having to use Sony's terrible screen, I can record in 4K (which I can't in-camera). I can certainly see how the value proposition diminishes with newer gear. For me though, even if the camera can record well enough, this offers a backup recording. I'm guessing you never had the misery of using the Ninja Blade and the terrible previous menu system. This is a far nicer product and interface design, which instills new life and capabilities into older equipment, avoiding the horrendous upgrade costs

      @@taifer there’s a setting in the camera that makes the camera stay on at all times that’s the most important one that way you can only record with the ninja and not have to press the camera buttons so it won’t sleep. There’s a few other settings I can t remember but you can find it on TH-cam.

    You look at the sittuation now? Samsung quit making 860 pro drives, and all your left with is a sony or angelbird option, with over inflated mac prices. I just bought the ninja Ultra, and luckly i have a few 860 pros.

    I have had the same questions when using it with my Z6II. Its nice but did I waste $500? Its create to see you video on a larger screen but most of my sequences are not 30 mins long and I don't do a lot of interviews. As you said, if I did a lot of coloring but I don't. Now, it does look cool when shooting for a client, I will give it that. Yeah, its complicated.

  • @gabrielshepard
    @gabrielshepard 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I mean for the flexibility of shooting though, that's where the value of this tool is. Past just recording to SSD, you get an instant view of LUT's, an instant view of a screen larger than 3in (because camera manufacturers can't be bothered), zebra's (if your camera doesn't support it), false colors, focus checking..... the list is assorted and long.
    It's main feature is recording.... but not its main usefulness

    Bryce: You’re weirdo man
    N5: I know
    Bryce: But I kinda like your weirdo-ness
    N5: I know
    Bryce: Okay I can still work with your weirdo-ness
    N5: I know
    Bryce: I’m definitely keeping your weirdo-ness

    At least N5 is constant. Hahahahaha! 🤣 🤪 😝

    • @BryceKoebel

      😅 ok ok ok
      The pros:
      1. Great screen + functionality
      2. Recording comes in handy BUT very rarely am I using it. Like I don’t even think I will use it very often.
      Cons:
      1. Heavy
      2. Battery sucks even with 970 batteries
      3. Recording files are massive so I still record internally and save those files
      4. The battery being on the right side can cause it to feel weird
      Low key I might sell it 🙃 I’m looking at portkeys or something that allows you to control your camera
