    I hope the camera control features come to more camera systems, since Atomos makes a much cleaner UI than most of the camera makers.

    I like this monitor alot, I got the 5.2 inch model but was a little disappointed on how small the screen is, the case is reasonably sized but the bezels at the edges of the screen make the screen look larger when it's off but then once you power it on, you get to see just how small it is. I feel like I should have gotten the 7 inch version 😅

    Please do a comparison review with Osee G7 / Swit CM-S75F. They are the biggest rivals right now! :) In my opinion this Shinobi 7 is way to big. Bezels are crazy... :)

      @shagral_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agree 100%. G7 also has a v-lock plate and power cable included in the package, also way better focus peaking and higher brightness. Arguably better OS with no touch (a plus in my book). Not impressed with Shinobi 7 at all!

    I was looking for a monitor and I wasn’t sure if I’d like the swit or the shinobi, I like the smallhd menu like, but no accessories for the swit and it’s less bright.. so I guess I’ll bue the shinobi! Thanks for the clear review :)

    Strange that SmallHD wasn't mentioned in their list of competitors in this video. The SmallHD is the most obvious competitor of them all.

    Awesome. I do more run gun and wish they would still make the SDI version of the Shinobi 5”

    Hey thanks for the great video! Ended up buying the Shinobi 7 with a lot of confidence having watched it. I do however have one question. Have you actually gotten it to cross convert from SDI in to HDMI out? With my Red Komodo I can't seem to get the HDMI Output readout to ever show anything except "No Output" and that little red exclamation warning symbol. Do you have any idea what might be going on? Thanks in advance!

      I'm in the same boat. Bought it to cross convert an SDI signal out of the ursa G2 to HDMI into a teradeck ace. I contacted ATOMOS and they told me my unit was faulty and the Australian distributor sent me a replacement unit. The new unit I received has the exact same problem, red exclamation ❗ error with no output. I reckon it's a software bug that they have yet to address.

      Same problem here, bought a Shinobi 7 and the output module just don't work. Always shows no output. Was not able to cross convert from SDI to HDMI neither.

    Hmm, if this monitor didn't have those very thick bezels it would be a lot more convenient to use on smaller cameras.

    Could you possibly make a comparison to some of the smallhd monitor only offerings (703 and Cine 7/702 touch). Kinda dislike the atomos offerings although owned their monitors and recorders in the past. Thanks a lot

    Great review and comparison to similar priced options but would have loved to see how it compare to the more expensive SmallHD 702 Touch/Cine 7. We don’t all live in London with options to visit your monitor wall.

    this will be a silly question i'm sure to most people but I am just starting to move to video work so all a bit new to me. Connecting a Nikon Z9 I was expecting to be able to view playback on the monitor without necessarily sending an HDMI out to a separate devise. this has been purchased second hand so need to download instructions. I really hope this can be achieved. at the moment playback of video will only work on my camera when I disconnect the unit.

    How are you able to use this monitor with the Komodo? This is SDI 3g and the Komodo is SDI 12g. This has been my biggest question about this monitor. Is there a special SDI cable I need or does it just work?

  • @dennismaetzig
    @dennismaetzig 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Does the calibration work with the current firmware and atomos calibration tool? Did you test it? It’s not working for me. The tool can’t recognize the monitor. Atomos support said that the tool isn’t compatible with the unit yet.
    However, all my other atomos monitors are working with this setup.

    the small rig ones likely can't hold the weight. I've got a shogun7 and unless I keep it vertical the small rig monitor mounts can't hold it.

      I have a 5" Shinobi without sdi and it doesn't have a fan. Which is very problematic since it gets hot to the point where it's almost imposible to use the touchscreen. So glad I switched to the 7" Shinobi.
