C'est la vie. I was planing to keep my 2010 dub-cab 6 speed TRD for the rest of what ever anyway. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool manual man, so automatics just rub my rhubarb. I'm also not a fan of the new higher reving (more HP less TRQ) 3.5L. To quote an old saying "There's no replacement for displacement". Trucks need low end (low-rev) torkque, not high end horse power.
I've got a M/T and an A/T 4x4 trucks. I love the M/T because its just way more engaging to drive where the auto just eliminates most of the driving excitement. If you drive the 2016 truck back to back with your 2010, you'll notice the 2016 feels gutless in comparison.
I want to see a 2 gen vs 3 gen M/T low RPM clime and pull battle. At 1k, 1.5k...up to 3500 RPM's. On dry hard dirt. With and with out all the traction adding goodies.
You wont see much of a difference because the axle gearing on the gen 3 was changed to wake up the new engine. The gen 2 was a 3.73:1 ratio and the gen 3 uses 3.90:1 and optional 4.30:1. Manual Transmission trucks use a 4.30:1 gear ratio which would make it feel equal or greater than in torque to the gen 2 with the 3.73:1.
Any truck with 4x4 could if you gave it a little gas. Loose rock, gravel, and sand all need a little momentum to make it up. That's why you dont see low geared rock crawlers at the dunes. It's high power high speed to climb loose stuff.

Loose gravel climb is like a sand climb. You use momentum, not slow crawl.

Up against a hill momentum is your friend, crawl control is only for crawling, not hill climbing.
Main problem is the driver , second problem are the tires

crawl control isn't magic.
Just a bad driver. Be patient and let crawl control to work. So impatient. It may take longer so let the truck work.
+Johnny Garcia in all the factory videos, they let crawl control do the work for like 3 minutes. He gave up after 20 seconds.
