You’re not wrong Jeff! Power to Toyota! Toyota has proved itself again beyond any doubt! Definitely capable vehicles! I guess that’s why I’m “sold” on Toyota! Quality and definitely Ability! All while having fun! Thanks for sharing this Jeff! Mark in Iowa.
This is the reason why We've always owned Toyota 4runners(About 10 of them. As God is my witness, I am not bragging. I remember my first few rounds, at Rear E-locker were when we purchased our '00 Tacoma TRD, as well as our '00 4Runner Limited with the rare E-Locker(Yes, in a Limited). Ahh!! Those were the days..
Driven very rough erroding and also very muddy terrain daily for 20 years in the most remote places and never had the differential lock to rely on. I think it a good option, but I never used it.
Jeep guy (obviously) but just ordered a 2022 Taco Off-Road. I've never had lockers in any of my Jeeps, so this video helps. Two months until Yota time!
Alsum I just got my Tacoma first time having a 4x4 can't wait to try this .I like yall to show how to operate and use the controls properly looks great
This was a pretty good video and it shows how off-road capable the Tacoma and 4Runner are. And if I’m not mistaken, I think i saw a Tundra in the distance too.
Very cool and helpful in showing what the locking rear differential does. Sweet camera too showing front and sides of vehicle, I've not seen that shown before.
Just ordered the 2022 Tacoma TRD Pro in electric lime metallic! It looks so much better in person. Only issue is head room with the moon roof. Fixing that with the 949 steering wheel extension adds 2.1in to overall length. Note to Toyota, give it just 2in more of telescope ability from the factory.
Just bought a 2022 4Runner Off Road XP Predator. Lots of things to love about the truck, but also some things missing. Upgraded from my 2004 4Runner SR5.
Watching from Rhode Island. We have a 21 black 4Runner limited. I know it’s not a TRD pro but most of our driving in on the road or sand beaches.. We mainly purchased the 4Runner for winter driving and towing a boat. We really like the all-time four-wheel-drive feature. When my lease is up I would love to get a TRD pro. Dealers around here are asking 15-20k above sticker. Crazy
That’s the great thing about these vehicles, there’s a bunch of different options for various situations. in my opinion CRAW is the one you use as a last resort. It’s gotten me out of impossible situations (multiple people approached me and asked me if I needed help but I told em I’m good cause I knew crawl would get me out)
Well I am a little late to the party but I’m curious on how the guy in 4Runner has the roll and pitch indicator on his display.. can’t find much information about it seems it’s only on the Taco. I just recently purchased a 23’ 4Runner ORP and was curious if I had this option
Hey Jeff I live in eastern North Carolina as well and I just bought a 2019 TRD Off Road 4Runner and I was wondering if you know trails I can go on with my wife. Thank you
That Atrac is no good in heavy mud uphill. The fronts dont even turn when loaded up with weight dry. Need a front locker as well for serious off roading
You should be able to have the dif locked,no matter if youre in 2wd,4 high or 4 low. Kinda pointless in 4low only. Most of this video couldve been done in 2wd with the dif locked
I think you answered my question regarding the rear locker. I wanted to know if you are supposed to use the rear locker at the same time as one of the MTS settings. Looks to me like you use one or the other, but not both at the same time. Going to play Saturday, I want to test it out a little.
@Jeff - Really enjoyed the content and the demo of the lockers. Watching from Canada. Question:-Does the new tacoma have the "brake hold" feature like other toyota's
So when I engage in 4low I always have to choose a mts mode ? New this ? And also when I do use differential lockers how do I disengage it? Do i just push the botton ?
@@steve9348 no you don't have to choose any MTS when in 4x4. You have to press the MTS button to select any modes. And yes just press the locker button on and off, it'll show up on your dash.
@@PVo-1111 are trucks still typically bumpy on a bunch of speed bumps ? Is there a mode to recommend for use those bumps ? It’s the small bumps that vibrate everything .. I thought fox shocks would work good to get rid of the shaking but it don’t ..
I still don’t understand while in 4 low the front wheels can’t pull you out without use of locker. I understand if you had slippage with front tires it comes in handy but it looked like they always had contact with solid ground in front unless camera view just didn’t show front spinning also. PS: I have an FJ and 23 trail team Tacoma. I’ve never needed Atrac or rear locker with the FJ.
What did you think of the video? What 4Runner and Tacoma were your faves? Jeff
I can't believe they let you get those rare TRD Pros dirty. That's what I call real status! ;-)
Hard choice. Myself I take both. Please update us Jeff what 4runners you have in stock.
I really like them both but I would also like to see them refreshed and better mpg.
How do you have one already! lol I cant wait for the 2022 Tacoma TRD PRO to be released.
@@Lexusgx550 Even if they have any in stock, expect 10-40K over MSRP. ;)
I like the with and without locking diff scenes because they are quick and to the point! Thank you
Your videos helped me choose my Tacoma a year ago. I still watch your videos because you make them fun. Keep it up Jeff.
Thank you very much that’s awesome
Not only did you create a TON of content, you got 10 minute videos up ASAP. Such a legend! Great meeting you, dude! Onward to 100k!
Hey dude I really enjoyed hanging out with you! Yes this one was a lot of work to edit lol
Until this point, I had no idea what a rear-locking differential was for. Your video made it quick and easy to learn. Thanks.

Toyota is always the answer ❤️
Hey Jeff, how about a video on wheel articulation TRD Pro vs KDSS (both sides where solid point & cylinder side) vs no KDSS.
I’ll have to work on that one. I did a very short KDSS video this past weekend but it won’t give you what you were looking for
I have KDSS on a 2018 4R TRD OR and it is worth every penny.
Amazing off-road capability. These Toyotas are unstoppable.
I was amazed at a different level of what these could do

I love that color of the 4Runner and the Tacoma. That green is so awesome looking.

You probably did see one!
We didn’t have one in our group but it wouldn’t surprise me
Very cool and helpful in showing what the locking rear differential does. Sweet camera too showing front and sides of vehicle, I've not seen that shown before.
Great video, love that it highlights what these trucks were designed for and their capabilities right "out of the box".
Yeah and that's a good point. I had brand new vehicles and gently used ones lol
This content is great, this is what I want to test every feature one by one and feel the difference, keep it up bro
Thanks Jeff you make me love my 4Runner even more
That’s very cool!!!

Great video as always Jeff!!! Love the content but I am 4runner all the way. I'm loving my 22 TRD ORP in Army Green.
we've got a vote for 4Runner!!
Thank you for teaching us about rear Diff lock.
Awesome? “In the Forest with skinny trucks and fat guys as the payload PROOFING how reliable these Toyota Tacoma’s are….” LMAO 😂
Watching from NY and I love my 2020 TRD OFF ROAD.
Awesome intro dude!
Thanks TRD JON!!
Great video keep up the good work brother. Tacoma is a good truck.
Jeff would totally make a fun dad if he has any kid ;)
Lol I have a 24 and 21 year old :)
Awesome video. I have a 2021 4Runner ORP and can’t wait to use the 4wd features. The video showed pretty good when to choose each setting.
It was so much fun learning how and when to use each feature.
Just got my first Taco (05) and it has the rear diff lock feature! Tuning in from central Cali! Loved the vid!
I’m from Nepal 🇳🇵 but now I’m live in New York love your video 🥰🥰🙏🙏
Welcome to New York!!
Interesting and fun video. Watching from Indiana

Can't Wait for my super white to arrive. That lime green can stay in the warehouse.
Lol Super White is awesome!!
Awesome video Jeff, greetings from Puerto Rico!!!
at 8:18, if the truck is in 4WD, why aren't the front tires spinning??
Cool stuff Jeff watching from South Georgia. I am a new Toyota Trd sport owner on year now not much off roading for me did when I was younger though.
Gosh those freaking flys are crazy!
Hated those bugs!!!!
Nice....If I read the road signs right Ya'll were up in my neck of the woods. North Ga....?
We sure were!!
The locker only works in low 4wd, and you can easily switch between lock and not just by the button?
Wahttttt! I don't belive This! The Tacoma Green Electric si amazing! Waouuuuuu!
Awesome content, very informative
Nicely done, good job !
Great content ..lock differential is awesome
Can't wait to get a tacoma. Think I'll wait for a 2024.
Wow! So friggin cool. Would’ve liked to have seen a demo of CRAWL control too.

It’s gotten me out of impossible situations (multiple people approached me and asked me if I needed help but I told em I’m good cause I knew crawl would get me out)
I'll have a small crawl demo hopefully within a week on my AutoJeff Reviews channel. Good suggestion
I will be upfront, this kind of offroad work, the manual trans will work much better. I've tried them both. 4cylinder stick.
Great video loved it
Texas-great video. (Made me nervous watching it! Lol!)
I hear Cruiser Kurt doing some spotting!
You got that right Kurt is the best!!
Damn…the new Taco color is starting to grow on me.

Thanks glad you liked it
Great demo Jeff ! my next vehicle for sure.
Excellent and welcome!

Why wouldn't someone just put it 4 wd instead of locking in the rear differential? Just curious.
Good demonstration Jeff.
thank you Dan!!
Ellerslie,Ga looks like a blast 💥👍🏻
I got that Toyota Jeff cameo!
Hahahaha!!

Great demo on locking diff.
Thanks this was a super fun video to make. I'm glad people seem to like this one
Oh that's what that button's for!
How does the extra factory lift on the 2022 tacoma feel? Is it noticeable / helpful?
Great video thanks!!
Do you have (or know of) a video like this with a Tacoma off-road 2WD??
@Jeff - Really enjoyed the content and the demo of the lockers. Watching from Canada. Question:-Does the new tacoma have the "brake hold" feature like other toyota's
Do you know the electronic differential lock?
Randomly says “get in my belly, get in my belly”💀 I know the Austin powers reference but why in that situation😭😂
Do you go off roading often? Looks fun!
Honestly I’ve only
Been once before.
Was so much fun!
Awesome videos! Watching from Western NY.
Awesome and thanks! I lived upstate in Binghamton for 4 years
Looks so fun !
We had a blast
How did you get the camera to show the landscape and angles?
I love Tacomas but I could have made it up that road with my 52 Chevy 2 speed automatic, went through much worse.
Awesome video, thank you for showing how important a rear locker is including a-trac, and mts were also impressive!
It may be ancient but the 2022 4Runner still rocks!!!
Is MTS still loud on the new TRD PRO?
Awesome Video! Really helped me understand the functions. Nelson Toyota
Would love to have an inside the vehicle video of what you are doing as well as an outside perspective at the end.
Really good suggestion. I have some extra footage. Maybe I can whip something up if it's not redundant.
Good video. Thanks
That’s wild there’s some people out there buy these trucks and don’t understand what that button does lol
What is the camera system on the Truck? The one that allows you to see your sides and front.
Tons of fun
Great video
Does the citrus lime on the tacoma come in other trim levels beside the TRD pro?
Hi Blueberries! No just Pro
Ok. Thx jeff for the quick response
I got a 2021 Toyota Tacoma trd 4x4 off road and I'm from Senatobia Mississippi
thats 2 wheel drive in my 86.5 nissan SE.. yup, gravy.. you guys are funny
I have a 2006, is the RR diff supposed to flash when it is in use?
I thought that the 22 Runners are going to finally come with full LED Headlights and fogs. How come the daytime running lights are still not LED!
6:13 is that untamed motors?? Nice :)
Good content. Chicago area here.
Hey zeak! I'm a Michigan guy born and raised. Welcome!
Does the 4x4 high or low need to be engaged ? When using lock diff?
You need to be in low
@@Toyotajeff thanks
Wazzuuuppp! You seem cool Jeff
Some baby trail.
Give all Tacomas A trac!!!!
Glad its still available on certain Tacoma's.
I rarely use the locker. MTS in rock mode, when that fails I use the locker

Jeff is the best. well him and Ben Hardy
At 3:22 the noise this dude makes lmao
