    Good video! I also follow Dr. Dray and she says that if a retinol is working for you sometimes there is no need to “upgrade” to a higher strength not everything is about just trying to get the highest strength/percentage of a product.

      Yeah I was relieved hearing this when I found out because I don't want to use something strong or super strong when I don't actually NEED to. My problem is acne (I'm not sure if hormonal or not), clogged pores, some discoloration/superficial scars from said acne, and some sensitivity. It's hard to not want to try things other people are just because you want their results 😬 I'm trying to start from the beginning and work my way up as needed. It'll take years but I don't see any other way.

      @@CoffeeandtyposI found that I got almost no irritation with the dermalogica clearing oil and the new ELF advanced night retinoid serum. I like the dermalogica but wouldn't spend the money again 😅
      Edit: I have gotten to the point where I can use the clearing oil every night. The elf is a little stronger based on the ingredients/percentages. I am currently playing all my retinoids any percent speed run because my dermatologist wants me to just swap to tret 😢

    • @Coffeeandtypos
      @Coffeeandtypos 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @lelalu101 I appreciate this and the update! It seems tret is something that is a quick go-to 'solution'. This bugs me because it's not for everyone, yet some drs rather spend less time getting to know your skin and just want you out the door (which is how it seems sometimes)

    • @lelalu101
      @lelalu101 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@Coffeeandtypos while I absolutely agree that it does seem to be a go to Too Often, I am a bit of an odd bird. I have PCOS acne so she also upped my Spiro and added a clindamycin/Benzoyl peroxide topical as well. It was the last thing we discussed due to my deep scarring and extremely pale skin. If everyone got that kind of care we would probably go to the derm as an earlier option than spending thousands on skincare 😤💕 I might ask to switch to adapelene depending on how the next few months go!

    I didn't know much about adapalene until yesterday (thanks to dr gray❤) and I now understand much better the transition from one product to the next. I didnt know that la roche product was adapalene and I am tempted to try it. I have controlled rosacea, thanks to several ipl sessions my skin has now become quite oily and much healthier, and I have used for several years the eucerin q10 cream and it has been great... But I think its time I jump to the next step and try the retinal from avene or maybe even try the adapalene from la roche... A decisions... I was recommended to keep using every day in the morning my ivermectine cream to control the rosacea and it has been very good. Once you jump to your 30s you must step up the game! Not sure if you're using the 1 or the 3 percent adapolene. If you're using 1 percent, you can move up to the 3, however you do need an Rx for it. Adapolene is going to be a better choice for the adult acne since that is what it's main purpose is. It does also help with aging skin. I use the o.3 percent and it's equivalent to 0.5 percent tretinoin with way less irritation

      I actually went through 2 bottles of this. I liked the texture and product itself, but I didn't notice it did anything to my skin. So I'm looking to try something else. I recall Differin Adapalene making me itch severely (like a week+ of itching), so I avoided it ever since. But I recently found out about the AcneFree version and might try that. It doesn't help that I can't recall if I even used the first Adapalene correctly (since I didn't know much about skincare then, and don't recall my doctor telling me how best to use it), so I guess I'm going to restart the process. 🤔

      Trust me you are doing a good thing by applying a moisturiser first. You will see a smooth ending glossy to touch effect on skin soon after application but if u don’t have acne then the only change u see will be long term and will be in the form of slow aging. Don’t use it every night unless you have used it forever. With retinal more application is not the key, it’s the routine that matters

      the cerave cleanser you mentioned does have salicylic acid which is an active, and is used for exfoliation, therefore if it is used on a regular basis on the face it can be irritating (i’ve dealt with that same issue). This specific cleanser i belive is best used just on the body, especially during the winter, i used to get a couple dry patches on my arm that this cleanser paired with a nourishing moisturiser really helped with. So even though i’m not an expert i don’t think that the cerave retinol would be specifically irritating because of this especially as long as you make an effort to maintain your skin barrier healthy (by moisturising regularly and wearing sunscreen daily, but if not, at least the day after you’ve applied the retinol). Hope this helped! :)

      SA is an active ingredient that dries out the skin. I'm not an expert but I'm assuming SA is your problem and not the brand. I've found from experience that the SA cleanser is best for oily skin and that CeraVe's hydrating cleanser is better for dry skin.

    Why all retinods suddenly stop working? I used many brands and types and they work in few months then after that they make my skin so irritated. I can't use them long term. What baffles me is why do I get irritation after using them after months and not when I was still beginning to use them?
