Hi Dr. Dray i’ve been going to a dermatologist since I was 15 years old for very bad acne. 20 years later I’m just learning how to put sunscreen because of you. I did the whole thing starting from antibiotics, Accutane, Retin A , glycolic acid but to this day I didn’t know how to put sunscreen on. Each of your videos are at least $500 consultation with a dermatologist. Thank you for this wealth of knowledge and thank you for helping humanity.❤️❤️❤️
My derm put me in Accutane too and it was awful. They never healed my acne and they caused more damage. Not until I started using just panoxyl that my acne cleared completely! Now I'm trying to get rid of the scars so I'm gonna try one of this retinols
Same. I saw a derm for the first time about 20 years ago because I had terrible cystic acne. I was on all the oral and topical meds, including steroid injections directly into my cysts! Despite this, I was never taught about actual proper skincare: using gentle cleanser, using moisturizer, and using sunscreen!! I bet half of my scars and skin issues today were self-inflicted from just lack of education. I’m so grateful for derms like Dr. Dray who are creating such fantastic educational content to help those of us correct years of abuse and hopefully prevent others from the same mistakes.
Not all, but most of the doctors do not want you to be fully problem free… not only they wanted you to come back but they wanted to prescribe you different medications… that s how they make their living

Adapalene is becoming more available at a lot of stores, and at much cheaper prices than when it came out on the market. I have bought it at Family Dollar stores for $9 bucks (in Michigan). It works just as good as the name brand Differin Adapalene products.
I'm already using Avene Retrinal 0.1 intensive, just came in here to confirm this is a good choice! I like to use their .05 product around my eyes, it really helps! I'm 60 and don't look it at all!
Dr. Dray , could you make a video on hyperpigmentation on the body, especially for people of color? I’ve always had issues with dark inner thighs, armpits, elbows, knees, now my lips too . What can I do? What products are safe for intimate/ sensitive areas? I’ve tried Kojic acid soap, turmeric soap and scrubs + lotions. I’ve seen a lot of girls with these issues but there doesn’t seem to be a clear answer . Could you tell us about the “Madam Glow” products ? Please help 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

The Retinol resurfacing serum has almost completely removed all of my keratosis pilaris scarring on my arms in only roughly 3 months. I am finally wearing short sleeve tops after hiding my arms for nearly 10 years! ❤️🥲
Hi Dr Dray. Can you explain the difference between hyperpigmentation and Melasma. Also, would you consider doing a video dedicated to Melasma and the best procedures and products to treat it. Thank you.
Olay Regenerist 24 or 24 Max? retinol is the 6th ingredient in line, whereas in Neutrogena the retinol is the 6th from the bottom ingredient...??? would you still say Olay Regenerist is also a moisturizer that you can use all over the face and neck as a moisturizer as a one step after double cleanse?
Me too !!!! When I used to live in US I used to see CeraVe (2011) but never tried because I was using at that time Avene. Now I can’t live without ceraVe❤️💋🥰
Ikr and preferably with same ingredient list. Cerave they sell in France has ceramides almost at the bottom of the list. Which is quite frustrating, price is higher too.
I tried many from cerave brand. I can confirm with confidence that foaming or gentle cleanser with moisturising lotion are the best of all their products
Differin gel is the only retinol that I tried and honestly it’s the best ever , also just got new one but I’m confused why in ulta US it costs 28 dollars while in my country (Saudi Arabia ) costs 5 dollars 🤔?? the same product name with same active ingredient
I bought the Neutrogena and I’m impressed! It’s def faded sunspots on the back of my hands. I’m now focusing on mouth wrinkles to see if there will be a difference there.
I have very acne prone skin. I can not describe in words how much Adapalene and benzoyl peroxide (Epiduo) helped me. No acne at all, less post acneic spots, clearer skin. Recommend it. 🙏🙏🙏 I also use the ordinary Niacinamide and hydration cream + Bioderma Sensibio cleanser 👍👍
Differin (imported by my friend - can not get it here in Germany!) changed my life in my 40s. I will never give up this magic. My adult cystic acne is just GONE. And Dr.Dray was my inspiration. THANK YOU!

*Graveyard workers* Hello! When should graveyard shifts (working overnight) apply retinols? I sleep 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. and although I do have black out curtains there is some light that is there while am sleeping. Should I still use retinols before bed or should I put on before my makeup on my way to work? If I apply it before bed should I also apply sunscreen? Would differin be the better option because you mentioned it doesn't react as much to UV. Thanks!
The retinol wouldn’t have any effect in such a short period of time, but perhaps the other ingredients are hydrating your skin more than you’re used to 😊
Hi Dr. Dray..As a Med student it’s wonderful to learn from an intelligent doctor that’s passionate about their work! I watch your vids all the time!! Thank you for all the credible and UpToDate evidence based info!💗
I have been using differin for 7months and can't be without it, even months ago when Dr.Dray wasn't sure if it helped wrinkles or just acne I was religious about using it. Now Dr.Dray agrees that it helps with anti aging too, so happy I never gave up on it, I also use other over the counter retinol creams for added moisture with no irritation...love it❤
I just bought Hanna Muller RETINALDEHYDE - 3X FASTER ACTING and 2.5X MORE STABLE with Patented Nanoemulsified Formula - HYDRASOOTHE™ Complex for Sensitive Skin - 100% Vegan Is 1.0 % too strong? Should I put a moisture barrier down first? I need to add that in the past I have tried Trentinon several times and each time it has been too hard on my sensitive skin.
Seriously, 5 years ago I purchased the Neutrogena rapid wrinkle repair for night time and the moisturizer with the SPF for the day. It was a two pack. It made my skin tone very even. I was actually surprised because so many products don’t work as well as they claim.
Same result here. Love this product. When using it I only apply moisturiser under my eyes before applying the Neutrogena. I prefer not to get it that close to my eyes. No other moisturiser is needed for my skin on the nights that I use it.
I've tried Neutrogena products. The down side is the application. The product sits on top of the skin and feels grimy and filmy. These types of products make me want to cleans my skin after application; similar to the CeraVe moinsturizer.
CeraVe has always been kind to my super sensitive skin so I’m not knocking their brand but I had to stop using it - I was using the daytime and nighttime moisturizer - oh the Milia on my face!!! Once I stopped using cerave it’s no longer an issue. That’s too bad because it was gentle on my skin otherwise.
I love the fact that you bring true science to these videos. I got started with skincare mainly through the “lifestyle influencers” but recently I noticed lots of them are just throwing the same adjectives not even bothering connecting them with nouns, namely “soothing”, “calming”, “hydrating”. While that may very well be true, I also wonder how much of that calming is needed after we followers spent too much in trying many actives and fads and consequently need all that restoration to happen. While skincare can be fun and a gesture of self care, I have been thinking on the responsible and informed advocacy that may be needed (which I think you do provide).
I thought that too until I found out mine was caused from wearing wire framed glasses for years. My hyperpigmentation is right under where my frames were sitting. Dr. Dray explained that!! Makes since! Lol
I heard you mention that Cerave was owned by L’Oreal. One reason why I like L’Oréal is that they are now cruelty free but the internet stated that Cerave was not. Checking to see how if that makes sense.
Don't support loreal. Not only they are not cruelty free they also support Israel. L'Oreal have worked in Israel since 1990 and their L'Oreal Israel factory operates in Migdal Ha'emek, or rather al-Mujaydil, an occupied Palestinian village. They also use Dead Sea minerals, benefitting from the occupied Palestinian West Bank hosting one third of the Dead Sea shore.
@@candy2325 Is there a reason why we should apply adapalene after moisturizer? I've never used it and I assumed it should be put on before moisturizer?

Dr youn has talk about it and he recommanded it search for the video nam, dr youn quarantine low budget routine
Thoughts about Paula’s Choice 1%?
Any recommendations for a retinol thar is great for dry skin?

Adapalene is becoming more available at a lot of stores, and at much cheaper prices than when it came out on the market. I have bought it at Family Dollar stores for $9 bucks (in Michigan). It works just as good as the name brand Differin Adapalene products.
I'm already using Avene Retrinal 0.1 intensive, just came in here to confirm this is a good choice! I like to use their .05 product around my eyes, it really helps! I'm 60 and don't look it at all!
How does this compare to ELEMIS collagen and ELEMIS Matrix night? Is ELEMIS effective for the price?
As a woman of color ( African - American ) I too have issues of hyperpigmentation . I would love for Dr Dray to talk about Kojic soaps and similar products and their effectiveness .
Waiting for a video on inner thighs too
Yes!!
I woke up this morning and was saying i need something for my inner thighs i was waiting for beauty supply store to open what i used in the past worked great it is called nadina inexpensive and get great results try it iam a licensed esthetician african American

The Retinol resurfacing serum has almost completely removed all of my keratosis pilaris scarring on my arms in only roughly 3 months. I am finally wearing short sleeve tops after hiding my arms for nearly 10 years! ❤️🥲
Thats awesome! I’m very happy for you, thats so exciting!!
Hei dear can you tell me if i can use cerave retnoil for my acne?
Did you use Cerave brand retinol
That’s awesome! I was using 0.3 adapalene for around 6 months and didn’t really help my KP so I’m trying accutane for it right now.
Girl I hope you’re telling the truth because I’m about to max out on everything that has Retinol ingredients in them 🤣🤣🤣
I switched from shani Darden retinol to neutrogena anti aging and I love the neutrogena so glad I made the change. Saved a lot of money too
Hi Dr Dray. Can you explain the difference between hyperpigmentation and Melasma. Also, would you consider doing a video dedicated to Melasma and the best procedures and products to treat it. Thank you.
She’s got a couple videos on just melasma. Hope that helps!
Barbara N: Type “dr dray hyperpigmentation” and “dr dray melasma” in the TH-cam search bar to find videos on these topics. 👏
Is differin good?
Olay Regenerist 24 or 24 Max? retinol is the 6th ingredient in line, whereas in Neutrogena the retinol is the 6th from the bottom ingredient...??? would you still say Olay Regenerist is also a moisturizer that you can use all over the face and neck as a moisturizer as a one step after double cleanse?
Right. Retinol is AFTER the preservative, phenoxyethanol! So is the Sodium Hyaluronate. Phenoxyethanol levels are usually under 1%
I love the Neutrogena Healthy Skin night time retinol cream, it works really well for my sensitive, rosacea prone skin.
I wish Cerave would bring more of their range to the UK 😭🙏🏻
Same in PT :( wish Dr Dray would recommend some things that exist in Europe. I have Cerave but not the entire brand. I have Avene but not that one.
same.philippines here😩👋
I tried many from cerave brand. I can confirm with confidence that foaming or gentle cleanser with moisturising lotion are the best of all their products
How do you feel about Transexaminic acid?
I cannot stop staring at your beautiful, glowy skin! So jealous!
Differin gel is the only retinol that I tried and honestly it’s the best ever , also just got new one but I’m confused why in ulta US it costs 28 dollars while in my country (Saudi Arabia ) costs 5 dollars 🤔?? the same product name with same active ingredient
Hi.. Is it available in saudi arabia
@@michellemendoza3979 yes you can it in all the pharmacy's in Saudi Arabia for 19 SR
As a researcher and diligent consumer I really appreciate that you source the studies you mention. 👍🏻
After a face lift and a 15% peel, What product(s) would you recommend to maintan a youthfull appearance? Head off wrinkles, etc. Thank YOU!
My dermatologist recommended I use differen gel over retinol. He said it was more stable.
It is. It is even photostable and can be used in the morning.
But, isn't differen much stronger?
I WAS RESEARCHING THIS T O D A Y WATCHING ALL YOUR RETINOL VIDEOS TO FIND PRODUCT RECOMMENDATION AND B O O M ! This video!
Very helpful! One question... would it be helpful to use Differin WITH one one of these retinols as an added benefit if irritation is not an issue?
Wondering this as well.. wondering if I can use Differin and the CeraVe one together?
Where must buy shop this cream
For the Aussies...adapaline is prescription. The only product available in Aus is the neutrogena, the others are all hard to find online.
I bought Differin from iherb! Haven't started using it yet tho :) You can get the neutrogena one too from there, I just checked.
You have in ausralia asap cosmatics great brand and have retinol
It’s not tretinoin tho ليان ٣٠٥
iherb discontinued it
I bought the Neutrogena and I’m impressed!
I also use the ordinary Niacinamide and hydration cream + Bioderma Sensibio cleanser 👍👍
Differin (imported by my friend - can not get it here in Germany!) changed my life in my 40s. I will never give up this magic. My adult cystic acne is just GONE. And Dr.Dray was my inspiration. THANK YOU!
Pianocat katarina have you noticed hyperpigmentation from using diffren
I was looking for it on pharmacies today here in Portugal and found out it's not available in Europe :( I need it
@@ritasharqawi7367 I have been using it for several months for hyper pigmentation and I have seen improvement.
Maura Silva hey, you can find it on iherb, when I was in Portugal, I bought it on internet as well.
@@vivianelima148 thank you very much!
Wouldn’t generic Adapaline be just as effective as the brand names you mention?
Hi Doctor Dray would love a video on the top Myths on retinols . That would be fantastic !
Neutrogena rapid wrinkle repair burns when I put it on also it pills badz
There is before and after finding Dr Dray! It’s so wonderful to have access to all of her content. She is the only one that I spend hours watching. She helped me so much with my alopecia, skin care, life style you name it. Thank you Dray!!! ❤️
What did you use for alopecia?
@@tremeicewebb4705 I had same question. My bf has struggles with hair loss and wondered his Dr. Dray has any products she recommends for it.
Hey there is Olay retinol 24 a good moisturiser for anti-aging
Having Dr. Dray in my life is like having a personal Dermatologist for free. 💖
Yes, please! I bet they love to hear the Retinol’s myth tooooo
Better than my Derm, mine never talks to me about anything than what I'm there for.

I love love Dr.Dray! Thank you for giving us insight about skin care and products. I used to get so overwhelmed with what products and ingredients to watch out for. Now because of your videos I’m a better informed shopper and I take better care of my skin. 😉☺️

Thanks!
Personally I put my retinol before work, since sunlight is a big no no for us tret users. 🤧❤️
I recently started using the CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Cream and I can definitely see results in just a few days. So glad I purchaed this.
The retinol wouldn’t have any effect in such a short period of time, but perhaps the other ingredients are hydrating your skin more than you’re used to 😊
Hi. Do you use moisturizer after the cerave retinol serum?
It takes several months for retinol to start having any kind of visual effect. It’s definitely the placebo effect
How good is yeouth retinol serum?
Would love to know your thoughts on the retinol serum from Naturium
Hi Dr. Dray..As a Med student it’s wonderful to learn from an intelligent doctor that’s passionate about their work! I watch your vids all the time!! Thank you for all the credible and UpToDate evidence based info!💗
I wonder where she went to med school
D'Andra Ramsaran I am a doc and I like watching.
I have been using differin for 7months and can't be without it, even months ago when Dr.Dray wasn't sure if it helped wrinkles or just acne I was religious about using it. Now Dr.Dray agrees that it helps with anti aging too, so happy I never gave up on it, I also use other over the counter retinol creams for added moisture with no irritation...love it❤
So I'd it ok to use Differin AND the Neutrogena one together? Or do you just need one or the other?
@@melissataylor7436 good question that I wish someone would answer
I just bought Hanna Muller RETINALDEHYDE - 3X FASTER ACTING and 2.5X MORE STABLE with Patented Nanoemulsified Formula - HYDRASOOTHE™ Complex for Sensitive Skin - 100% Vegan
Is 1.0 % too strong? Should I put a moisture barrier down first? I need to add that in the past I have tried Trentinon several times and each time it has been too hard on my sensitive skin.
Can you provide recommendations which are able to be purchased in the UK
You can get Differin (adapalene) from a website called Dr Fox, it's not as cheap but it allows for quick delivery in the UK :)
Did you find any products? I have been looking at The Inkey List to start me off... I'm nervous though hahaa
Seriously, 5 years ago I purchased the Neutrogena rapid wrinkle repair for night time and the moisturizer with the SPF for the day. It was a two pack. It made my skin tone very even. I was actually surprised because so many products don’t work as well as they claim.
do you still have to apply moisturizer after the Neutrogena rabbit wrinkle repair, thanks a lot?
Same result here. Love this product. When using it I only apply moisturiser under my eyes before applying the Neutrogena. I prefer not to get it that close to my eyes. No other moisturiser is needed for my skin on the nights that I use it.
Where I'm living don't sell it any more, I'm looking for a dupe now 😢
@@weilingly7664 rabbit?
I've watched this video several times and shared it with so many people looking for help with retinoids. Awesome resource!
What's your take on body washes that claim to have retinol in it like Olay? Is there any point in that stuff??
I've tried Neutrogena products. The down side is the application. The product sits on top of the skin and feels grimy and filmy. These types of products make me want to cleans my skin after application; similar to the CeraVe moinsturizer.
Try using less product and/or use on damp skin.
Cerave moisturizer clog pores
Started using CVS brand adapalene and have been loving it. Great price too.
What about Paula's Choice Retinol ?
Retinols were something that actually gave me hyperpigmentation in the first place !!!
I thought that too until I found out mine was caused from wearing wire framed glasses for years. My hyperpigmentation is right under where my frames were sitting. Dr. Dray explained that!! Makes since! Lol
@@cindyduhon1343 well, I developed hyperpigmentation on my forehead too - I do not put my glasses over there.
Did you use sunscreen in the morning cuz retinol makes you extra sun sensitive which then causes melasma

I heard you mention that Cerave was owned by L’Oreal. One reason why I like L’Oréal is that they are now cruelty free but the internet stated that Cerave was not. Checking to see how if that makes sense.
l'oreal is not cruelty free as stated by PETA
Don't support loreal. Not only they are not cruelty free they also support Israel. L'Oreal have worked in Israel since 1990 and their L'Oreal Israel factory operates in Migdal Ha'emek, or rather al-Mujaydil, an occupied Palestinian village. They also use Dead Sea minerals, benefitting from the occupied Palestinian West Bank hosting one third of the Dead Sea shore.
