We can't forget the mint mace is fresh damage out of the box and is getting the mighty upgrades which is much more damage compared to the elemental upgrades. The tic sword used to be my favorite one handed weapon with that life steal but they nerfed it into oblivion so now the toe nail sword is my go to one handed weapon.
@@Paraly5er Yes I would agree, but still at the very least having the corresponding weapon mutation turned on would probably help to make the results a bit more pragmatic. Things like buff lungs or other more general mutations would only serve as a pretty static buff for all weapons, so I don’t think those are as important

The other argument would be that the club would have another mutation slot that the other weapons don't due to not using barbarian which could be something like coup de grass.
Without the enemies fighting back attack speed isn’t as much of a factor, so some of these results are a bit skewed. Still, given movement, attack patterns, and overall positioning of the AI can’t be faithfully replicated, I enjoy that you went for a more simplistic methodology that proved easy to replicate. I can tell this must’ve taken quite some time to set up and conduct your experiment, awesome video, keep up the great work!
Thanks Andrew! You're correct as weapons like the hammer usually can't even get off a full combo. But even with the hammer getting full combos off here it's still a crap weapon LOL.
@@Paraly5eridk why the devs would ever think of nerfing the hammer when it’s terrible to kill everything in the game, I killed the assistant manager with a tier 2 hammer in 1.12 because I just thought hammer weakness = use hammer and yeah basically it’s terrible and I died multiple times trying despite having my dad help as a second person shooting hm
great video, though I think some weapons would fair a lot better if they had their respected mutations on. Having an almost endless stamina meter with slashing weapons is great when fighting hords.

You are completely correct but as you say it's much harder to tell when that first input happens. This has a small impact on enemies with large health bars but a larger impact on enemies with small health bars. It wouldn't effect the overall time by a huge amount though.
Kind of hard since everyone uses different builds. I thought about trying to find the best dps build and maybe do a top gear style thing where I kill every enemy with the build and then put it on a leaderboard with times
I used the mint mace as my default in the upper yard for most of the game. Larvas, fire ants, lady birds,… But after apex predator I simply take the clubs for everything beside the black widow.
Nice video! I see the toenail sword moved up! haha I do have a request/suggestion. These videos are all well and good, but they don't really show what's actually good in game. You're just wailing on insects that stand there and don't fight back. It would be good to make a video where insects fight back, where you have to block and avoid damage and you don't get guaranteed three-hit combos, especially with slow two-handed weapons. That's my main gripe with slower two-handed weapons. Theoretically they can do a bit more damage per hit than something like the toenail sword, BUT, in reality, in game and in a real fight where a bug fights back and you have to block and avoid damage and you have small windows where you can attack, you'd do less damage and I don't believe those two-handed weapons would be at the top. I believe the insects will die slower because you're not going to get anywhere near as many three-hit combos and you'll take more damage when blocking compared to a shield. Make a video like this and I bet the rankings would be much different. I think I'll go test it out a little. Maybe fight black widows and time how long it takes me to beat them with two-handed vs one-hand w/shield. Idk, I'm working on building a new base though so maybe not, lol.
Just hard to test because enemies do different combos every time you attack them. So the results would largely depend on the attack choices of the enemies. I understand where you are coming from but this is to find the best purely from a dps standpoint which I tried to make as FAIR as possible
Now you should also consider that the mace gets bounse damage from going mighty over fresh but I’m happy the og tier three takes the win and now it between the club and the battle axe
Get the Picnic and Sandbox BURG.L chip.s. The flower petals are easy to get, make the globs using mint shards from the mint box in spawn. Get the tough gunk from Ladybirds is usually what I find easiest.
Ok so I’m not trying to be a jerk here, but I think you’ve overlooked a critical detail in your tests, none of your bugs fight back, they are just sitting still, taking their beats. If this was a real world game play, the bugs would be moving and fighting back, that variable would and should impact how good a weapon truly is. Meaning if you have a weapon that’s too slow, you’ll miss more hits, if you miss the hits, it won’t rank as high. Hence the test is flawed. I’d suggest testing in real world gameplay, then showing results, I appreciate your efforts in the videos, they are well done and the layout of the info is good, except the outcome is flawed as per my suggestion.
This is a numbers test not a gameplay test at all. I've mentioned this to him, maybe after the flavor list he can do an ALL OUT build test to see the ACTUAL best weapon on every bug.

No matter what armour I’m wearing, if I have a mint mace and if I miss a number of hits on a big which is moving around in the game, because the mace is slow, then that rank of “best” is likely to change to a weapon that is faster and does less damage per hit, but hits the bug more often.
@@bubbaganoosh814 The exclusion of bosses was a tell tale sign. I'd bet from in-game experience that poison builds on daggers is the best. Axe might be second due to its mastery mutation being my personal favorite. Stamina bonus and a resistance reduction is really good.

@@Paraly5er putting a candy element on a generic damage type weapon renoves the generic damage entirely. It also removes the secondary damage type if the weapon has one. A Fresh Spiky Sprig will do the same damage type as the Mint Mace. A Salty Club of The Mother Demon will do the same damage type as the Salty Morningstar. Just that element, no longer generic. This is pretty huge as many enemies have a hidden generic damage resistance. The secondary slashing dagger damage type of the Scythe of Blossoms is also lost when a candy infusion is gained. Try comparing a level 7 mighty Scythe against an enemy weak to slashing to a level 9 candy-upgraded scythe against that weak-to-slash enemy. If the candy type does not matter to that type of bug, the level 7 Scythe will deal more damage.
1. Feel like an issue with the methodology is that a weapons effectiveness shouldnt be measured by time to enemy death alone. Other factors affect a weapons effectiveness such as how good it is at keeping you alive. A slow but powerful weapon can do a lot of damage but can leave you vulnerable to attacks especially if you run out of stamina when blocking or fighting swarms of enemies.
Yeah this is mostly just testing the dps. This is the best weapon in terms of dps in the game. The 2 handed weapons leave you more vulnerable like you say but they also require the most skill to use.
I was thinking that it's also important to think of the strongest or most important targets. after a certain point, it doesn't matter if it works well on red ants and termites, the most important is to kill the strongest quickly or farm materials. I'm sure the rankings would change if you only targeted things that have no resistance to the weapons too.
@@joshuaduck4139 The whole point is to target enemies that are weak to fresh. Because you are only going to kill enemies weak to fresh with a fresh weapon. Why would I test it against an enemy weak to spicy? I'd just use a spicy weapon.
Forget to put in initial post but another aspect is swarm control, how well does a weapon do 1 on 1 is going to be different from fighting multiple of the same type. The easiest ones that come to mind are ants or ladybird larvae or during defense events
So nice of Grounded devs to make the worst enemy in the game craft the worst T3 weapon, hope the Tiger Mosquito Rapier manages to complete it's quest on finishing last on every element.
5:40 no, for some reason the game flat out lies about that, some bugs are weak or resistant to generic, you can see on the wiki and maybe do testing if your not sure
But the point is to figure out the best. So I levelled them all up to the max level. The mint mace being fresh by default isn't it's fault. I made every weapon as powerful as it can possibly be.
I still use the mint mace to this day the club of the mother demon sure DOES THE MOST DMG OUT OF ANY WEAPON ever but theres one thing IT IS SLOWER THAN A SNAIL RUNNING A 100 METER TRACK the mint mace is just better in speed

3:50 are you... hitting a bombardier beetle... with a hammer... it's resistant to hammers, why even show that, nobody would ever do that. You should show the best insect it worked on, not the worst.
I used the weapons on every enemy weak to the element. The idea was to find the best fresh weapon at killing all enemies weak to fresh. I also provided a table at the end of the video that shows the best weapon for killing each enemy. To make it a fair test every weapon has to kill every enemy.
I honestly don't like your method, most people should only use the weapons on what they're good at, and just through resistance, the Fresh is most effective on hammers because most other things can be added to the other weapons lists. Almost Everything weak to chopping is either also weak to, or not resistant to Spicy, so a spicy axe is the most useful spicy weapon, even if it's not the best spicy weapon you should put into account what hammers/axes/spears/etc are most useful on and compare them to what works better. The best Fresh weapon might not be the best weapon to kill the things with Fresh weaknesses because the weakness it's working on is the weapon not the flavor. hammers are specifically good against the things they're enchanted for, like Salty black ox for the black ox Beatle might only be beaten by one or 2 weapons for that specific insect and I'd rather have the utility to kill that quickly on my hammer so i don't need another weapon when i can kill almost anything else quicky enough with my spicy termite axe I think the maces only won in the end cuz of the Fire ants and ladybugs which aren't important targets. I understand that's not the point, but it would be cool to see videos in the future detailing the best weapons to have if you just want one of each like where the flavors go if you only get one of each, Spicy, Fresh, Salty, Sour, Slashing, Bashing, Stabbing, Chopping, and Club.
The mint mace got 13 gold medals. It was best at killing 13/19 enemies. It didn't just win because it was good at killing the fire ant and ladybugs. It won because it was the best fresh weapon overall. In terms of type weaknesses there are 5 more enemies resistant to chopping than are weak to it, making chopping the WORST damage type. The best type to combine with spicy is busting or generic. In terms of fresh, busting is the WORST damage type as 5 more enemies are resistant to it than weak. The best damage type for fresh is slashing with 2 more enemies weak to it than resistant to it. For salty busting is the best damage type as 1 more enemy is weak to busting than resistant to it. I took into account what works best using the medal system. As mentioned the mint mace got 13/19 gold medals. This includes one against the green shield bug. The green shield bug is weak to stabbing damage but neither the rusty spear nor the tiger mosquito rapier got a medal. The rusty spear was 4th and the rapier was 12th.
@@Paraly5er I still think it's a good video idea to do one of each weapon type and flavor to see the most use and best weapons you can get with that limit. In my own playthrough I used Spicy Axe not because it was best at killing. But because it had the least resistances and was good at killing most things. I didn't need to make other weapons and waste resources because it was effective against mosquitoes bees and spiders (except widow and infected wolf). There's probably a better way, but these videos aren't the math for that. This is just dps vs everything. I'd like to see what you say is the best weapon of each type, limited to holding one weapon of each type. What flavors would you use on which weapons when you only have one choice for each. Slashing, Chopping, Bashing, Stabbing, Club, Sour, Fresh Spicy, and Salty. Like I said that's the reason I use fresh hammer and spicy axe. Not cuz they are best, but because I wanted utility out of carrying an axe and hammer and wanting them to be useful other than just tools, the axe is versatile but the hammer only kills ladybugs and if it was salty it'd only kill black ox. I'm not saying it's great but it's the best I could think to do with the hammer because it only needs to kill one type of thing when the other weapons are better. The one choice each limit is cu that's how people play when resources are limited, so when this series is done with the sour weapons you could compare them to see which weapon type is best in each flavor or something And remember numbers in that case don't matter if your not hitting all bases. It doesn't matter if Fresh Club gets 13 gold medals if what it's killing matches a better weapon, so you'd have to go down the list to a different fresh weapon or different club. (Random example, i dont know if it would lose out to other weapons, it might even be the Fresh weapon with no room for Club of the Demon)
Sometimes, they are stronger when thrown but I used them was melee here. I'd include them when testing the ranged weapons to see how they compare to these.

Maybe you could also test them with the mutations and amor that you should use for the specific weapons. And compare it with the naked times.

Yep, even the generic club is good against the widow, the venom can drain her health. I still think that the mace is good until you beat the mantis.

Myth: when you put food in the fresh storage you can take it out and put it back it to reset the spoil timer
No the fridge just freezes the spoil timer, you can't increase it unless you cook the food.

A slow but powerful weapon can do a lot of damage but can leave you vulnerable to attacks especially if you run out of stamina when blocking or fighting swarms of enemies.
Yeah this is mostly just testing the dps. This is the best weapon in terms of dps in the game. The 2 handed weapons leave you more vulnerable like you say but they also require the most skill to use.
I was thinking that it's also important to think of the strongest or most important targets. after a certain point, it doesn't matter if it works well on red ants and termites, the most important is to kill the strongest quickly or farm materials. I'm sure the rankings would change if you only targeted things that have no resistance to the weapons too.
@@joshuaduck4139 The whole point is to target enemies that are weak to fresh. Because you are only going to kill enemies weak to fresh with a fresh weapon. Why would I test it against an enemy weak to spicy? I'd just use a spicy weapon.
Forget to put in initial post but another aspect is swarm control, how well does a weapon do 1 on 1 is going to be different from fighting multiple of the same type. The easiest ones that come to mind are ants or ladybird larvae or during defense events
So nice of Grounded devs to make the worst enemy in the game craft the worst T3 weapon, hope the Tiger Mosquito Rapier manages to complete it's quest on finishing last on every element.

5:40 no, for some reason the game flat out lies about that, some bugs are weak or resistant to generic, you can see on the wiki and maybe do testing if your not sure

i have a suggestion. To rank each weapon more accurately, upgrade them until they have the same added damage percent.
But the point is to figure out the best. So I levelled them all up to the max level. The mint mace being fresh by default isn't it's fault. I made every weapon as powerful as it can possibly be.

They are the same speed as each other. This is also based on damage per second not damage per hit.

The test has bugs ignore players enabled. If the enemies attacked back they would have different attack patterns every time making the test unfair.

I used the weapons on every enemy weak to the element. The idea was to find the best fresh weapon at killing all enemies weak to fresh. I also provided a table at the end of the video that shows the best weapon for killing each enemy. To make it a fair test every weapon has to kill every enemy.
I honestly don't like your method, most people should only use the weapons on what they're good at, and just through resistance, the Fresh is most effective on hammers because most other things can be added to the other weapons lists.
Almost Everything weak to chopping is either also weak to, or not resistant to Spicy, so a spicy axe is the most useful spicy weapon, even if it's not the best spicy weapon
you should put into account what hammers/axes/spears/etc are most useful on and compare them to what works better.
The best Fresh weapon might not be the best weapon to kill the things with Fresh weaknesses because the weakness it's working on is the weapon not the flavor.
hammers are specifically good against the things they're enchanted for, like Salty black ox for the black ox Beatle might only be beaten by one or 2 weapons for that specific insect and I'd rather have the utility to kill that quickly on my hammer so i don't need another weapon when i can kill almost anything else quicky enough with my spicy termite axe
I think the maces only won in the end cuz of the Fire ants and ladybugs which aren't important targets.

like where the flavors go if you only get one of each, Spicy, Fresh, Salty, Sour, Slashing, Bashing, Stabbing, Chopping, and Club.
The mint mace got 13 gold medals. It was best at killing 13/19 enemies. It didn't just win because it was good at killing the fire ant and ladybugs. It won because it was the best fresh weapon overall.
In terms of type weaknesses there are 5 more enemies resistant to chopping than are weak to it, making chopping the WORST damage type. The best type to combine with spicy is busting or generic.
In terms of fresh, busting is the WORST damage type as 5 more enemies are resistant to it than weak. The best damage type for fresh is slashing with 2 more enemies weak to it than resistant to it.
For salty busting is the best damage type as 1 more enemy is weak to busting than resistant to it.
I took into account what works best using the medal system. As mentioned the mint mace got 13/19 gold medals. This includes one against the green shield bug. The green shield bug is weak to stabbing damage but neither the rusty spear nor the tiger mosquito rapier got a medal. The rusty spear was 4th and the rapier was 12th.
@@Paraly5er I still think it's a good video idea to do one of each weapon type and flavor to see the most use and best weapons you can get with that limit. In my own playthrough I used Spicy Axe not because it was best at killing. But because it had the least resistances and was good at killing most things. I didn't need to make other weapons and waste resources because it was effective against mosquitoes bees and spiders (except widow and infected wolf). There's probably a better way, but these videos aren't the math for that. This is just dps vs everything.
I'd like to see what you say is the best weapon of each type, limited to holding one weapon of each type. What flavors would you use on which weapons when you only have one choice for each. Slashing, Chopping, Bashing, Stabbing, Club, Sour, Fresh Spicy, and Salty.
Like I said that's the reason I use fresh hammer and spicy axe. Not cuz they are best, but because I wanted utility out of carrying an axe and hammer and wanting them to be useful other than just tools, the axe is versatile but the hammer only kills ladybugs and if it was salty it'd only kill black ox. I'm not saying it's great but it's the best I could think to do with the hammer because it only needs to kill one type of thing when the other weapons are better.
The one choice each limit is cu that's how people play when resources are limited, so when this series is done with the sour weapons you could compare them to see which weapon type is best in each flavor or something
And remember numbers in that case don't matter if your not hitting all bases. It doesn't matter if Fresh Club gets 13 gold medals if what it's killing matches a better weapon, so you'd have to go down the list to a different fresh weapon or different club. (Random example, i dont know if it would lose out to other weapons, it might even be the Fresh weapon with no room for Club of the Demon)

Sometimes, they are stronger when thrown but I used them was melee here. I'd include them when testing the ranged weapons to see how they compare to these.
