Played this game while trying to stay away from wiki/outside information as much as possible. I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much if I didn't. Sometimes you don't want to find the best solution. Don't let people optimize the fun out of the game for you. At the very least do it yourself and on your own pace. Because aiming to beat the game asap changes it into a job you want to be done with.

@@Gmanproiscool nothing wrong with that, but not everyone wants to be spoon fed. I found all but like 20 Molars/ mega molars and had to look up help for the last few. Note: im still not done but i only have 10 left. and between youtube and just adventuring i found most myself. But me and my husband enjoy finding weird quirks in game.
That only works in a reality where grinding the amount this game asks from you is fun. Subnautica is probably my favorite survival game precisely because i can singlemindedly pursue a goal and the game doesn't ask me to "take it slow" and I can proceed at brisk pace.
Not sure if it's common knowledge, but another thing the game doesn't tell you is that you can only harvest mosquito blood sacks if you allow the mosquito to damage you with an attack. You'll see its abdomen swell and turn red during the fight; that is the sign that it will drop upon defeat.
You don't have to let it damage you, it is specifically the triple attack that it does. You can perfect block it on the first one and it's abdomen will grow red and allow you to harvest blood sack.
@@kronnie13 idk were yall got that? the drain is an attack indicator for a triple strike, while the blood sack indicates health steal. however a blood sack isnt in requirement of any of that to my knowledge, just rly smart and interesting animation
It seems to trigger on any damage dealt. Mosquitos hitting a block with a weapon - or a shield - will have that effect. Parrying an attack will prevent it, though.
There’s no ALLOWING those things to hit me, they just suck 😆
@@dr.menyac6499 where I got it you ask? From experience my guy. I have fought against plenty of mosquitoes, perfect blocking all of their attacks, and still get the blood sac.
Take mushroom bricks everywhere, you can build and jump on half walls in order to get to many resources in areas

I feel a bit silly now because I thought about closing in a wolf spider around the big oak tree in with a stem wall but I have no means of defense carrying planks so this helps a lot

Dr Tully tells you to go defeat Schmector in his dialogue. The game never makes a trackable quest for it. But, Tully does tell you to go over there stating that he thinks there's a lab there that isn't his or something.
and in the bad ending he says that he can't escape the thought that there were more things to do in the backyard.. and the game saves before the ending, so just load it up and continue. :)
Burg.l has to hack the door. And the battle is fairly easy. The spiders is what gets you the most. You have to bring a lot of blood sacks
I noticed it once I seen bugs have antennas on their heads. Which can make bombs

Here’s some fact: when you are using shovel there is a super long animation when using it, so when you actually hit some resource you can block and repeat you can gather resources like this much faster

@@duumslayer8782 that, and underwater in the pond. Definitely helpful to speed up there too.
This speeds up the attack animations that cycle as well, do your combo instead of a single attack and a quick block will reset it rather than waiting longer than the actual time between animations

#11: Aphid slippers Increase movement speed by 20%, but reduce it by 20% when in enemy combat (according to the wiki). I kept wondering why I would run from monsters and feel like I was running through quicksand!
Another tip regarding the mosquitoes. You can still hand in the Aux chips and it won't trigger them to spawn!
A tip I never see is that the mint staff is incredibly good vs mosquitoes and fire ants that constantly bug you in the upper yard. It’s simple to cancel the cooldown by block canceling to attack quickly without charging. I think it’s overall the best weapon in the game. Really good in all the defense events because of its AoE.

Does the sus mint add to its dmg I want ice queen willow
The best weapon I have is the mint mace, black widow dagger, spicy coaltana and the tick macuahuitl. I have all the wizard staffs and they kinda suck
The best weapon in the game HANDS DOWN is the broodmother club and the club you get by unlocking the chamber after defeating the manager in the black ant hill

I knew 7 out of 10 of these. I'm SO happy you told about the two endings because i thought the director was the ending AFTER the java-matic. I figured he prevented it from working or something and so then we had to go fight him. Much appreciated!

You know what I wish I knew? Bees are not peaceful dispite being on the list. Spent so damn long trying to get my stuff back after a gang of them decided that they don't want me.
They became more aggressive I think after this full game update. They used to rarely agro me. Now I’m within 30 real size feet they are coming for me.

I noticed the combo system when using clubs against the robots - since it swings so slowly, I only really get a chance to hit twice before having to back off to not take damage. So, I happened to realize that the first two hits of the combo would not take them out with the upgrades I had at the time, but if I pre-swung the first hit while closing, the second and third hit would get me a kill every time.
It's less obvious with the faster weapons like daggers and the mosquito rapier, but I have been noticing I get a lot more damage if I manage to get all the hits in. When the enemy will let you. Like, how are you supposed to combo against a bee or mosquito which flies away immediately?

Technically the game _does_ tell you about the "Good" ending. Wendell has a voiceline where he mentions the secret lab, that's where you find Schmector. You just have to find the lab. I got the "Good" ending on my first playthrough thinking it was just part of the normal storyline until I saw people saying that it was an alternate ending
I spoiled myself on my playthrough, (from when I was checking if the game had a battleaxe, lol). Where does the game tells you specifically about the secret lab or the castle?
I had thought that it wasn't fair to normal players that its so secret. That you specifically need to go there AFTER you have Tully. Does he tell you if you ask him about the cure once you finish at the javamatic?
@@yukowolfang8645 When Wendell is telling you to go to the Javamatic, he mentions that Schmector most likely has a secret ORC lab somewhere in the yard, but he doesn't know where it is. I'm not sure if the game has been updated for this, but when I beat the game with the "bad ending" a few days ago, when I got my score, the game directly had a message that said "Find a cure for Wendell's raisining" to improve my score- I'm guessing that's a new feature though, considering the comments here.
I’ve had grounded for only a few weeks and the only this i can say is that I hate spiders now.
#2. The only attack in the game that doesn't have a hit combo is unarmed attacking. Your unarmed attacks always deal 100% damage unless they crit, in which case they do more.
Increase your inventory space on the go by taking a storage chest with you everywhere. Now, since they no longer instantly revert back to the spot you left them when you get threatened, it’s the easiest way to go out and gather tons of resources to bring back to camp. You can swim with the chests in relocation mode, but deploying your glider cancels it so be aware. Anytime I go fight bosses or anything now I take a chest with me full of everything I could possibly need - just be careful if you get in a fight and get away from the chest before engaging hostile insects cause if they break it everything inside is deleted basically.
Not sure if you know this and left it out for space, but if your chest gets destroyed a tiny little sack will pop out that you can still loot if you know it's location. It can be incredibly hard to spot and sometimes clips through the floor and is unreachable, but I always mark my chest on map when I have to leave it somewhere for this reason
This sounds extremely tedious…
@@Checkmarkz if you are talking about the chest moving itself, it really isn't that bad. You get used to it after your second or third roam with it. 4 sap 4 acorn shells and 2 clover petals is super easy to muster and more than doubles your inventory. Honestly, I'm gonna still do it even if they add a new way to increase storage.
If you are talking about trying to find a destroyed chest in the middle of woods that all look the same.... yes. It is very tedious.

@@Checkmarkz not nearly as tedious as only having 6-7 inventory slots and having to make multiple trips to carry items.
I think my top tip I wish the game told me is that I can hot deposit my inventory into the nearby correct chests by pressing n!
The Mosquito thing is something I did, however when I went to get the Broodmother BLT recipe I was attacked by a Tiger Mosquito, so be careful. As well with getting the "true" ending, you can fight DS after the Javamatic defence and still get it; it doesn't have to be beforehand.
Regarding the looking at your buffs and debunks, you do know you don't have to go to the Status tab of the menu. You should be able to highlight the effects in the bottom right of your Inventory tab.
A thing to add to the arrow damage types: The damage type every weapon and ammo does is displayed as a little icon on the top right of its item card in the inventory
I'm playing it for the first time right now, the doc does suggest finding out where the orc bugs are coming from. It just so happens I saved before going to that castle lol
I've been playing for a week or two and just learned how to rename storage bins and chests. Such a game changer. Also learned I can make trail markers look different so I can remember where things are
the thing about the combo is likely to lean into that sort of combat dance in this, the enemy does an attack, you block or parry, you attack and have just enough time to get a 3 hit combo off on most heavy weapons, then the enemy attacks again, repeat until someones dead. that way theres a sort of flow to combat instead of just button mashing
Excellent video! I was looking for tips but didn’t want to get spoiled, it’s hard to find the right amount of information. Thanks to you I know that quartzite and marble are craftable later on. But I can still figure out how to do it myself!
The mosquito thing is also fairly new to you posting this, beforehand they were out and about all the time but the devs after the game was out for weeks decided they were really strong against new players so they changed the system to what it is now, can't even tell you how many times my friend died to a mosquito just to collect his 1 bag that had low tier gear.
They also followed you across the map once they spotted you. Then they'd camp your backpack. Too annoying.
Important thing that the game does not tell you is that the bugs have body sections and that does matter regarding the scavenging the resources from them.The example is the head of ladybug; if you keep attacking that part of the bug, there is a smaller possibility or even none that part of body will be dropped.

When I spend so much trouble trying to cut down the grass and weeds in the sandbox to build up to the sandcastle, and then you casually mention that you can send grass planks and weed stems down the ziplines

The renaming also works for Trail Markers, which I also find extremely helpful
tip for anyone trying to get to the upper yard early, you literally don't have to build a single thing. if you go to the bird bath, and up the tunnel just north of it, then follow the rocky ledge to the wall, you can parkour up the grass and spike-leaf plant right there to get up the wall, and from there run along the wall all the way to the upper yard. completely doable with zero items, on a fresh character, with no mutations. easier than most parkour jumps as well.
quartz and marble do respawn. but only in unnamed locations. f.e. the ladybird larva burrow. every 30 or so ingame days they can be farmed again. i dont know the exact number of days, but we farm quartz and marble in the desert, the tree stump and the ladybird larva burrow every now and then.
Algee is a good source of food since it doesn't spoil

I'm pretty sure the way the arrows work is that they do stabbing damage and elemental and the damages get calculated separately and added together, same as the coaltana

The Smithing Station requires 1 brittle quartzite shard and 1 brittle marble shard in its crafting recipe, making it a finite work station.
one thing i didnt know that i only just found out a couple days ago is that any sort of venom attacks dont work on spiders, only poison does?
I have had brittle quartsite respawn in a couple place. One that I recall is somewhere in the black ant hill. I have mined that node a few times now. Not sure how often as I have well over 250 in-game days but I know for a fact I have mined the same node in there a few times, and I have mined nodes in areas I'm sure I cleared out beforehand. Could be a bug but I doubt it. It just seems to take a very very very long time.
clay also respawns. it seems dependant on how much you have consumed from the map. ie if you clear almost all the spawns of a certain resource, then wait ~2 days in game time, those resources will start to spawn again
The biggest thing I've noticed about this game since I got it is that all combat is based on perfect party. If you master perfect party it seems like most enemies simply cannot harm you. Perfect parrying a mosquito actually knocks it from the air when it does its dive attack and stuns it. That makes em pretty easy to handle.
i found out at a random time you can block cancel on like every weapon at like any time except for maybe bows i didnt try that. so basically you can use a heavy weapon and get the 3 hit combo then block cancel it and do it again
You can beat the Javamatic then save if you want both endings. All that matters is if you beat the director before enlarging.
I'm not thru the entire video but for flower petals DO NOT 3 hit the flowers. If you only 2 hit them they heal after idk how long but you can come back after sleeping and do 2 more hits without breaking the entire flower
So they also not respawn if broken?
@@gavinsfriend5222 i broke all of them on the tree side of the yard then saw a post about it and only 2 hit the ones across the pond they have continued to give petals but the tree side has not regrown

You mentioned something else when speaking about meals . Its pretty known that tier one and tier two give the same buff.
Nowhere did it mention that time is different! I play grounded from the start and I had no idea untill you mentioned it now .
You can do javamatic then final boss before getting big it still woks too
You don't have to do the java matic step for each ending. You can do the java matic one time and the bad ending then when you reload the save to activate the spac.r step you can do the good ending. I did it this way without knowing there was a good ending and everything worked out perfectly when I completed the good ending.
I wish I knew that infected bugs would spawn in other places after you plug the haze, we plugged ours and then some larva and a lady bug moved into our back yard (behind the pagoda)
So my build is a rusty spear build.. what the game doesn't tell u also is that the spears stack so when u throw one any other spear of it's type will appear back in your hand... so if you level up a few spear and want to kill bosses faster u can keep throwing them doing massive damage
Upgrade stones big tip. I hoarded upgrade mats until I had pinch whacker and ladybug armor. Slowly upgraded them to 5 as they broke. Kept hoarding mats until I had roly poly armor and T3 axe and hammer. Took them to lvl 6 immediately with the bonuses and will just upgrade instead of repair until I get new armor again.
Doing the GOOD ending pre boss also gives you the recipe to craft tier 3 upgrade materials
You can now do the director after the Java Matic Defense. I did. I got the bad ending first the reloaded my save and got the good one. Oh, and I’d love a NG+ mode.
The game _technically_ does tell you about which arrows do stabbing/other damages, by the little icons on the right.
But really good to call that out all the same.

Also you can stack the effects of sleeping on a bed for some reason. Wtich means as long as you sleep before your effect time is up you can sleep again, and again, and again, and so-on to where you can get through a day without even eating and maybe drinking
Very good guide, only one thing id change. They do explain that the scab meters change the appearance of your HUD.

my game save is so old i've gotten the quartzite and marble to respawn like 4 times - basically any time theres a major update i get that plus all the raw science resets around the map
So I'm not sure if it's a glitch or bug but I have had all of the marble and quartzite respawn in places like the black and lab and the sand box. It took a really long time, maybe 30+ in game days, but they came back 🤷♂️
Small correction:
You can NOT craft the shards of the finite resource. The recipe you get is for the refined variant (whitestone and armor plating), not the shards themselves (quartzite and marble). Why this matters is in order to make a smithing station, it requires the finite shards, not the renewable refined variant. Meaning you theoretically can only have a finite number of smithing stations in your world, and if they get destroyed and there are no more brittle shards in your world, you can no longer have a smithing station in your world without cheating or reloading.
This is exclusively the only item in the game that is like this. (And that's another thing the game doesn't tell you.)

Question: I know it'll only show you where the other chips are after you turn in the Hedge chip. Will you still be able to go to the other labs and get those chips even if you don't turn in the Hedge chip and have the other ones marked on your map?
I believe so. I got the pond chip first, despite it not having a marker on the map. Burg.l says you can get them in any order, if I’m remembering correctly

The second ending, the good ending, is technically a secret ending. That's right. You want the good ending, you gotta earn it.
There are lots of things in this game that the game doesn't tell you, that feels awesome when you learn it by yourself. However, some of the things on this list, like O.R.C bugs being weak to sour, and a few other details? I'd say they cross the line.
Personally, I've been playing video games since Sonic Spinball and Donkey Kong Country 3. I'm used to obscure mechanics and hidden secrets. This is one of those games that forces you to explore and experiment a lot. Even with the help of Google, you'll be hard pressed to discover EVERY hidden mechanic, EVERY hidden item or secret.
I think the best advice I can give you, and it's kind of lame, but it took my friends all the way til the end of the game to know this.
You don't just put a trail marker at the location of the side quests. The quest puts a trail marker for you that you have to find and build, and some of them like the sand castle are very difficult to find and require you to build structures to reach them.
My best defence against mosquitoes is running. I have hyper Stanmore and that running mutation at the same time, so it's easy to escape.
with the wasp queen update iv noticed that some quartzite that i had collected have respawned so not sure if it was intentional
Constantly swap between mutations depending on what you are doing.
Upgrade to have more mutations.
Carry stuff to repair your armor on the go if you are gonna be away long.
Carry bombs around.
It does tell you the damage types on the arrows on the top right in the crafting menu you can see the damage type but people might miss this
It also straight up tells you in the description, and the arrows are the name of the damage.
In regards to arrows there is two different factors for weapon damage.... Damage type (busting, chopping, etc.) And weapon augmentation (generic, sour, salty, etc.) Both get factored into weaknesses/resistances. For example, sour arrows will do sour and stabbing damage. Some creatures have HIGHER resistance or weakness to a certain type (50% instead of 25%).
Weapon augmentation is simply an added damage bonus of a candy type. This is why stats are 5% lower when augmenting a weapon compared to the mighty upgrade
Whether it's a glitch, or related to multiplayer/shared worlds, some marble/quartzite do respawn. I've had the red anthill and some of the ones in the haze ravines respawn, even had some supreme ones in the sandbox respawn.
I have no superchips collected, but mosquitos near the hedge pond shoreline.
You can also rename baskets from the icon selection screen
to be fair in regards to the upper yard right area, its kinda... extra, like... a lot of the tier two stuff needs berry leather, right? well... instead of going to the hedge for a trip to stock up from your base probably near the tree or pond, literally just up the wall behind the stone thing in the koi pond, tiny hedges looking like some sort of short yggdrasil just have berries up there, and the most dangerous enemy is roughly one or two black horn beetles and some ladybird larva. that is all the danger up there, if you go towards the frankenstein head looking castle moldorc, you run into a can, a donut, a few ants, a black ox beetle, more larva, and the horrid tiger mosquitos. but the near barren dirt beneath the hedges is ALL clear at the front area, and the black ox and larva are far in the back by the second and third hedge trees, so long as you stay in the wooden log separator, you are golden.
If you’re talking about the tree I think you’re talking about - on top of the wall behind the pagoda - if you plug the haze, an infected wolf spider will spawn and start patrolling that area.
@@LittleBird-bs4ue interesting, I had heard the infected wolf spider was around the area of the oak tree and the rose garden, not the berry shrubs on top.
I've beat the game but still missing the 100% due to missing milk molars but I've gone this entire time never knowing you can transport materials with a Zipline. This would of saved so much time lmao 🤣
You should block cancel after the third hit of for example the mint mallet to increase dps i think that count for all two handed weapons.
Are the spicy and sour arrows also 1 time use like the mint arrows?
mosquitoz still show up even when i had no super chips, ill be by the hedge at night just to be attacked by 3 mosquitos.
or by the pond nearest to the tree. so they must have changed it at some point?
Do candies respawn? like Mints? The mint containers have been empty for like 50 in-game days since I collected it the first time.
The mints near spawn do not respawn. Some others do.

if you have a grass floor, does dirt come up through the bottom over time? i can't tell if this mound is getting bigger or not? if yes, how do i prevent this?

the first one i knew because the buff apparently appeared under my SCA.B and i was interested on what it was. it never happened again
"You can name storage baskets and chests" lol or not.... I am not sure if its a shared world or windows store cloud save issue but I am thinking there is something wrong with the naming rights. Was only able to name the first few things on the first play through. Played with a friend who swapped to a new avatar we hadnt used before then he was able to rename stuff again. I would think as host I should have been able to rename everything all the time. Havent played with my friend since to know if he still can rename but annoying that I cant modify anything
Another fact: crossbows reload faster with each subsequent shot. Waiting for stamina to recover break the chain, but with stamina+ mutations/bonuses to keep it going you basicaly get a machine gun B-)
I’m just amazed this guy built his mini base in spitting distance of 2 wolf spiders
the marble and quartz one for me at least isn't true cause I've mined those at a nearby location to my base and they respawn after a few ingame days or am I losing it lol

Awl something with the quartzite and marble is that they respawn when you rebirth
One thing I'm confused about is how the elemental damage bonuses work. Some examples. Is the Salt Mace 100% Salt or 50% Salt 50% generic damage? If I convert a Slash weapon to Spicy, which spiders are weak to both, am i getting a damage bonus from both the slash and the spicy or just now only spicy (I do wish the tooltips on weapons showed both icons after the conversion if both).
Im fairly certain the elementals are additive damage types rather than replacing the weapon type.
Does the Fire Ant Armour remove resistances from the black widow? Just wondering if it will work to make the Black Widow easier?
I think with tier 2 spider armor it does but I'm not sure about tier 3

1:53 "That means: to get the expected damage from all 3 attacks, you're going to have to land all 3 of them"... That tip lowered the difficulty of my game from WOAH! to easy. How do I switch it back?
Tbh I think since they don't want to have respawing upgrade materials it's should a be a games setting do that way casual player can still have the option and the hard-core players can still have the way it is now
All for the accessibility. I like to change up and try new weapons and gear, and starting a brand new save just for upgrades is pedantic

About the different endings, the game does suggest that finding where the orc bugs come from will make the javamatic mission easier.
It doesn't mention another ending, but does suggest there is more to do.
From my test, finding the orc bug origin DOES NOT make the javamatic mission easier
It "makes it easier" because it gives you another tool to use in it, the O.R.C Disruption Bomb

1 time I was playing the game and I like died 10 times just by like probably almost a hundred mosquitoes surrounding my space I built with a bunch of leaves
I died 3 times doing the bad ending. Then went back to my main base (by the lake) and on the way back i entered castle moldorg out of curiosity. Went for the good ending not knowing
