Yeah, most of the other bourbon hunting videos are just people scanning shelves trying not to draw attention. Kind of creepy. I like that TJ engages with the employees and makes it fun.
It has nothing to do with this video, but I met with the guys from Thirteenth Colony yesterday and we talked about you a bit! Seems like they had a great time! Excited about that barrel pick!
I currently live in Georgia but was born and raised in Shreveport. I can confirm that daiquiris thru the drive through window is definitely a huge thing! I’m sure the better bourbon selection would be in the Broadmoor, Elleebe Woods, Stoner Hill and South Highlands areas
A few good stops Louisiana would be Nunu's down in Youngsville, maybe Rouses, or Marcello in Lafayette. Nunu's is always getting new stuff in and they have helpful employees.
The first minute was the most classic Louisiana thing based on my travel experiences. Closed early on Sunday night, and drive thru / to-go daiquiri shops! Love these videos, though. They're fun and it's great when you get some insight/stories from shop owners and employees.
Personally, I enjoy your videos because you are entertaining, personable and simply a nice person. I tend to like what you seems to like, bottled in bond, local products, and non-MGP. The only things I would like to see more are the products on the shelves. It is very interesting to see what is available in other parts of the country and how they obtain their products. For instance, Buffalo Trace was on the bottom shelf of the Cuban place. In any store around me, that would mean standing in line before the store opens lol.
As a whiskey enthusiast myself I love this channel. This is the first video I can say I saw something for you to try. I have a bottle of the broken barrel California oak. Mine has CA cabernet staves instead of port but the bottle is almost dry after one weekend if that says anything.
If you see those old label High West Rendezvous Ryes from 2017 or earlier (the first 2 digits of the batch are the year) they are definitely worth a pickup. Those blends include 16+ year old Barton rye and are phenomenal.
We went to New Orleans in June. Found Sazerac Rye everywhere for $24-$29, and a bottle of Eagle Rare for the not-too-terribly-inflated price of $50 (I bought it to have in the hotel room). Granted, we were mostly in high-tourism areas, but every other allocated bourbon I found was exorbitantly priced. Blanton’s for $300, Stagg for $700, Weller Full Proof for $1700, etc.😮
The Last Batch LA1 whiskey came out of a closed distillery, Donner-Peltier, by my house. The actually started out making rum with sugar grown in the sugar cane fields in Louisiana, the distillery had sugar cane fields across the street. They were also making vodka and gin using rice grown in Louisiana. They were very tied in with the community as well supporting local festivals and teaming up with restaurants
Spirits of French Lick is doing fantastic stuff - definitely have to be into the minutiae of distillate. Their motto is 'respect the grain' for a reason and they use a #2 char to that end. Definitely a worth a drive up to Indiana (you could do them and Starlight in the same trip)
Great episode, keep them coming. Love all the content. I enjoy the shorts and the lives. I just catch what I can because you put out more content than I can keep up with.
I just recently visited Louisiana and I can confirm that you can get a daiquiri on every corner. I can’t wait to go back. Great content as usual @Brewzle!
As a newcomer to scotch whiskey the bottle you missed in the first store was the Glendronach 12 had that one for around a month or more and I loved it I’d recommend you try it for a new comer to scotch so missed out there but hopefully you can get a bottle to try it out but if you like that I’d recommend the 15 as well witch I have at home right now but love the vids can’t wait to see more bourbon hunting videos
Moved to Shreveport/Bossier City about 4 years ago for work. It's slim pickings in these parts for Bourbon and Scotch whisky as far as the basic usual fare. Drive an hour east on I20 to Longview, Tx and its a whole other world. Way more interesting bottles and brands available
1:28 Stranahan's yellow and black label (top shelf on right). American single malt (barley). I like Scotch and ASM is more interesting to me than bourbon. Yellow Stranahan's is their mainstream offering; it's smooth as silk. Black label is finished in ex-Irish whiskey casks and has some smoky/peaty notes. They also make a Sherry cask finished whiskey (red label) which is fantastic. Stranahan's is one of the few distilleries where, if I see something from them I haven't tried, I'm buying b/c I know it'll be good.
I picked Brothers Bond Cask Strength and Fox and Oden #1 and #2 in a 6 way blind over Stagg Jr, Maker’s Mark 46 Cask Strength, Weller Antique 107 and Filibuster. Blinds are awesome. Since doing the blind, I picked up both of those #1 and #2 bottles. 🥃
Glennfiddich 14 is a great option if your looking for a scotch! Love the channel, slowly getting a higher bottle selection. These vids are great helping me with what to look for.
Decent hall. I had an epic week hunting. Picked up JD twice barreled heritage rye for $75, 3 bottles of Weller 12 year for $42 each and an EH Talor barrel proof batch 12 for $80. It was a good week.
I’m from Louisville, that video was awesome! Especially Top Hat in St. Matthews, but a few good spots in Southern Indiana. Starlight is about 20mins from Louisville. Maybe try outside of Louisville ie Bardstown, Lexington etc.
I live in the Shreveport area and just recently got into whiskey and Cuban and Tony are pretty solid stores with solid selections. The thrifty you went to, think it was on Youree is ok. The one out by the fancy grocery store has an amazing selection. There was also a liquor store in a gas station next to the convenient store near where you were that has a top notch selection. Hidden gem.
If you jump into Irish whiskey, get a Redbreast Cask Strength. The regular Redbreast 12 is fantastic, but it’s only 80 proof. The Cask Strength is pricey, but worth it.
That mezcal selection was the best I have seen in any video. Neta, 5 Sentidos, siembra metl, El jolgorio, lolacura,Mal Bien, yuu baal, Vago & Rey campero... I wish TJ would just spend a few seconds in the tequila aisle every now and then.
I live in Lafayette Louisiana and the main issue with anything allocated is that the only places I find the stiff regularly is at the grocery store chain Rouse's and they put every single allocated bottle in bourbon gift boxes for $75 bucks which isn't bad when they get a eh taylor or a blantons but they will have regular bittle of weller reserve for $75 with a bunch of tequila shots or crappy wine
This would take some prep work but it might be cool. You could pick like 10-20 staple bottles and compare availability and price between stores/states to see which is the best for bourbon hunting. It could be a March Madness style bracket
Louisiana is unique because every gas station and grocery store sells liquor. I live in South Louisiana and the best place to get any type of alcohol is Rouse's grocery store which is a huge chain store. At some of the bigger stores they have a full time attendant who will help you and if they don't have something you are looking for they will order it for you.
I just moved to Shreveport 6 months ago u are spot on about Tony's I go there for the cheap stuff they way over price the good stuff but it does move witch is sad someone is paying that
I know I’m late to this video, but I’m in the Lafayette area and I’ve gotta say the second store that said everything sits on that I-10 line is just not right. I only found eagle rare after searching for it intentionally for a year in this area. Don’t even think of trying to find Weller, Stagg, Taylor, or any other highly sought after allocated bottles. I can’t even find ECBP
Cuban is going to be the best place to shop if you ever make it back through.. EVERYTHING is at retail and Grant and Andrew do a great job at keeping the monthly allocated drops fair and of course all bottles are sold at retail.. Store picks are always amazing as well!! Don’t waste your time going to any other store in Shreveport!! Cuban Liquor is where it at!!
So I got the Middle West that you picked up it Cuban Liquor. The smell might be the best I have ever bought. The pallet, kinda meh...Your mileage may vary as some of their other stuff is amazing
Personally, I’d have picked up that Sazerac Rye store pick at Cuban. I really enjoy the standard Baby Saz and it’d be interesting to taste how their pick differs from it.
Love the content. I just went to Massachusetts last week and bought a blood oath pact 9 for $175 and love it. They had an antique 107 and wanted $800 I almost had a stroke 🤣
That Widow Jane was probably The Vaults 14 year. I am a big fan of the 10 year so was excited to find the Vault 2022 for MSRP. The store was wanting MSRP for it so that was not a bad find. I have not cracked it but I am excited to finally get to it.
Kinda off topic to the video (I love the hunting videos btw, loved it when you came by my hometown Springfield Mo.) but I’m curious to see your take on some more crazy rare expensive bottles of whiskey. I picked up a bottle of Blue Laselle XR Crown a few years back and after recently looking at prices compared to back then this bottle has blown way up in price from when I bought it and I’m curious to see your take as well on that field of rare and expensive stuff.
Hey Brewzle i’m from louisiana and if you ever get the chance to come to New Orleans to hunt you HAVE to, the selection and variety different types of stores makes it such a good place for whiskey hunting
That Barrel SeaGrass is so god damn good. The one I tried was 120 proof but didn’t drink that high. It dank like a 105-110 proof whiskey but with all the flavor
Aww man. Big miss in Louisiana. You really needed to be along the i-10 corridor. The big miss however was that the liquor laws in Louisiana allow our every day grocery stores to sell beer and liquor. The biggest allocations go to the grocery stores and some times are sitting right there on the shelves for you. Rouse's, Breaux Mart, Canseco's, etc. all come to mind when around the New Orleans area. You need to give Louisiana another chance, and i would suggest somewhere close to New Orleans... Mr. Goldring is from New Orleans... hint hint.
Not bourbon, but you walked past a Bushmills 21 and a yamazaki 12, id highly recommend giving those a try. The bushmills 21 is a single malt and is absolutely fantastic, can be pricey, in canada its around $180. That Yamazaki is a Japanese single malt and its brilliant, but completely different than everything else, it can also be expensive
I'm an American living abroad and very interested in the pricing back in the states. It's great how you show the Irish and Scotch whisky quickly, but in the future could you kind of "scan/pan" then pause the camera for a half second in different spots so I can hit pause and check out all those prices? The slow scan lets me see what's available (which is cool) but not the cost. Enjoy your channel, and these adventures. Creative content.
Bowman small batch? Have you tried the John J Bowman single barrel? I have a bunch of bowman brothers and port finish sitting around because of sales where I could get them all for 30 but the John J Bowman single barrel is probably my favorite just slightly.
Brewy---if you are down Austin way swing through Bastrop and check into the Copper Shot distillery..You may find something there that will interest you..
Whiskey Raiders is a wonderful idea but for $120 a month at the cheapest plan is a bit absurd. Really liked the idea but hate that I have to pass on that. I can get 2-3 bottles a month rated just as high for that price but I understand they helped you make your video so you're helping them promote. Love your content though and keep it up!
Try Horse Soldier bourbon small batch! It’s an amazing bourbon with an even better story that’s not well know. Love your stuff brother, especially your short reviews.
If you are coming to Texas, please stop at Five Points Distilling, which will be on your way to Austin. Traditional pot still, Texas Wheat whiskey. Absolutely delicious. Truly, if I could, I drink that exclusively - no more hunting! Lone Elm barrel strength all the way.
That KC12 is in every bourbon hunt video, but despite it coming around recently, I've never seen it in Ohio. I buy multiple bottles of Antique 107 every month tho. Weird how distribution works.
Get a discount on your one, three, or six-month subscription to Whiskey Raider’s Bottle of the Month Club here: bit.ly/3PhpWat
What is the cheapest option? That’s not the bottle of the month?
They do an online tasting of their monthly pick. It's separate from the bottle itself.
@@Brewzle thanks brewzle!
The Middewest in the black tin container is liquid gold.
Damn, you missed that Prideful Goat 15 year.
Can we get a bar tour video just going through all the alcohol you currently own?
Yes please!
I second this
Honestly, i love the videos as they are, youre the only bottle hunting videos i watch because its more personal, not just focused on the bottle.
Same
Yeah, most of the other bourbon hunting videos are just people scanning shelves trying not to draw attention. Kind of creepy. I like that TJ engages with the employees and makes it fun.
@@tylerwilliams4165that true southern form in spades with this man. Honestly I do the same shit lol. I'll talk to anyone anywhere.
It has nothing to do with this video, but I met with the guys from Thirteenth Colony yesterday and we talked about you a bit! Seems like they had a great time! Excited about that barrel pick!
Easily the best bourbon channel on the platform. I love that you're not the typical style of youtuber, much more personable!👍
Cuban is my favorite store around Shreveport/Bossier. I appreciate how fair they are with allocated drops.
I love their funny and sarcastic phrases on their sign every week! 😂😂
I currently live in Georgia but was born and raised in Shreveport. I can confirm that daiquiris thru the drive through window is definitely a huge thing! I’m sure the better bourbon selection would be in the Broadmoor, Elleebe Woods, Stoner Hill and South Highlands areas
Drive-thru daiquiris must be a Louisiana thing b/c they're popular here in Lafayette as well.
That bourban you picked up and said aged 2 years with color, is actually my cousin's place in Baton Rouge, you should have bought it
A few good stops Louisiana would be Nunu's down in Youngsville, maybe Rouses, or Marcello in Lafayette. Nunu's is always getting new stuff in and they have helpful employees.

Great video, as always. These bourbon hunting videos are always a lot of fun. Good for Tony’s for selling Buffalo Trace for MSRP.
I see a Brewzle hunt pop up and it's an immediate click! Love these vids.

That LA1 whiskey ain't very good, good pass
eating at a local restaurant is always an entertaining add on to the videos

Cuban is my go to in town. If you ever travel to Dallas, the Total Wine and More on N Central Expressway is a wonderland.
If you jump into Irish whiskey, get a Redbreast Cask Strength. The regular Redbreast 12 is fantastic, but it’s only 80 proof. The Cask Strength is pricey, but worth it.
Wyoming Whiskey is a super solid bottle for the price. A store employee in NH recommended it and I was not disappointed.
Saz store pick for 25 isn't something I would have passed up. But I imagine they're a lot easier to find in Louisiana.
2:57 Still Austin Cask Strength is amazing. Right up there with New Riff Single Barrel but a bit smoother.
High N Wicked, "The Judge". Found one, cracked it open....loved it. 14 year bourbon, then finished in Hungarian Tokaji casks. Give it a go!!
Holy crap! You're in my town. Cuban is really the best place in town. Best selection and the owners dont screw people with secondary market prices.

Depending on when y’all hit Austin. A great local store called Austin shaker just had 2 great picks from Buffalo trace drop. Stagg (jr) & blantons
Like the guy mentioned in the video, the I-10 corridor is your best bet for hunting!

You asked okay ..... (1st store) The Redbreast 12 & the Benriach 10 are solid picks in the Scotch/Irish section.

Don’t waste your time going to any other store in Shreveport!! Cuban Liquor is where it at!!
Louisianian here!! We love our drive through daiquiris!
Grab a GoPro that shoots in anything over 60fps. GoPros are small and when you’re panning through bottles, it can be slowed down!
That old scout store pick from Tony's is pretty good. Have a bottle on the shelf right now.
So I got the Middle West that you picked up it Cuban Liquor. The smell might be the best I have ever bought. The pallet, kinda meh...Your mileage may vary as some of their other stuff is amazing

The liquor stores definitely. But whiskey festivals and distillery tours would be great
Both in the works.
I highly recommend the Bywater from New Orleans. Something about it is great
I haven't had the French Lick Wheated, but their 4 grain Lee W. Sinclair 14:56 is pretty good.
Would love to see you pick up some Penelope and do a taste test!
I happen to wind up in Shreveport often and it's depressing if you're trying to find a fine whiskey.
All the content is great! The Talladega video was my favorite one you’ve put out!
All videos are great the hunting is just unparalleled and you buy up and down the budget of everyone don’t change a thing

Zoom in on the bottles that way we can read the labels. Then maybe we can find them locally. Thanks
New bourbon lover here, starting slow with 90-100 proof, best 5 suggestions? I’m in south Louisiana btw
I am not concerned about the bottles you missed, I enjoy your commentary on the bourbons in general and interactions with the people in the store.
I'm an American living abroad and very interested in the pricing back in the states. Love that Green Spot Irish.
Just was there at Cuban last month and found a 27year obtanium Canadian whiskey at around 153 proof!
I see the Slane special edition Irish whiskey at one of the stores within is $40.... I paid $15 in FL.
Love the hunting videos but we need more Jill. Great as always TJ.
Agreed! While TJ is a hottie, Jill is a full on smokeshow!
I’ve heard good things about the broken barrel line up. Unfortunately where I’m from I haven’t seen them anywhere
when ur done with ur box break it down flat and keep it behind the back seat.. youll always have it when u need it..
Bowman small batch? Have you tried the John J Bowman single barrel? I have a bunch of bowman brothers and port finish sitting around because of sales where I could get them all for 30 but the John J Bowman single barrel is probably my favorite just slightly.
That 291 . It's in the last shelf pick .
Definitely missed out on the Nassiff Family Reserve. One of my top 2 and pretty hard to find
The Macallan Classic Cut is really good!! Always have one on hand🥃
Any insight of a rum finished whiskey is it worth the price?
If you and or anyone sees a bottle of Lost Irish, Irish Whiskey. You will not be disappointed, should run anywhere from high $30s to lower end $40s
Brewy---if you are down Austin way swing through Bastrop and check into the Copper Shot distillery..You may find something there that will interest you..
I would have grabbed one of those Sazerac picks. One of my favorite ryes.
@Brewzle if you see Still Austin Red Corn Bottled in Bond buy it! It’s awesome!!
What did you pay for the Old Elk cigar Cut? Here in the Miami area it is around $170.00.
Wish I could find another Bakers 7! Thanks for the video.
I'd like to watch a video of you explaining the differences between the whiskeys (single barrel/bottle-in-bond/wheat vs sazarac)
Love to see more your thoughts on Still Austin. Haven’t heard until I saw in one of your bourbon hunting videos.
I live in Shreveport, and i get all my Bourbon from friends who live in Tennessee.
Any chance you can just scan down a rum aisle once and a while? That’s where my heart is, but your getting me into the bourbon!
As far as Irish I'd recommend Jameson's black barrel it's my favourite Irish I've had so far
I couldn’t love these videos anymore fr💪🏼🙏🏼
That KC12 is in every bourbon hunt video, but despite it coming around recently, I've never seen it in Ohio. I buy multiple bottles of Antique 107 every month tho. Weird how distribution works.
It certainly is weird, in Louisiana I’ve never seen a 107. I’ve been in Texas a few times and have seen them but for $250 on up. Hard pass for me.
Walmart sells KC12 in Louisiana
