Worth a note. In Atlanta you have Five Points, which is downtown and sketchy and not a place to be after dark, and you have Little Five Points which is kinda hipster and quirky and can be a fun hangout place. Mixing up the two can lead to some ... interesting moments.
I really like that you hunt out small distilleries. These are whiskies that everyday people can actually come across, and your reviews are helping me decide which ones to pick up.
When budget permits, you should come to South Africa. There isn’t a lot of SA whisky but there are a few like Bain’s Cape Mountain or Limpopo Reserve. Plus beyond whisky it’ll make a fantastic holiday for your family. Bains is from the Cape Town area and Limpopo Reserve is from close to Kruger National Park, which is where everyone goes when they come to SA
Yeah if im out looking its basically never for buffalo trace products. I just find most of their stuff very lacking in comparison to most of the stuff on the shelf, and benchmark fullproof smokes most of the harder to get bt stuff anyway
Thank you for supporting small operations!! This is the kind of enthusiasm I hope for the Arizona wine and liquor industry we have here. You have my comment and like.
I AM cracking up every time you say you are over budget and still have more places to go. I do the same thing all the time. You have great content and i love the exposure to the small guys getting it done. Keep it coming my man!
New southern revival is good stuff made in Charleston SC. The distillery literally brought back a type of corn called Jimmy red corn (grown in the low country) back from almost extinction and began distilling the grain once they had enough yield. Jimmy red corn used to be used to make whiskey in the past and is now back. Very good and unique pour
It's som much better when a trend begins and it leads to social networking everywhere you go! It is so easy to start and carry on a conversation in the BOURBON aisles or with staff at local stores and stores you visit when you travel. Lot of great AMERICANS still around!
I enjoy your hunting videos. The length is spot on. I learn a lot, so thank you for that. I did get a laugh out of the guy looking for the hard to find stuff like "Buffalo Trace" however what I appreciate about you as well as the true whiskey community, you helped him out without criticism and steered him towards something that he may enjoy better. Keep it up TJ. All videos are enjoyed and appreciated.
Next time you are in town give My Friend's Bottle Shop a try. They are a little closer to the stadiums/downtown and dont charge above MSRP however allocated is handled through the rewards system. They do some store picks that you might be in to that are easy to get your hands on. The staff is top tier, very friendly and helpful.
Would love to see Leiper’s Fork bottled in bond make a feature on the channel. Farm to bottle, cool stuff going on over there. Haven’t tried it myself but planning a trip to the distillery soon.
@@Ticonderous1 That may be but you have to remember $100 AUD is equivalent to about $66 USD, we're talking the equivalent of spending about $151 AUD on one bottle at the $100 USD mark. The prices over there are also likely higher due to transportation and import tariffs.
Love your channel! I honestly was not that into bourbon until I started watching your channel. Funny enough I live in KY and my sister had her wedding at Buffalo Trace. Thanks for the good content. I had some crazy shit happen to me in Atlanta also like 2 years ago, I witnessed a robbery lol pretty crazy.
Revival is making some good juice out of South Carolina. Yeah I agree with you about Tower its hard to get a rapport with someone. They have a great selection.
New South revival is here in my city of Charleston, SC. Yes the distill their own product. If I may recommend one, their Jimmy red Corn! It’s a young bourbon, however it’s an organic nearly extinct corn that was brought back by local farms here and it’s what they use in their product! Peanut brittle and honey. They are pricey, but unique and delicious.
Just got back from The Kentucky Bourbon Trial. Did Woodford Reserve, Castle and Key, Buffalo Trace, Whiskey Thief, Angels Envy and Evan Williams. On the way out of town, spur of the moment, we stopped off at Bluegrass Distillery on Lexington on the way to the airport to kill some time. Really small operation, super cool employees, super cool story and really good bourbon. Our favorite stop for the whole weekend by far!
You gotta try Myer Farm Distillers from western NY. Hard to beat their John Myer New York Straight Bourbon Whiskey - Single Barrel. Notes of black pepper and cherry blossom on the nose; lemon verbena and fresh-rolled barley on a plush velvet mouth-feel; red raspberry and a rich butter caramel finish. What more do you want?
around your 14:50 mark, you ask about "New South Revival". That is a grain to glass/farm to flask 100% Jimmy Red Corn Whiskey out of Charleston, SC. We just picked a barrel 2 weeks ago, and they celebrate their 10th year this weekend. They are releasing their first BiB this fall, and they make incredible 100% corn and 100% Rye. If you trust Julian Van Winkle, he liked it so much that he sent for a sample of the distillate to run through their machines in Kentucky. He couldn't believe the flavors they could impart with a single grain. If you like cool whiskey, I hope you don't pass it by next time. Consider getting some of the later batches as they began blending some older whiskey in the that same label you saw. Enjoyed the video!
You were close to Elemental, which is a cool shop that doles out their allocations fairly (announced in advance, first-come first-serve) and does a good job of having interesting stuff for a small shop. Also close to Greene’s is Pitch & Putt. It’s a *tiny* shop that punches above their weight. They get Wellers, Eagle Rare and a ton of hard-to-get stuff. They’re actually reasonable for daily-driver bourbon but can get pricy on the truly hard-to-find issues. Cheers!
Milam sources, if you in central TX, you need to do the run from San Antonio to Hye, reverse, you have Garrison but then going down 281 S you hit Andalusia, then further south, you have Milam but across the street is Real Ale and they do a few whiskeys, then further south, you might want to bypass Rebecca Creek, but in San Antonio you have Ranger Creek, they do a few stellar whiskeys, they do bourbons in large and small cask, a rye, and a mesquite smoked single malt, plus some distillery only releases
Next time you're out in GA stop by Minks Package on the north end of the city, nicer area of town and really great selection, including barrel picks (I'm not enough of a bourbon guy to remember any specifics, but their scotch selection is top notch)
I knew it was gonna be good video when you run into a fellow bourbon hunter. Watching your channel is like watching a professor in the sense it’s just enjoyable/entertaining to watch because they are passionately knowledgeable on the subject.
I think that New Southern Revival from High Wire Distilling in Charleston SC was their rye, but if you ever see their Jimmy Red straight bourbon, definitely worth picking up. Excellent bourbon and their use of Jimmy Red corn is a great story.
Love what you do man, Im from Fairfield,IL store over here has everything even pappy & wellers full proof, but marked way way up, but if you ever get around Effingham,IL good stuff around there if you look some, good pours in the bar/restaurants, stay safe & have a great day.
Love what you are doing. I’m new to the bourbon world. You have definitely inspired me and I’m learning as much as can from you. If you ever want to come Chipley fl just north of Panama City let me know. Keep up the hard work.
Green's only does random bourbon drops during the week anymore. They used to do raffles but its almost impossible to get anything these days from them unless you are lucky. Elementals prices are high but they are a very small shop. One of my favorites here.
I know this is way out of the way for you, but if you ever get an opportunity, try Driftless Glen. They’re a small distillery in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Other good choices from J Henry & Sons Bourbon and Limousin Rye.
R.M. Rose was born in Atlanta in 1867. It went out during prohibition, but was reborn about 7 years ago in Dillard Ga. They have some good 4 grain, wheaten and high rye bourbons. Also, a bottle in bond.
In my neck of the woods (hey Atlanta has more of those than most big cities)! My buddy owns Elemental. It's an awesome little bottle shop. Green's and Tower are my go-to's. Tower does great random drops and occasionally has some good stuff on the shelves. Green's is more hit or miss usually. You can park in that lot in front of 5 Points for free to go to the liquor store. Otherwise it's a pay lot for all of the folks that come from the suburbs to see L5P (all us natives park on side streets). You were about 4 miles from ASW distillery, so you could've stopped by and checked out more of their selection. Next time! Also, Atlanta is not the big scary place you've made it out to be (you're not alone though). Lived here my whole life and have walked all over the city with no issues. It's like any other city (small ones included) in that there's crazy people mixed in and neighborhoods that are safer than others, but for the most part everybody is as nice and welcoming as you are to them. Also, try Fox Brothers BBQ next time!
Nice to see you hunting in my area. Good call about going around at night. I live in the 'burbs of the ATL and I avoid the city as much as posdible. That's some craziness at the hotel!!
If you’re ever in Texas, I suggest MKT Red Lantern Bourbon. Small distillery out of Katy, TX. Rich, sweet, but still very complex. And a part of every sale goes to charity, great distillery and very very good bourbon at an affordable price. Paid around $45 in Houston TX at Total Wine.
East Rome beverage in Rome ga is good spot to check for allocation they have all in corner some in boxes for decent price lots left in box for u to go thru.
Revival…You missed a small distillery opportunity. We visited High Wire Distillery in Charleston, SC last week. They use Jimmy Red Corn instead of Yellow Dent. interesting story. The Jimmy Red Classic’s mash bill is 100% Jimmy Red corn.
Watershed has a great cask strength. Sprayberry Bottle Shop in Marietta had one a while back that was great. Next time you're in town you need to go there and talk with Brij. (He has 15-20 barrel picks at all times)
Enjoyed the video. I've been to Elemental a couple times, neat shop. I understand why you picked up and put down the MGP Tumbling Dice, but I think that's a great bottle. I have or had 5 of their store pick Tumbling Dice bottles. Its a good one. Keep it up brother.

Glad to see you found something from Watershed! I honestly didn't know that they were shipping out of Ohio. My favorite, also one that wins blind sampling with friends, is the 4 year BiB. If you're ever in or around Arnhem, in the Netherlands, i'm usually pretty happy with the stores there. Since it's europe, it'd be best if you hunt scotch & irish too - it's just so much cheaper here.
Haha you ALWAYS have to pay to park at Little Five Points Liquor. That's a very heavy traffic trendy area. And it's called Five Points because 5 different streets converge at one spot. I'm loving these videos, so cool to see you in Atlanta! I love Green's!
Watershed was pretty underwhelming to me but I'm always happy to give the smaller distilleries a try. If you like wheaters I'd highly recommend Grand Traverse Distillery Michigan Wheat. I had it on the distillery tour and really enjoyed it. They are doing some great things.
There's a lot of good smaller package stores in Atlanta, but its hard to beat Total Wines prices so i just load the App on my phone to compare but probably doesn't work for the higher end stuff.
Shout out to that woman for knowing her stuff. True connoisseur behind the counter.
Brewzle…you are a national treasure!

Man, any bottle over $100 gets hard to justify. I rather have 2-3 bottles when spending $100-150.

Watershed was pretty underwhelming to me but I'm always happy to give the smaller distilleries a try. If you like wheaters I'd highly recommend Grand Traverse Distillery Michigan Wheat. I had it on the distillery tour and really enjoyed it. They are doing some great things.
Watershed is incredible, you should definitely do a pick!
There's a lot of good smaller package stores in Atlanta, but its hard to beat Total Wines prices so i just load the App on my phone to compare but probably doesn't work for the higher end stuff.
Is it an Atlanta thing to back out of a parking space and then immediately pull back into it? Happens with 2 separate cars between 15:24 and 16:00
