This video is absolutely the best I've seen. Everyone else that is talking non stop and explaining everything they are doing on a video has a good chance of not knowing what they are doing at all. A professional mechanic can show you better than they can tell you. This man's video is 16:42 minutes long and done. While other's burn up that amount of time flapping their soup coolers. If you're a true and good mechanic your videos will be like this one cause you don't have time to do a 30 minute job in a hour. You got to get to next job cause you're actually in demand. So thank for taking the time to make this video it just saved me big time cause i was about to order new sprockets not knowing about a filter or much less cleaning it. Thanks for the help. And to those TH-camrs with all that extra time to do all that talking, this man said it best by not saying nothing at all.

Also good because you can just READ these (very good) titles, instead of trying to understand heavily accented narration. No offense, but I can barely understand some of them, and sometimes language barrier prevents precise explanation.

Now THAT"S how it should look under the valve cover! I've seen other videos on this topic, and I half expected The Creature From The Black Lagoon to come out!

I had doubted that my filter was dirty, since I am diligent about oil changes, but you mentioned "carbon", and my VVTi gear started rattling after my car started using oil, so I can no longer rule out the Crud Factor. I also noticed that the VVT doesn't rattle when the oil level is RIGHT up to the mark, or on warm starts.

I needed to know the proper procedure to do it right , however in my mind was always the idea of immersing the filter in SEAFOAM few minutes and then use a tooth brush …😊

Thank you for making this video. It is well done.
I have a 2010 Toyota Camry LE with this engine. 166K miles. It has the "vvti rattle" when you start it, but it's not bad. I've had it two years and the prior (first) owner maintained it well. Would performing this procedure address this rattle? (I'm asking because other TH-cam videos recommend replacing the intake cam gear.) Thank you.

If the sound is too loud, the intake vvti may need to be replaced and clean the vvti control valve filter

If the carbon inside the engine is high and the engine is not serviced on time, this filter gets clogged and after it gets clogged, the VVti does not work properly and the engine consumes more petrol
