    I love my striker 4. The flasher mode even works as good as my vexilar for ice fishing.

    I love my striker dv I like the structure view. I have a dedicated battery for mine as well in a small plastic box too just like yours. I use to use alligator clips but they always came loose and were annoying. I soldered my power wire to the battery to solve this issue and it made it more enjoyable.

      I like to be able to switch batteries for longer trip, but the push on spade connectors would be a more rigid connection that is still convenient.

    Fish show up as an arch due to the conical wavelength the transducer sends out and receives. And unless it's a 10 foot long fish I'd never personally mistake a mark like that for fish. It would have to be something else.

    • @sevenfishyoutube
      @sevenfishyoutube  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anything that stays in the cone for a long time will do it.

    I caught this one and I just caught your ice fishing with the Stryker 4. I just ordered me a Stryker 4 yesterday to use on the ice and on my Kayak. Thanks for helping me make the decision. What kind of kayak do you have there???

    • @sevenfishyoutube

      Thanks for tuning in! I run a Perception Rambler 9.5. It’s a sit on top kayak. Not very expensive, but works well for staying high and being able to look down!

    What color scheme are you set at? I was looking for a brown bottom & blue water scheme on my Garmin Striker 4 but cant find it

    • @sevenfishyoutube

      This is the standard blue color scheme. The video make it look brown but it is actually a maroon or dark red?

    I have a fish finder just the same !! but I have a problem with depth !! it does not give me the correct depth it tells me that I am at 30 feet and in reality they are little more than 6 !! can you help me???

    • @sevenfishyoutube
      @sevenfishyoutube  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This can be caused by a few things, is it consistently over or does it jump around? If it is always way over it may be that the transducer is pointing back instead of down. If they get bumped they are made to kick up to prevent breakage.

    • @arrivacuto1
      @arrivacuto1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Seven Fish ok thanks!!! For it to work better, I have to turn the simulation mode on or off???

    • @sevenfishyoutube
      @sevenfishyoutube  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@arrivacuto1 Well, if you are on simulation mode of course it will not show the depth that you have currently, The unit shouldn't go into simulation mode if you have the transducer plugged in.

    Great idea on the battery box! Was the battery expensive?

    • @sevenfishyoutube

      No, the price varies by amp hours. The 9ah one is $27 and the 8ah is $20.

    Does the transducer need to be mounted in the water or can It be a in hull installation

    • @sevenfishyoutube
      @sevenfishyoutube  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some hull materials will transmit the signal well and can be through hull mounts, but not all will.

      @@sevenfishyoutube ok thanks it's a plastic kayak I was wondering because I looked it up and the internet was saying how the chirp sonar causes the transducer to get warm and it needed to be cooled but idk

    • @sevenfishyoutube

      I have not seen a problem with Garmin transducers but that might be a question for Garmin directly.

    How do you charge your battery? Will it charge with a regular car charger

    • @sevenfishyoutube
      @sevenfishyoutube  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are chargers specifically for these batteries. A car charger will charge at too many amps for these SLA or 'sealed lead acid' batteries. It can do damage to the battery or worse. Vexilar makes a good one, or universal power group (UPG), or you can go to an interstate store or battery patrol to get one for an SLA battery. Thanks for watching!

    • @jamesblackledge4009
      @jamesblackledge4009 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Set your car charger to deep cycle and charge at 2 amps. No higher than 2 amps.

    Thanks for informative video my friend ! May I ask what kind of battery you are using and for how many hours you can run your Garmin by that ? Thanks

    • @sevenfishyoutube
      @sevenfishyoutube  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Appreciate you stopping by! The battery I use is a 12V 9AH, lead-acid battery. This battery will last me all day on the water. I generally charge it at the end of the day, but have used it for two outings before! The unit runs less than 1 amp per hour, so take that into consideration. (Mine is 9AH). You could also use a 12V 8AH or 7AH but of course you would have less run-time.

    • @jbehzad
      @jbehzad 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sevenfishyoutube Thanks for the fast turn around ! Yes it makes sense based on calculation you should be able to run it for 42 hours with one charge in average condition like 0.21 Amp hour current drawing for Garmin striker 4 . I go for the battery like yours which is much chipper !

    • @sevenfishyoutube
      @sevenfishyoutube  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Essentially, though you wouldn't want it submerged for a long time or very deep. It is fine out in the rain or if you dumped it with the cords connected.
