    what started as a Garmin Striker4 tutorial turned into a bass fishing video - not disappointed.

    Nice video, just picked up a striker 4 for my tarpon 120. Mounting it this weekend.
    Just a word of advice, holding bass at an angle like that usually breaks their jaw. I know you were keeping most of the ones you caught in this lake but viewers seeing this might get improper handling techniques for their own fishing. If these fish are held at an angle by their mouth and released, there’s a very high mortality rate due to injury, especially for bigger fish. Just putting that out there 👍

    Action Jackson. Nice mount. I think the readings from the surface are just normal particles that tend to accumulate there. I think there is a sensitivity setting to clear that up if desired

    Painting the pvc black is also a good idea because it will protect from UV light which makes it get very brittle.

    I'm not an expert on these, but I wonder if the transducer is not low enough in the water causing it to deflect off the side of the kayak creating that yellow in the first foot. Maybe test out lowering it next time to see if it goes away.

    How hard is it to reach the Garmin from the seat of your Yukon Angler? I’m going to install a Striker plus 4 in my Yukon Angler kayak this winter. I like the location you used but I’m not very agile so I’m not sure I could reach it easily. Great video!

      Its just PVC with a 90 degree elbow on it to connect them. He used a tent stake in the middle to keep it from swaying with movement.

    Can you reach your fish finder pretty easily? I have the same yak and planning on getting a fish finder. Debating whether I should mount it on the rails or up front, where you mounted it.

    Ha, when I found this Garmin Striker mounting I didn't even know you had a Yukon at first. Then it started looking familiar. I love the placement. Looking at the same on my Yukon. How do you like the placement of the finder after having used it for a bit now?

    • @AaronsOutdoor1
      @AaronsOutdoor1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I definitely like it where it is. I think it’s better than having it on one of the sides because it doesn’t get in the way of paddling where I have it.

      Thanks! I just have my transducer pointing straight down

    • @smcgee2010
      @smcgee2010 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AaronsOutdoor1 I see the transducer is on the side of your kayak, correct? So it's pointing down at an angle? Are you able to see what's in front of you on your fish finder? Is that telling you to cast in front of your area? The reason I ask is because I'm stuck between mounting the transducer on the transom or my trolling motor. Any idea would be appreciated. 👍

    • @AaronsOutdoor1
      @AaronsOutdoor1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@smcgee2010 no, the transducer is not inside the hull of the kayak. It’s on the bottom of that PVC transducer arm that I made. The box with the battery is the only thing inside the kayak.

    • @smcgee2010
      @smcgee2010 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AaronsOutdoor1 So, the transducer is facing down into the water at an angle. This in turn allows you to fish in front of you while reeling back to your kayak. I really appreciate your assistance and responses, I'm trying to figure out where to place my transducer on my vessel. I have a small 12ft Alumacraft, if I install it in the back I imagine I'd be fishing behind me since everything showing up to the left of the fish finder screen has already passed me.

    • @AaronsOutdoor1
      @AaronsOutdoor1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@smcgee2010 my transducer is not at an angle, it is facing directly downward. I use it more to just get a sense of how deep it is, but it also lets me know if there’s a school of fish under me that I can drop my bait on. Typically I’m casting up against the bank when I’m fishing. For an alumacraft, most people put the transducers on the back of the boat (either to the left or right of the motor) and have it facing straight downwards. I hope this info is helpful.
