I bought it two years ago to add to my JetSki, but never could figure out how to install it without drilling holes in the ski. This sounds like it's exactly what I need and I can't wait to get it going.
I appreciate the information. I'm piecing together my first boat (14ft jon boat) and I plan on dragging it to the white river in Arkansas. A simple depth finder with some bells and whistles to learn is perfect. Main concern on the river is depth. I grew up without all the fancy screens to fish so I'm a bit bias against them. Maybe this is a happy medium.
I bought a aluminum jon boat last week with a 9.9 motor. I already have 3, but I've only ever paddled around in them. Im getting old now and it isn't any fun anymore lol. The new law here is you have to register your boat to use even a trolling motor, none of my boats have titles so I cant register them. I ended up buying one of these fish finders today, its the first time putting/using one on a boat. I just got it as a starter and because im learning how to wire boats...so if I burn it up its better then an expensive one. Later I want one with side imagining for the front, I'll just keep this in the back (I also have a front mount trolling motor I want to mount later). I like that you can just mount this to the trolling motor, saves me from having to put holes in the boat for the time being. Also means I can just take it out and mount on my smaller boat for private ponds if I want. Edit: long as you have a signal you can look at Google maps to see where you are in the lake (rough estimate anyway). I'm looking into if I can pull up contor maps on my phone, that would be pretty useful as well.
@@YBGAnglers I kind of figured that might be the case since it's moving, but I think I'll upgrade soon as I get my boat wiring and other stuff done. I want the one with side imagining seems like that would be useful for finding structure.
Would like to see it in action on the lake….. i never ever ever used or seen a fish finder used in my life….. how does it work. Is there something u put in the water for it to pick up the fish?
Make sure you understand the difference between the Garmins that plot your position on a chart and the Garmins that ONLY show depth and fish and “waypoints “ on a blank yellow screen. I got fooled and bought the the wrong one first and finally bought another . (So, I have this one available for $20 ……it’s not even worth that.)
**hears a few bad things about this fish finder** Me: damn, seems like a few bad things, but hopefully we will get to the pros soon! Video: "and now here are some of the cons...followed by 1 pro which is that its budget friendly" Me: oh, now we're only getting into the cons? 🤣
Thank you for purchasing the Garmin Striker 4 here: bassproshops.vzck.net/P0LPRM
It allows us to keep making bass fishing content like this!

I've never mounted one to a jet ski before, let me know how it goes!
This is a great choice for bayliners or “ski” boats that don’t have a ton of space on the dash and don’t come equipped with a depth finder even.
I didn’t even think about that, but that’s very true! Thanks for the help!

This one should do the trick!

Yup, the trolling motor isn’t the ideal place for it but it works!

@@thetightwadhomesteader3089 very much so!
Nice Video! Def going to purchase one for my kayak.
Thanks! It’s a good asset to have especially without spending a fortune!
My Garmin shows the ball weights as a steady stream of fish. How do I get it to ignore the weight and just show the fish?
Hmmm, you might be able to turn down the sonar sensitivity in the settings but I haven't had that problem before!

Yes, there is a transducer that goes into the water👍🏼
I'll keep that in mind when making new videos!

Excellent point 👍🏼
thanks man appreciate the honest eval
Absolutely!
Can you add a gps map card?
No, this model doesn't accept one…
@@YBGAnglers darn
how well does it do in water when fishing for lake trout?
I've never used it for lake trout, so I honestly have no idea 💡
Can you use this fish finder from the shore? (Beach)
No, it’s not one that I would use for bank fishing
Your transducer is mounted wrong
How so?
No it isnt

That's the thing with cheap fish finders…
I kust need to know how deep i am ffs!!
