  • In this one, we fabricate some material baskets for the Gantry that we previously fabricated for one of our returning customers. We use both short arc MIG welding, as well as stick welding to complete this project. This project also required both shop fabrication, as well as some welding in the field to fit them to the gantry. Hope you guys enjoy! Thank you for watching!

    I hate having to one hand a grinder when prepping smaller pieces. I make AR500 targets. I use a magswitch 400 magnet that turns on and off. I turn it on and slide my angle iron up against it so i can use both hands on the grinder. Its strong enough that small pieces dont move when cleaning and it's easy to flip around to get all the sides.

      I’ve actually wanted to get a mag switch for that very purpose. Do you mind me asking what you paid for yours?

      I bought it almost 3 years ago and it was maybe 130-150 ? I bought several including their pivot angle 200. and a 165. They aren't cheap but they still work fantastic and are very strong. They have even more powerful ones but the 400 is my largest. Bought mine off Amazon and i believe they have even more models now. @@Freedomfabrication777

    I’ve only recently found your channel and have only watched a couple videos. I did not realize that you were only doing this as a side business. So, that brings me to my obvious question; how are you able to afford such a fabulous shop, not to mention, all the quality equipment you have in it? Sorry to be so nosy and blunt, BUT…..? Still, I wish you nothing but success and I admire your drive to succeed.

      Thank you, I appreciate that. For 14 years I worked a 2nd Job, working for a local fabrication and welding business here in town. This was what allowed me to afford the shop itself, and the first few pieces of equipment. I saved pretty much every penny from my second job, and used it to pay for the shop and purchase the equipment I needed to start taking on my own work, and start my own business. Today My business expenses are completely funded by money that I make in the business. I don’t mix my personal income with the business. It’s just easier that way. For the last 16 years, I have worked Mon-Sat from about 4:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.(taking breaks for dance recitals and ball games). That’s how I have been able to do it. I have bought almost all of my equipment second hand as well, which can save you a lot of money. If you want something, you have to go at it with both barrels. It all comes down to how bad you want it. If you want it bad enough, you’ll find a way. I don’t settle for things. Once I make my mind up that I want something, I don’t settle for anything but that. The final ingredient for success is that I couldn’t have done any of this without support from an amazing wife. Hope that answers your questions. Thank you for watching!

      Thank you for the reply. I know what you mean about having a fantastic wife. I’ve had one of each 🤦🏻‍♂️. Luckily, the bad one only lasted for 8-1/2 years. The good one will be for 30 years this August.

    I built a metal rack with expanded metal and finished the ends with 1/2” pipe. I split the seam with .090” cut off wheel and it opens up automatically to accept the expanded metal. No burrs, no sharp edges and it stiffens the ends.

    It's easier just to buy a metric tape measure than convert 😎

    • @Freedomfabrication777
      @Freedomfabrication777  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it’s on the list. I got pretty good at converting from metric to standard because when I was machining parts at the previous place I worked, everything was metric so I had to convert. I am gonna buy a metric tape measure though. Always a good idea to have one. Thanks for the suggestion, and thanks for watching!

    Thanks for the video! How did you decide you wanted the efi trailblazer? I am kinda in your boat where I’m not fabricating full time but for the last four years I have been as busy as I want to be and have been relatively successful. I have been using a Honda 7000 generator with a miller mutimatic 200 suitcase welder when I do need to fabricate on site. I have been interested in getting a trailblazer but can’t decide if it’s worth the money to get the diesel and the wireless interface. I’m a buy once cry once kind of guy and I have been stuck. Any words of advice?

    • @Freedomfabrication777
      @Freedomfabrication777  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, this is a deep subject.(no pun intended) I can’t really tell you much about the diesel trailblazers cause I’ve never ran one. I’m sure they’re good, but I couldn’t really say what the big benefits would be over gas. I love the gas ones though. I have hundreds of hours on the gas trailblazers, both carbureted and EFI. One reason I do like the EFI is because they start up right on point in cold weather, which can be an issue here in Utah. I do think of you have issues with a carbureted one, it will be cheaper to fix, but that’s one of those give and take kind of things. IMO if you live in a cold state, and you’ll be welding in the winter, I would get the EFI for a difference of $700. I do feel the reliability is worth that. I have ran a diesel SA-300 a lot and it’s a great machine, smooth arc, but our gas powered machines were always awesome, and cheaper to fill up/run. The versatility of the miller is a game changer for doing field fabrication IMO. I hope this helps you in your decision. I’m excited for you. Anytime you get a new piece of equipment, it’s like Christmas!🎅 you’ll have to let me know what you end up going with. And as always, thanks for watching!

      Thanks that is very helpful! I do live here in salt lake so i wasn’t even considering the carb option. EFI it is! I just didn’t want to regret spending the extra dough on the diesel if the gas EFI would keep me happy in the long run. Now I just need to decide if the wireless controller is worth getting. Thanks again for the help! Look forward to the video you do on building the trailer or skid for your trailblazer!
