What a great video. Not only the top shelf craftsmanship, but the production as well. Loved the Lonesome Dove, Grizzly and the whole hole expedition.... mag drill to the rescue. Also enjoy your problem solving, seem to always be thinking outside the box and not tunnel visioned. Thanks for another great one!
Thank you, I really appreciate that. I try to be an outside the box thinker. The truth is, I think you're forced to think outside the box when you make mistakes. No wonder I'm getting so good at it! Lol. Thanks for the feedback, and thanks for watching!
I don't comment a lot but watch every video. 100x better than the factory would ever do............ You take pride in everything you do and it shows. I hope your customer realizes what a professional he had complete the project for him. Well done as always!
Looks good on the trailer, we will have to let you know how it goes when we get ready for LS fest. We appreciate the help so much😊 thank you again brother
Just started watching your videos and already hooked. Agree on the proper equipment make sthe job easier. You worked through it and shows your hard work and dedication to doing it right even if it means doing it twice
Thank you. I'm happy to hear you're enjoying the channel. Glad you're along for the ride. It gets frustrating when you make mistakes, and then you have to improvise, but I guess that is what makes you Improve. Thanks for watching!
Very well built, meticulous, and professional. Having the right tools and equipment definitely make jobs a lot easier. With field work I’m constantly battling that. A lot of making due with what’s on site is too repetitive. Numerous times I’ve had to use flat bar, porta powers, and bridge clamps in order to make bends and breaks. I e even had to score the back side of the material with a wafer wheel 1/3-1/2 thickness to get the material to bend. Then go back and weld and grind the cut smooth. I thoroughly enjoy your content
As a man who has OCD and has garnered the name “Mr. overdo it“ I can so relate with how you put that brace in and built the stand. Excellent work as always. I never miss a video. Keep up the great work. Can’t wait to see the press break that you’re going to buy, lol
That winch WILL pull it's full pull with that unbelievable cross member mounted tied to that rectangular frame assembly . Definitely a good thing to caution the owner that it can destroy objects if needed ... Or not . lol Great work pop and son . lol
Thank you, it would be nice if it was right the first time, but I guess the important thing is that it’s right when it’s done. Lol. Thanks for watching!
@@Freedomfabrication777Yes that is true, but I know for myself there is never a one shot project where I didn't make mistakes. Beautiful job, but shouldn't that fairlead also have side rollers ? I foresee the cable getting stuck on the end of the rollers at some point. Who's trailer is it ?
That fairlead only pulls cars straight in. No Angles. Customer just got done racing in Vegas so I’m interested to hear how it worked for him. Thanks for watching!
I love your work ethics, and skills. Undeniable integrity. But you would do well to consult on some of the engineering. That 4500lb winch was plenty for the task. The rolling resistance of a 4500lb vehicle is nill. Heck, my tow-rig weighs almost 10klbs, and I can push it by hand (on flat ground). While the pull requirements going up-hill are quite expenential. It would take a pretty steep incline for a 4500lb rolling load, even factoring rolling resistance from low tire pressure, to overcome a 4500lb winch. That winch you installed would probably lift that trailer straight vertical off the ground. Hey, I get it! My wife calls me "Overkill Bill", LOL. I probably would have built a very similar mounting system (probably from 5/16"). But, used the supplied winch. After all, it is usually the weldment Or parent metal of said weldment that would fail in a situation like that when the "china factor" is calculated. Please don't take this comment wrong. Fantastic job! Loved the vid! And, you obviously know what you are doing. I would not hesitate to stand dead square under one of your cranes. This is not meant as an insult in any way.
I noticed you were using a carbon fiber pancake hood. Have you seen the video The Weld Professor put out about the danger of using a hood made of carbon fiber. And how it can arc causing sparks and possible fire.
Nothing too strong ever broke! to me, winch mounts and trailer hitches are the same. I’ve never had a winch come off or a trailer hitch come loose or be too small just as an example my cousin has got a car trailer with a 6000 lbs warn winch, I never thought it was large enough for the trailer, but I have seen him tow, full-size Pontiac car with four flat tires up the ramps and onto the trailer with the winch, just groaning and me telling him that he needs to put a snatch block in and he says it’s fine. It’s been on there for 25 years.🤷♂️

Agreed. If you’re gonna be a bear, be a Grizzly!
I was wondering if you found it necessary to unhook the batteries on that trailer before welding. Nice work as always!!!
There is a battery disconnect inside the trailer that I turned off while I was welding. Thanks for watching!

Haven’t heard from the Safety police yet. I’m sure it’s coming.
Stronger than anything else on the trailer.
I would say so. Especially the way they build trailers nowadays.
plasma your fold with slots up the seam and leave 1/2 inch between 6 inch long slots brake the folds and weld up the slots.
I did that on a removable winch plate I built. worked great.
Might as well put that weld-on plate up for sale and make some money for your effort..Excellent content.

So not to point out the obvious here, but why weren’t you able to drill holes on site? You already have mag drill which is perfect
That welding shirt/jacket whats the brand . Cheers all the ones i found just dont make 5xl.
It’s “western welder” brand, and so far, I love it. Thanks for watching!
You could have made a 3/4 inch releaf cut on your fold line then welded it up afterwards
Bon Boulo😆😆👍👍
