Halfords black bumper paint will get the dial surround looking spot on. Costs about £5, I did it with some grey door pockets to change them to black and they came up really well
Hi Keith, your spare wires will be for a radio - green/white should be a switched +12v (pos I on ignition switch), purple will be continuous +12v and Red/Green will be for illumination (comes on with side lights). I use cap-head bolts for the steering column as shear bolts are a pain to get off.
Replaced my heater matrix a few years ago. I didn't like the semi plastic matrix so used an FX4 taxi all metal one...... but the inlet and outlets are in a slightly different position, so had to mod the case a bit.
Brake wise Keith, I'd leave the standard set-up as it was used on the injection 1275 Coopers, so should be fine on the Racing Green even with the John Cooper modified engine.
Hi Keith, standard brakes will be fine. 30 + years ago I ran a modified 1275 with circa 90bhp (Dyno tuned). I ran it on 10" wheels and std 7.5" cooper S discs & calipers without a servo. I drove it round the Shropshire lanes extremely hard as well as Telford dual-carriageways. I was in my late teen to early 20's so you can imagine how I drove it. I never ran out of brakes. Minis are light vehicles remember. Save your money, recondition your existing calipers. Suggest you watch M539's last TH-cam video on his M3 E92 when he reconditions his calipers with Brunox epoxy, then 2K aerosol paint.
Hi there Keith. Good to see you cracking on through the thousands of jobs.... Yes the bulkhead soundproofing is still available at Somerford. Part No: ETD10154 although its for a Cabriolet so there is a gap each end to the doors. I used double layers of stick on panels to fill the gap. Its genuine NOS from Rover. £70.80 though.
If i'ts a bit chilly in my garage and I want to paint a small part like you've got there , I just heat the part up with a heatgun. Dries up almost instantly. The calipers I'd leave plain black , red or any other color is a bit 'boy racer'.
Yet another episode that was available 16 hours early. The advance screening is great, thanks. In all seriousness I dont envy you with sorting out the wiring side of things.
Next time I upload I'm going to try a different setting. I think it see's you as a channel member so you get videos before they go public. Only problem is, I don't have channel members setup LOL
I'm not complaining at being able to get them early, it actually nice as I'm often too busy to watch them at 6.30. The curious thing is the views stay at 0 and I can't leave any comments. It does allow me to click the like button though. Hats off to you uploading every week. I know it can't be easy to spare that much time and still carry out the work on the project.
I hope the headlights on the Racing Green have the lowbeams working like mine. When you mentioned the wires you're meaning they had to be tested after being fitted through nooks and crannies what of the headlight bulb plugs and indicator plugs if one of them were not working?
Hi Kieth, I replaced the drums to 7.5” discs & while the brakes work, I have bought a servo, bracket & bits to fit a servo. After driving cars with servo brakes for years, the harder pedal pressure is a bit disconcerting. My daughter is going to drive the car too & she has never driven a car without a servo. The brake balance valve on your car seems to be closer the offside inner wing. Will I have to move mine over?
Hi can you not just spray the plastic cluster surround black with an interior paint, keep up the good work really enjoying following along on the build 😃😃

Good idea, I didn't think of that
Flying through the list of jobs. Painting is getting closer each episode.

Hiya Keith-RG is coming together nicely. Got my ticket for Bingley this week so I'll see you there. Keep well.
See you there buddy :)

Thanks, mate. I'm very tempted to order if it wasn't for the +£17 postage on top. I may see if I can get one at Bingley Hall first
@@classicminiworkshop Or give Somerford a call, mention your channel and see if they will ship for free?
They have had that stock for a long time.
@@classicminiworkshop, they aren't going to Bingley this year due to staffing issues. 😩

Hi Keith good to see wiring in parts starting to appear great video as always
Thanks 👍

Yes I wasnt sure what those 3 wires without terminals were for either ? Thanks for the heads up on the heater wires... wasnt sure either.
No problem 👍
By the way I got my mini working again my low beam headlights are good for a night drive.
Similar welder to mine so thanks for the tips on the settings, but one thing I’m never sure of is what gas flow to set it at? I use the same bottles
About 2 litres per hours

Personally I'd keep the brakes standard as they left the factory. Originality is key but I understand the reasoning in upgrading

Good tip, I hadn't thought of that.
Don't forget to give it a coat of plastic primer first.
How can I get in contact with you? I have an issue with my mini and hoping you may be able to help me figure it out. Many thanks
