I enjoyed it, but it was on the tiring side. Next week's video, I nearly ko'd myself but still went on to finish the challenge the video after. It's definitely a worthy challenge and really enjoyable. Thank you as always for your support.
Sorry for my delayed comment Chris. Life seems to get in the way haha. This was truly a beautiful area, although sad story you share in the start here. It's hard to describe everything and give a good feedback. You were lucky about the weather. Those flowers are pretty to look at, BUT they're poisonus. So if you touch the flower, don't lick your fingers afterwards. Sounds like a crow or a raven indeed Chris hah. Really nice having the natives follow you for a while while hiking :P So nice trail! WOW! and all those small streams and ponds... wow !! Another brilliant one Chris, keep on doing this!!
It was a different hike, that was for sure. I think my average walking speed was increased as I didn't have many vistas. It is sad that such beautiful places have dark hidden pasts. Yes, the Fox Glove is definitely a very deadly plant, but it is everywhere. I kept well away from them. The trail was hard on my feet, though. On the next one, I take a fall and bang my head. I saw stars. I still have a sore head and tinnitus from it. It will heal with time. Thank you as always for your continued support, Martin. I really do appreciate it.
Hey Chris, finally a sunny day! Yay! Oh my, dog poo bags left littering the countryside 😡What a terrible story, shocking. Sorry you took a tumble. Hope you recovered quickly. Beautiful scenery and glad you found the Trigs 👍😀
Yes, the bags do annoy me. I'd rather they didn't pick it up at all in the first place. Thank you as always for your continued support, ladies. Have a great week.
Beautiful woodland Chris...the Foxgloves are looking perfect at this time of year.....the noisy little bird was not a crow but a Wren...ha ha....can't believe you are still falling over.
Yep, still falling over. Fell again today and hit my head on a log. You think I'd learn by now. Thanks for your continued support Stephen. I really do appreciate it.
Hi Chris! Nice that you were able to bag 2 trigs on this hike today and you finally had some beautiful weather. That looked like a lovely trail, and I love hearing all of the birds. Pebbles can be a bit harder to walk on than dirt. The 66 percent well they annoy me too! Ha ha. Glad you are getting back out for all of these hikes again. I hope you are having a great week! ~ Anita
Thank you, Anita. Yes, my feet ache after that. I'm used to hiking on peat paths. It was certainly beautiful out there. Thank you as always for your continued support.
Beautiful walk Chris what a brilliant area too (never walked here and it’s not to far either😢) Great you walked off the fall it happens to us all mate 🙏🏼 Nice couple of trigs bagged too Chris 👌🏻 Thanks for bringing us along mate 👍 Best wishes Simon 🤠👍
If you like a lot of trees and pebble paths, it ticks the boxes, Dan, but sadly, not a great deal of views. But it was good for the last couple of hikes on the challenge as it brings it together with it being the location of the Commonwealth War Cemetery. Thank you for your support throughout the challenge, Dan. I really appreciate it. Have a great week.
Yay, great weather Chris, is this a channel first? Dog Poo Bags, even more offensive than the actual poo. Do love OS mapping, best in the world! We do use the OS app now though, although we tend to plan on paper. Lovely purple flowers! The bird song is lovely to hear! A very musical bridge crossing. Yay trig face 194! Oh no Chris Down! Heart of England Way, what a nice name. The walk starts from Milford Common on Cannock Chase and ends at Bourton on the Water in the Cotswolds (apparently). Yay another trig 199 and trig face. Great trail 👍
Thanks for clearing that up, I never did check. It is a lovely area but no views. If you like forest walks, it's great. There are a lot of mountain bikes around. I did another MAN DOWN today. It will be out next week. I've got 4 miles left of my Challenge to complete tomorrow, but I'm hobbling. The back of my foot is bleeding, I've got blisters, and my toe nail is falling off. All in all, another good hike 😂. Thank you as always for your continued support. I really appreciate it.
@@chrisbentleywalkingandrambling oh no, not another man down Chris. I’ve done a few this year too and come a right cropper! Bit scary given some of the exposed hikes we do! Get those plasters on and stuff some tissues down your socks, we will get to the end of this challenge! 👍
Nice one Chris. "MAN DOWN" looks a nice area to have a wander around. Been to Shugborough Hall. I am part of the 33% brigade. X4 trigs to add to my list. Great video 👌
Absolutely amazing videos sharing dear friend ❤️ Really enjoyed watching Super big big like thumbs up 👍👍👍👍👍👍 See you again take care, keep intouch ❤️ ❤❤❤
Lovely warm day for your walk. Looks beautiful. Those trees were huge. It was so peaceful and relaxing. Thank you for taking us with you. Hope you are having a good week. Best wishes Dave and Dawn ❤️
That was great Chris. I agree it should be an AONB! Hope no bones were broken in the fall 🙈 That area must have charged an awful lot as those Trig points are surrounded by trees and not out in the open 🤷🏻♂️
Hey Chris 😊 such a shame to start your walk finding people had abandoned bags near the car park. Haha yep the weather suddenly seemed to go from cold to hot 🥵 didn’t it. Seemed to not really be an in between this year 😅. I swear by my os maps, the only other ones I use are the Harvey map on long distance trails. Sad story about the three children 😢. A beautiful place to explore though during the day. Loved the trees some super talk ones about Chris. Nice streams and ponds about too. Random trig surrounded by the ferns there. But yes a trig is a trig 😊 think beards do seem to be in at the moment. Glad you didn’t break anything when you fell, got to be so careful when out alone. Liked the look of the second trig. Nice one Chris 😊
Thank you for your continued support, Yasmin. It was nice not to have to drive the 2hrs each way, too. It was a great little hike despite my issue with gravity. Have a great weekend, Yasmin.
Totally new area to me. Looks quite extensive. We're so used to its being a cold summer that when suddenly we have a hot and humid day it's hard to cope with I find. Still, it's good to have sun and no wind even so.
It's only 20 minutes from my front door and I've never explored it. Not a great deal of vistas but a lot of forest and birds. Thank you as always Michael for your continued support. Have a great weekend.
What a fantastic hike, Chris! 🚶♂ The scenery looks absolutely stunning and those purple flowers are a delight! 🌸 Sorry to hear about the tumble, but glad you're okay. The history of Cannock Chase is so fascinating; can't believe it's been inhabited for 3000 years! 🏞 Keep up the great work on the D-Day Challenge! 🌟
I fall over every now and again. As long as I can get up again, I'm fine.😂 Thank you for being part of the 33%. Yes, it is amazing to think how long people have inhabited the area. Thank you, as always, for your continued support. I really do appreciate it.
Beautiful hike! I really love the forest, it's so green and lush. Sorry you took a tumble, it is never fun taking a fall. I have to use a hiking stick, it has saved me from several falls iver the last 6 years. Funny thing, when we were in Yellowstone they had a glaicer boulder and it was huge! I unfortunately didn't get a picture of it, as we drove past it.
Yes, I was amazed at how small it was. I was expecting something at least 40ft square. It was a really anticlimactic. It is the first time I have taken a fall in ages. I use trekking poles all the time. I was multitasking. My map app was open on my phone, and my trekking poles were tucked under my arm. Had I been concentrating, I would have been ok. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it.
How pretty - such a nice location to hike - how pretty is that pinkish flower? and it was nice to see them at different locations on your walk - I didn't hear the name - I'm not very good with names. What a shame that people leave their bags and don't take them home - I always say, you bring it, you take it. It can't be that hard right? The ferns have grown so nicely there - like fans overlapping each other. The bird sounds were so pretty. I can't multitask either - though I feel I could when I was much younger - 25 min drive to your home from here is pretty good - if no traffic lights it must take you approx. 15-20 minutes? What a shame no one made any conversation or eye contact - that's OK - it sometimes is OK for that too. Rubbish is a constant problem - but you did very well Chris - 9.8 miles, take a hot bath to soothe the sore knee. Have an amazing rest of the week. L9
The Fox Glove is a beautiful plant. Digitalis is the other name. Yes, it is only about 20 minutes if the traffic lights are in your favour. Thank you for your continued support, and have a great weekend.
HI Chris, I'm still watching mate, don't worry about that! What a beautiful area, I've heard a lot about Cannock Chase, never been there though. Beard should go mate, I'm not a fan of beards! Haha
I'm in agreement, too. Cannock Chase doesn't appear that big, but the place seems to go on for miles when you are there. Thank you as always for your continued support. I really appreciate it.
I'm not one to put tests in my videos, but hey, sometimes it tells something😁 The other day, I was walking around the neighbourhood here and I couldn't believe how many foxgloves we had growing around. Weird. It just reminded me of you. I'm not sure why😀 Looks like you had a sudden dirt nap in the middle of this😁Good thing you were no worse for the wear! What a great place for a hike! You had great weather🌞
It is my first and last time. But I was intrigued. If I can't watch 100%, I hang fire until later. Hence, you might find I've not commented. Once I've got time, I'll come back to it. As for the Digitalis, I couldn't for the life of me remember the name, I had to ask Amanda. I've not had a dirt nap for a while. There was mud on the back of both hands. I didn't even get a chance to break my fall. One second vertical, the next second, horizontal. I literally went down like a sack of spuds. I really enjoyed this one and back out tomorrow for another hike. There are very few days left for me to complete my challenge. Thank you, as always, Age, for your continued support. I really appreciate it.
@@chrisbentleywalkingandrambling I'll watch videos and sometimes get distracted by something shiny. I may miss a sentence or two, lol. I do know that there are a number of people that comment on my videos, but they really haven't watched it...or any of it. The comments are obvious. One I got a "Great Hike" and I was not hiking in the video at all, lol 😂 It's certainly interesting to see the metrics on videos.
'Like 47', 'great share'. The one that gets me is when you get the comments on a 25 minute video 2 minutes after release. But I suppose any interaction fuels the algorithm.
@@chrisbentleywalkingandramblingThe like 47 is a good one, lol😁 You're right, it's the comments that happen right away and there is no way they saw the whole video. I've commented on some videos and then right away I get a comment back on mine saying how great it is. They never watched it. I've reached the 4,000 hours now so I'm not chasing watch time and that type of interaction will mean they watched an ad at least, which helps. It's still frustrating because I'd like people enjoying what I put out so that my channel can grow bigger. Yes, the algorithm does get fueled though.
Finally got to watch this .. some people just drop things out of their pocket. I think the worst problem with litter is passing it by . I dont always bring a bag with me . You chose w hard day for this one chris
I think I'm going to start bringing a plastic bag to litter pick as I go. Sadly, on the next hike, there is fly tipping. People just dump stuff in nature because they refuse to take it to the tip. They get paid for taking it away but then dump it. Very sad indeed.
Excellent Chris great job. What a beautiful day for it too. I remember hearing that awful story, poor kids. I use OS and Alltrails apps, very handy. Lot better than having to get physical maps out. 33% here! I also watch all the video but I know most don't. Ah great, I'll have that madness song in my head all day now. Keep the beard but maybe give it a little shape if you can. If not, get a barber to do it. Bit disappointed the trip wasn't recorded 😂 purple flowers I think are foxgloves btw. Glad the phone held out! Amazing how much we rely on them isn't it. Trigbeardface! Almost 10 miles, sterling effort sir. Were you not tempted to walk back and forth for .17 miles? Shame nobody felt like chatting. The South can be a bit like that!
I just hit 'end hike' or whatever it says on the OS App. I had to extend my latest hike (which will be out in 2 weeks) to make sure I went over the finish line. I got in with .17 over, I think. Thanks for being one of the 33% Matt. I thought about you on the way around and how you did the question to see the engagement. I've lost 4 subs doing this challenge. I'm not sure if it's natural wastage or if some people don't support the Armed Forces. Oh well. I've only got 2 physical maps. Peak District north and south. I've figured out the issue with the charging, too. Faulty wire. Replaced it, and it all holds a charge fine now. I don't understand why people say they support you, then don't watch. All the channels I am subbed to get 100 watch from me. Perhaps we are a dying breed who knows. Irregardless, thank you, as always, for your continued support, Matt. I really do appreciate it. Have a great week.
@chrisbentleywalkingandrambling people pretend to support others so they get views themselves. Luckily it's not too hard to work out who they are, with their vague, generic comments. I think youtube deletes subscribers like those, that's probably why you lost a few. It was a good idea to do the 1% thing in my video, not because I found out about people who didn't watch, but because a few people who don't usually comment actually came out and left one, which was nice. Anyway, you should be sleeping Chris. I'm six hours behind you and I'll be off to bed soon 😆
@no_soy_rubio arthritis playing me up from the Pebble paths and the miles. 0408hrs here. I need a few days off to recoup. You are right. I'd rather have followers who watch than false one. Big Like 45, First!!! And such. Night Matt, looking forward to your next video update with random girls 👧
The watch time stuff is a weird fish . Most views last year were 1:38 , then this year it was 2 something .. i have tried to change my films to short defined cuts no longer than a few seconds each .. those first few minutes make s difference
I've given up now. I'm still going hiking and still recording, but I'm no longer going to watch the stats. I've lost 4 subs doing the D-Day Challenge. I wonder if it was people voting with their feet or just a glitch in the matrix. Either way, the channel will continue as memories for a time when I can no longer hike. I'm 6 months away from 63, and I hope to hike for many more years, but you never know what the future holds. A video once a week or once a fortnight for me going forward. I've got 2 weeks in the can from this challenge yet to come, so we will see how my mindset is in a couple of weeks' time. The algorithm is a funny master.
Its sad that story of the abduction . I thought this stuff was going away but some days it seems like its as bad as ever some days . Youre not scruffy .. i call those flowers fox glove
Ummm!🤔 Poo bags! Don't get me started mate, I hate them and automatically dislike people who leave them, especially the ones who hang them on trees. I don't use OS maps to much now days mate, except when I am in bad weather and need Map and Compass to navigate. I find Komoot the best application for me. However, I still carry an OS map. I'm one of those people who can look at a map for hours.
Maps are a wonderful source of information. I carry the two of the Peak District when I'm there but always have my OS App on and powerbank too. But in bad weather the phone fails hence my back up. Thank you for your continued support. I really appreciate it.
🪨🥳🪨🥳 i'm a fan of the purple flowers you filmed, i never remember their name. no! don't push, you have to have a bit of snack so you don't bonk! as for the beard, it's your face, what you want is what you should do. some people are out there to not talk to anyone, so i get it. i'm the eye contact, hello, nattering type myself. glad you had such a lovely day, albeit a hot one. i'm a fan of the circular hikes. what's your total so far for the challenge? cheers to club 33%, you and amanda! 🛴❤
I've found out they are Fox Glove (Digitalis). I'm a bit sore after the tumble, but I'm out this weekend, too. I'm 20 miles short, so as long as I can hike Saturday and Sunday, it will be fine. I was ill for a week during June, so if it runs over by one day, I'm not going to kick myself. Thank you for being in the 33% club Anne, I really appreciate it. Have a great weekend.

Yes, the algorithm does get fueled though.
so many beautiful plants in this vast and wild place, hmm
Thank you so much. I really appreciate the 33. Have a great weekend.

Just put a black sack until my bag
Map reading like that mate, you should have been an officer...
😉
Nice one Mac 😂
Its sad that story of the abduction . I thought this stuff was going away but some days it seems like its as bad as ever some days .
Youre not scruffy .. i call those flowers fox glove
Thank you for being a 33% Owen and for your continued support. I really appreciate it. Yes, sadly, a lot of places have a horrific history to them.
@@chrisbentleywalkingandrambling foxgloves, yes! i was googling a bit to try and find them. thank you!
