    My maiden name is Dudley, and I have English roots. My dad told me that 7 ancestors left England and settled in New Jersey ( where I was born and raised) I'd love to go to England one day to see the Dudley castle.

      ‌ Very true. I was driving past the (Haunted) Station Hotel to the lights and saw what a shame it was that the old picture house was in a state too. Again, thanks for doing your videos, they are very professionally presented by your good self and well edited and as far as I'm concerned (Man with the attention span of a sparrow), always get me watching until the end. So, good engagement. Ever considered doing one for St John's Church in Halesowen? It's got nearly 1000 years of history behind it along with the lovely "White Friars" Tudor house opposite. Well done!

      @@thetudortours4914 It would have been black over Pedro's madre's if you had filmed here! Seriously , loved it, and The Worcester Cathedral one. How about Tewkesbury? Not quite Tudor, but in the run up. History is like a spider's web; to understand this event you have to go back to that event and so on. You can't just cut off chunks! Otherwise you get the Yanks confused! Hahaha. Bless em! They all have Anne Boleyn as a something X granny, after all! Glad yo and me ay puddled! Lol

    This video is so interesting. Many thanks for posting. I am descended from John Sutton (1400-1487) 1st Lord Dudley by his wife Elizabeth Berkeley. I visited the castle several years ago. It’s hard to imagine that I am related to the people that once lived there.😊

    • @jayargonauts7428
      @jayargonauts7428 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cowboyfunkk I didn’t know about the connection until I started researching my family tree. I used all the traditional records such as census returns, parish registers and probate records. This took me to John Barbour of Flashbrook Hall, Staffordshire who died in the 1500s. His wife was Margaret Wolseley, daughter of John Wolseley and Elizabeth Stanley. Her parents were George Stanley (a younger son of Sir Thomas Stanley of Elford, Staffs.) and Eleanor Sutton/Dudley and it was this lady who was the daughter of Lord Dudley. I used various sources such as Burke’s Landed Gentry/Peerage and the Herald’s Visitations for the county of Staffordshire. Sorry I seem to have rambled on😊

    Been up the spiral stairs through the passages in the walls.
    It was slighted after Cromwell attacked it with cannons from kates hill. There's a road called Cromwell cross where they fired the cannons.
    Like many of these buildings, they're loss was eventually caused by fire and neglect. Though The civil war didn't help either.

    Wasn't there another Dudley who served Henry VII in some manner? Who when Henry VIII came to the throne had that Dudley thrown into the Tower for the crimes against the people. Because they so hated him for his cruelty towards them in Henry VII's name.
