I've been trying to watch your videos on Foot Drop and i was wondering what's your thoughts on using a Tib Bar to strengthen the shin muscles? Thanks for your videos!
That could work! You could also attach a dumbbell to the top of your shoe or put a resistance band around the top of your shoe and have someone pull it away from you. Lots of ways to increase the difficulty of this exercise!
@@DoctorGretchenHawley Great! Thanks for getting back to me! I just bought a Tib Bar and im using 2.5 Lbs and Elastics and I'm 3 days in. Hopefully i will feel and see a change. Thanks again for the time you put into your videos to help us!
Possibly! It depends what is causing the paralysis. If you haven't already, speak with an in person physical therapist who can evaluate your weakness and determine best functional exercises (based on neuroplasticity) for you.
Very nice ..I'm suffering of foot drop as I was doing muscle stretching.. initially it was just tibial pain what radiate to foot but after afew days numbness and tingling started with foot drop..I'm on Neuro physician n rheumatology tt with some exercises and physiotherapy with EMs..Its much improved my dorsiflexion. is it 100% recoverable or not?
That varies from person to person honestly. Some people have great improvement w/ no reoccurrences when continuing stretching and exercise. Others it depends on their fatigue level vs. well rested, whether or not they're battling an infection, heat/cold intolerance, etc.

Idk if i have foot drop but my neurologist called me unlucky my lumbar puncture did came back positive for MS! The postive on this is: its RRMS found in its first attack there have not been any attacks before i also seem not to be having much damage from it But my neurologist wants me on ms medication asap and she told me i will be seeing her allot! She sended her letter straitgh to my rehab specialist and my gp i am a true neuro bom 😵💫
I'm a big fan of using these techniques even if you have not seen any indications of foot drop yet. Typically, the ankles are one of the first areas to be affected, so anything you can do to aid in strengthening your neural pathways is a positive☺️
@@DoctorGretchenHawley thanks i will the cane free method bc i do not use a cane i do use custom orthotics there inbetween a afo and a smo they have an open ankle as an smo but ears as high as an afo so probably will not notice if i get ankle problems i been using these since 2018 far for my ms diagnose bc of my cp and my ankle joints are kinda hyper mobile but im stil all for strengthing anything you can
@@samkitty5894 no for ms it was vumerity first. Now they want me on ocrevus if it turns out to be active RRMS or PPMS instead but i am also on Topamax never had gabapentin. Recently my Psychiatrist did also put me on celexa & Seroquel low dosises
One of the clearest explanations of what to do and why. Thank you.

So helpful
What about muscle paralysis? Will this still help strengthen for better dorsiflexion?
