    • @rubbun
      @rubbun ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Ishment I haven't played it a whole lot yet, but my experience so far has been pretty positive.
      I've had no issues with build quality.
      Action was fine for me out of the box. It's a bit high but nothing I can't deal with, plus I do like my action somewhat high.
      Intonation is okay as far as I can tell as well.
      It definitely has its issues though.
      The pickups are super "loud". If you play too hard, they'll clip with a strong popping sound. They'll also catch any movement, so playing clean is a bit difficult if you're not careful.
      Rolling off the volume to 5 or so helps, and using a noise gate is almost necessary if you don't want unwanted noise.
      It also goes out of tune pretty quickly. I can't tell if that's the bridge, tuners, or strings to blame. Again, I haven't played it a whole lot since I got busy with other things.
      In general, it's a good guitar for the money.

    Thanks for a great vid!! Just last night I learned of yet another new fangled and rather inexpensive solution that just hit the marketplace: the Cordoba Stage. I have two other Cordobas, a parlor and euk mini nylons, that are decent. This Stage holds more promise. I've not put fingers on it, yet. I was remiss as I sold a Seagull branded nylon that was Godin under the hood, and an approach towards the Gibson Chet Akins Les Paul style nylon, and liked it plugged in: but it had zero projection volume unplugged, which at the time turned me away from it. Anyways, the regret of selling it has lead me on a replacement quest, and to your vid, and maybe one day towards this Cordoba Stage. Anyways, Happy Pickin'!

    Thanks for this, Paul. I was not aware of this Bullfighter guitar. I own an Angel Lopez solid body nylon string guitar, which I like a lot, although it is as heavy as many solid body electrics, and the Piezo sound is not ideal. Are you familiar with the Yamaha SLG (silent guitar) series? I own an SLG200S, steel string model, with Yamaha's SRT pickup system. It has a Piezo AND a microphone "emulator", which sounds very authentic, and you can "blend" between Piezo and mic. (plus built in tuner, chorus, and reverb) I really want the Yamaha SLG nylon. They look kinda cool, because they're a "skeletal" guitar body. My Angel Lopez, (made by Stagg, BTW) serves me well for now. It cost about $350, so MUCH less than the Godin.
    I've decided I'm tired of gigging at high volume, and a nylon string guitar is my way of scaling back, and simplifying. Thanks again.

      I saw a video on the comparison between the two and the main thing I noticed mentioned was that the stage has a blend knob that you can play with between the neck pickup and the mics near the bridge which you can’t do on tod10n. I own the tod10n and love it but I really do want a cordoba stage. I played one once about a year n a half ago and it just felt so smooth.

    • @PaulJBaccash
      @PaulJBaccash  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hasnt happened to me yet. That did happen to my Ovation Al DiMeola signature model and that is an $1800 guitar so that isn't really a barometer of the quality of the guitar.

    • @MisterJWJ71
      @MisterJWJ71 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@PaulJBaccash yeah you can have issues with guitars from any company but, there are some that are more prone to issues than others for various reasons. When I saw the reviews showing the bridge having popped off I did consider that perhaps they got guitars that just didn't have enough glue on the bridge. I also know you have to take reviews with a grain of salt as some people review things based on what they wanted them to be rather than what they are. Or they unfairly compare a budget priced item to one that is much more expensive. That's why I will often research a product for a long time before making a purchase. All of the videos I have found about this guitar are positive. Though they all say the tone control doesn't do much. I suspect that is because the controls are wired like a standard electric guitar where piezo pickups need a preamp for a tone control to be useful. Thanks for the info!

    • @PaulJBaccash
      @PaulJBaccash  ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Okay so I bought the bullfighter and the only personal issue I'm having is that I can't get any distortion coming from it through my amp. I've been trying to figure out why and I can't find a clear answer.
    Is it a limitation of the Bullfighter piezo pickup? The onboard preamp?
    If anyone can tell me why this is, I'd be very grateful.

    • @PaulJBaccash
      @PaulJBaccash  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never tried distorting a Puedo pickup. The whole concept of a Puedo is to simulate an acoustic guitar which is rarely distorted but I guess anything is possible. If distortion is what you were after I would have bought a traditional electric like a telecaster or strat. Maybe someone reading this will have had some experience with what you're looking for but I am not sure. Thanks for watching!

    Great playing and comparison of these guitars. The Bullfighter does seem to be a solid guitar for the price and the tone is definitely decent for that low cost. Once you get to the above mid-tier to highest pricepoint Yamahas they're generally great guitars (as they should be). Godin is definitely the best all around, but for almost $2000 it better be amazing shit lol. Definitely going to consider a Bullfighter to dabble in solid body nylons so I can tweak everything on my rig without worrying about feedback. I recently got a Washburn C5CE and it's actually a really great budget friendly guitar as well.
