The U specials refunding 25% is ONLY if you use it without canceling into it (and of course has to hit). This means that even in combos, its optimal meter usage to try to find/use routes that don't involve canceling into these moves but using them as a link. For example, Narmaya could do Tk j.214C~U(switch) into land 5C > 236U like it teaches you in the combo trials, but you can also just do land 236U (tighter timing) to save 25% meter.
@@danielwitt1793 Link is comboing without canceling. So you have to wait until a previous move's recovery is completely over, before using another move. If that 'another' move combos, then it's a link.
@AhaoChannel i think its heavy? A is light, b is medium, c is heavy. Sajam said u is unique, i think there's an S button for the one button "modern" control system cuz sajam mentioned one button super, whereas the unique button with a move took meter so two different buttons i think. Cant wait to try this game out after the holidays!
I'd say one thing to mention is that while doing the guard crush move back can get you a big punish, it also results in you losing 2 diamonds (brave points) while they only lose one. As an alternative, if you don't have enough diamonds, or don't want to end up with the damage amp, bc the move is slow and doesn't have any armor, you can spot dodge it or jab out on reaction (advice from diaphone)
Man they should make Djeeta always playable like Gran. She's the main character too~ (Then we can have 5 playable characters if they kept three rotating ones, that would be neat)
Well, technically she isn't main character of Versus. Gran is. Djeeta just came by due to story reasons. She isn't just genderswapped Gran in original GBF either - they fullfill the same role for the world's they are in but they are not carbon copies of each other (even just reading their bio's in Versus confirms that)
@@I_recommend_suicide Apparently Djeeta's name is taken from the Japanese pronunciation of Granblue Fantasy? Kind of like Gran. So in a way we're already there. For us though, clearly Gran is the only one.
@@NaoyaYami Oh yeah GBVS specifically has its own story. I wonder if they always default to Gran for these sorts of adaptations. Like for animes and other spinoff games. Still it would be nice to have an excuse to get both versions of the main character guaranteed for the free version.
Things i noted: The U special moves only refund 25 if you throw the move "raw" (alone), cuz if done mid combo it doesnt refund 25 (this opens up for e.x. Zeta's 150 bar combo shenanigans)
It still works mid combo, just not if you cancel into it. So for example, one of Seox's anti-air trials has you counterhit 2H>spot dodge, then 236U as they fall down. This gives you the refund because it was "from neutral". Or a link, in other words
You are right. Also, if you play gran and have 30% hp and do the normal ssab, you can press the special button once the ssab hits and use the other ssab gran has. That ssab then removes another diamond.
I admit as a free to play baby I'm a little disappointed that Djeeta was on the free rotation when I started. It's like if Street Fighter 2 was a free to play and they gave you Ryu and said "You get Ken for free this rotation". I'm probably going to drop the cash for the premium version, though. Game's cool.
In case you don't know, you could chip kill in this game. However, I am not sure what is the requirement to do a chip kill. I think you need to deplete the opponent's diamond to do a chip kill.
To explain chips: blocking any special or super while on literally 1 pixel of life kills you via chip. But there's a tiny bit of anti-chip protection in that if let's say you're at 2 life and you get hit by a special that would normally do 5 chip damage, you get put to 1 instead and then the *next* special will chip you. Also, multihit specials can't chip kill in the middle of the special, it has to be a follow up special move that chip kills.
@@jaskaranbajwa8443 ahh. so that's what I'm doing wrong. I've been used to sf's chip kills where I could get a chip kill from 1 super/special as long as the hp is in the chip kill zone. Nice to know what I need to know to do a chip kill.
Sajam, you gots to throw down some matches as ladiva, i am having such a blast playing her. My goodness is she so much fun with the new system. Great vid i learned much. 👍
It bugs the hell out of me that you can use the U versions of moves when they are on cooldown but if they aren't on cooldown the U version puts them on cool down Like either interact with the cooldown system or not damnit! It just feels weird and wrong, kind of like how you can chip kill but only if your opponent is on pixel health and not already in blockstun feels like 2 people were arguing over the systems and just tried to sneak the way they wanted in at the same time.
A mechanic not mentioned is that if you are F2P you cannot block and can only ex dp or super as a defensive option
Crazy Sajam forgot to mention that deluxe edition players get access to a 4th bravery point.
@@Moth-Grinder650 Deluxe Edition players are not real just like F2P normal blocking is not real
all f2p grans have corner combos, whiff punishes, and decent reactions
but will never block on wakeup if they have anything to say about it

Gotta add that you can spot dodge the guard break to blow somone up
It even has a cool slowdown if you do it

The supers changing the number of diamonds you have is really cool I think.

Good short video to link to a friend who doesnt know the game, thanks sajam
you forgot to add, there are super jumps. press down and then up
