I think the PS2's biggest strength was the huge variety of genres and gameplay styles across its catalog of games. It really had something for everyone.
It really was the best time to be a gamer then!
Best system, best library ever. By far.
the age of video games not being main stream and a eden of creativity ended with the PS2. Now you get the same 4 type of games. Year end and Year out. Filled with censorship, microtransactions and burnout.

I love comparing late gen ps2 games to the early ones of 2000. It is crazy how much the graphics and polygon count increased. PS2 was a beast once developers had all the documentation and learned how to use the vu0 and vu1. To this day I am blown away at the character models of silent hill 2,3 and 4. The faces have so much detail. Team silent was a gem

Glad to see some love for Gregory Horror Show. Hardly anyone has heard of it and it was amazing. Shame it was never released on PSN as they don't really make games like this anymore.

My fav underrated gem on PS2 is a mountain bike game called Downhill Domination. Many hour spent with friends racing down hills, getting massive air and doing insane combo tricks. Quadruple backflips. As many backflips you can squeeze in during airtime. And many massive and varied maps and tracks with little unique hazards and set pieces on the way. So much fun. It's a unique take on the extreme sports game. It's like half fantasy racing and half real mountain biking. It's one of the few examples of a biking game done right. Oh and there's combat! You can punch, kick, swing a stick and throw water bottles at rivals. Check it out!
I like that you mention having a "satisfying experience" showing the sexy girl. I always thought that shooter was called Silpheed, I think you misspelled it.
It's always good to see those more obscure games being more recognized, I think the PS2 will grant you dozens of episodes just by this subject.
Cold Winter was definitely inspired by Goldeneye and Soldier of Fortune. For a PS2 FPS exclusive, it was pretty fun. A great example of how great gameplay can matter more than just flashy HD graphics that most current FPS games hide behind.
And man do I wish that Punisher game would get remastered and uncensored for current consoles and pc. Dang shame it didn't get a sequel. Volition will never make games like that today, lame...

Another great video! Punisher looks great. Looks a bit pricey, but will keep an eye out for it. Love these videos cause always finding out about a game I never knew about. PS2 is such a great system. Really miss the days where you didn't have to worry about patches or DLC, etc.

Wow! That 'Slipheed' game looks exactly like Silpheed on the PS2! I love how hardly anyone bothered to correct him and he even calls the game Slipheed more than once.
I like his videos but he's not the best with accuracy or editing. I noticed the Silpheed error too and it's one of many others. On a video about DS games he called Avalon Code, 'Alavon Code,' multiple times. His audio errors are blatant too, as I've heard him say the exact same things twice in a row on many occasions, like he merged footage without aligning it right. And his th-fronting is distracting, especially when he was showcasing 'Enthusia,' which he kept calling 'Enfoosia.'
I couldn't help but click the like button right at the first game shown, as I just *love* Ghost Hunter! The mix between Resident Evil and Ghostbusters just kicks ass, an the production values are great! Keep these videos coming, they're so cool!
I'd never heard of Slipheed the lost planet, that one peaked my interest the most. It would be great if Gregory Horror Show became available in newer platforms. Great vid! I'm always happy to learn about games I've either forgotten or never heard of.
Ive been trying to remember for years about Okage, because I played it so young I couldnt remember if it was a movie, show or weird dream I had 😂 thanks for unlocking that memory

Cold winter was great, I remember playing a lot of multi-player with my friends and having fun.
Also you could do combos in beast form pretty much since bloody roar 1, but 2 made it much easier/seamless
Silpheed would have been more fondly remembered if the developers had thought to include a save feature. Hell, even a password system to select your starting level would have been nice.
Okay, so this is the third video I’ve watched from this channel, and I gotta say man, I love that your lists call out genuinely awesome looking games that I had no idea about before. I feel like a lot of list channels tend to lean on games that have been talked about to death, but your stuff leans just as hard into super interesting games that I’ve just never heard about (maybe it’s a US thing?)

Great video! I've watched just about every hidden gems/forgotten gems video for PS2 and this is the first time I've seen Ghost Vibration. Doing some research it appears to be a PAL exclusive which might explain it
Unfortunately some are pal system games😥🌜I found some interesting game's myself that are a pal system game like largo winch empire under threat is and the ps2 version of alone in the dark the new nightmare is I now own a copy of largo winch empire under threat ps2 version someday I hope and pray to be able to enjoy it I got the ps1 version of alone in the dark the new nightmare but my ps1 part of my ps2 system is out to lunch for now anyway so it's the waiting game for me to get both my ps2 system's fixed totally the right way until then they wait✌🌜

A bit of useless information. "Slipheed: The Lost Planet" is a remake/ reimagining of the old Sierra Online bullet hell shooter "Silpheed". The original game was a PC game from the x486 IBM era. That's 1989, kids.

I have Slipheed (Sylpheed) on Sega CD, this sequel on PS2 you showed, and Project Sylpheed on Xbox 360. All 3 underrated for their time, not ground breaking...but just respectable gameplay, fun settings and good enough graphics... that always went under the radar in their respective time periods. Gregory Horror Show is another one that caught my eye while emulating, unfortunately I don't have an authentic copy yet though of that PAL only gem.
Cold Winter is great fun. Would like to see it coming to current gen, perhaps the Switch. :)

Interestingly, Ghost hunter has a much improved US release from Namco. Many improvements were made to the gameplay and while it's not amazing still, it's definitely better to play.
Lmao I still have my copy I got from GameStop since 2004. Severely underrated and wanted to get Silent Hill 3 then - as a kid.

I love your videos! And I would be very grateful if you start putting the names of the games on the bottom during the gameplay videos. I am a collector, so I have a list of games I would like to buy for my collection. But whenever I see an interesting game in your videos, I need to keep going back to the part where the name appears, because I never remember the name hahahaha If you start leaving the name at the bottom of the video, it would help a lot!
I always thought Baldur's Gate:Dark Alliance and Freedom Fighters were a couple of overlooked games which were LOADS of fun to play.

The PS2 is a truly unique system with an outstanding game library... Which is why it's such a shame that PS2 emulation is such a trashfire even in 2021
I feel now its way better to emulate. I do it and it works like a charm.
Gregory horror is much needed to be released in the U.S
I’m a bit late suggesting this but I live the Smugglers Run series on PS2, especially the second one, great games.
While more violent, the Punisher game looks more like the comics than the 2004 movie. Which is weird considering they came out the same year. Thanks for sharing.

I have Ghosthunter, Silpheed, Punisher and Okage. Would have loved to play Gregory Horror Show, but sadly, it was UK only.
Incidentally, Crimson Sea 2 can be found among the PS2 classics on the PS3's PSN store.
this era of crazy hidden and charm games never never will comeback, so lets better rejoice to find hidden gems....

I miss Bloody Roar. Soul Calibur managed to survive and even got a PC release with later games. Bloody Roar remained forgotten sadly...

This list has very criminally underated games on it, they all look good and that's cool, I have never heard of most of them until now but I have played Bloody Roar 3 and The Punisher, they were both fun and the others look fun to play as well, thanks for showing us these criminally underated PS2 games, this was a good one TVGS ✌️

I would recommend Scaler, Blowout and Mission Impossible: Operation Surma.
If you make another of these, you should really try Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero, Chaos Legion, Shinobi, Ring of Red, and Digital Devil Saga
Ring of Red had awesome gameplay, but I can't help but think the plot was ripped straight outta Gundam Stardust Memory. Great game however

I have never heard of Gregory Horror Show. Now I want to go and find a copy. Probably priced through the nose now. As with a lot of the hidden gems on older consoles. Gonna get Okage for the PS4 as well. Thanks for two new titles to grab.

PS2 games for some reason I still think about going back and playing through. Just the other day was thinking about Jade Cocoon 2's post-game and wondering how fun it'd be to try that again.

To me the PS2 was the console generation where developers finally perfected 3D video games

Ghost Hunter water effects are pretty good for a game that didn't sell well.
I love the PS2.Also its called Silpheed ("Sil-feed") not Slipheed. The predecessor also named Silpheed was also released on the Mega CD.

Gregory Horror Show gameplay reminds me of Clocktower 3 gameplay like hide and seek from stalker. Well it's Capcom game and Gregory Show came out a year later after Clocktower 3 (it's different franchise btw).

I still have my ps2 and all games.....cant play them now even with the platform....they are so primitive compared to games today....but some of the storylines were freakin great....wish they would go back and bring them up to date...without wrecking the original story.....

Can't comment on most of them, but I can't help rolling my eyes at Bloody Roar 3. It's markedly inferior to 2 in terms of gameplay (CPU tends to cheat with the passive guard, among other things) and presentation.
How fatal frame aka project zero isn't a horror genre juggernaut franchise is beyond me
