I couldn't agree more with Ring of Red an Road Trip Adventures! I bought the later out of boredom years ago and I had so much fun with it. It stands in my top ten favorites
Ring of Red is a piece of art. The design of and the way the machines move is so very memorable and impactful. Its one of the most artistically strong games on the Playstation 2. Art direction trumps graphics every time.
This and strategic games like Valkyrie chronicles are few and far between. Turn-based strategy/ realtime action hybrid would be genre on its own if only more games would use it's philosophy.
I love the videos of this guy: straight to the point well written scripts, nice gameplay recording and editing, interesting and obscure choice of games and most of all no bullshit youtube comedy. Keep it up!
@@budyll1 I personally like his way of doing commentary, it’s true he lacks enthusiasm in his voice, but enthusiasm in youtube videos is often fake and dare I say cringe. I prefer a more deep narrator-like voice and he comes close enough, or at least he tries. 1000x times better than a fake overly excited commentary with a voice that seems to come out of a children’s cartoon
I randomly found that Ghost in the Shell game second hand at an anime convention for a buck or two. Picked it up and remember having a bit of fun with it. That was around the time when the PS3 was out. I still have it though and might give it another shot.
I recently started collecting obscure/underrated games for different consoles and these videos are perfect! Definitely picking some of these up soon. Thanks! :)
Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone complex is great, even though the 1st area at the start of the game can be annoying because of the crane stage. Once you get past the first area, the game starts to become very fun. Glad I got it before it went up in price.
I absoutely loved Ghost in the Shell on PS2. The gameplay was really good for its time and the musics were absolutely awesome (I even bought the OST back then)
Oni takes me back it was one of the very first games I had on my ps2, don’t know where it got to maybe it was a rental. A game called Bouncer was also one of the very first games I had on it too. I also love Jade Cocoon 2, nice to see it.
Thanks for the recommendations but I already own quite a few of these on this list. They also made a sequel to GunGrave on PS2 called “GunGrave: OverDose”. “Ghost in The Shell” is one of my top favorite anime too.
Ring of Red was pretty incredible and I'm sad to say it's gone missing from my collection. Fortunately, I see that the price for it isn't super outrageous, so I foresee me going to eBay in the near future.
Oni I really love this game so much I don't have the memories about the controls but when I was a teenager the game was so cool to me, I should playing again today I think
Oh my goodness. Thank you, thank you, Thank You For Bringing Up Road Trip Adventure. I think in America it might be called Everywhere Road Trip? But either way, I love that game so much and I want everyone to know about this adorable, strange, and completely unique game. I still complete it about once a year. It's a truly fun blend of different genres that scratches a very particular itch. Good show!
Some of these games I remember and some I do not, but the only thing I remember from the Primal game is that it was in every stores bargain bin. Great list and great content.
Danggggg Primal, haven't thought about this game for years! I remember picking it second hand for next to nothing, a hot dog would have cost me more and I was blown away by the game and it's soundtrack.
So much love for the mighty playstation consoles!! Ps1 and ps2 are the golden Era of console gaming for shizzle. Still collecting gems long forgotten or never discovered until 20 yrs later..... better late than never!!! Hail to thw playstation 🙌!!
Great video! All solid games worth playing. All except Oni, those controls will make any sane person scream out in fustration. Gungrave is so so fun (while it lasts)
I'd still recommend playing Oni, just not the PS2 version. It was primarily developed for PC, with the PS2 version just being a port. The controls are muuuch better with a mouse and keyboard.
Woah, that Ghost in the Shell game was unexpected. Quality Japanese games don't get by me easily, but that definitely went under my radar. Gameplay reminds me a little of Vanquish on the Xbox360/PS3, being a third person shooter combined with mobility options and melee attacks that feel more like they belong in a character action game like DMC or Ninja Gaiden. I've associated Japanese third person shooters most strongly with the 7th gen systems, so finding one that is new to me on the PS2 is a bit of a shock! Normally with videos like this, I don't find anything that I wasn't already aware of, so it was a nice change of pace. One of my PS2 favourites that happens to be practically unknown is Reveal Fantasia, although never being released outside of Japan doesn't do it any favours. Thanks for the video, I'll make sure to check out some of your others soon!
Out of all the PS2 games you listed, I have only have heard of the game Primal, it looks very cool and really reminds me of Devil May Cry 1, 2, and 3, all of the other ps2 games look good as well and fun to play as well, I just hope I can play one of these ps2 games someday and enjoy it, thank you TVGS for making another great list of PS2 games ✌️
Red Faction 1 is my favorite of the franchise. Wish it would get a current consoles and pc remake/Remaster. Unfortunately, Volition doesn't make games like that now. Sane for The Punisher 2005, also on PS2. Winback is an interesting 3rd person action game. The PS2 version is definitely the way to play as it has better graphics and hilarious voice acting unlike the n64 version. Maybe check out Killswitch as well. A game like Oni today could be legendary if done right. Bungie doesn't make games I care for now. Ever play Delta Force Black Hawk Down on PS2?
I need to get another copy of Gungrave. I had it new back in the day but traded it in. Pretty sure my brother bought both of them second hand a few years ago though. I still have Oni on PC from back when it was new as well, it was pretty fun. I might want to try it on the PS2. Definitely think I need to find GitS, never played that one but loved the original movie+2.0, the series kinda...
I am in the camp that likes Oni. Though I attempted to play though it multiple times I have never finished it. I have gotten very far into it. It gets really hard.
Nice lists, although I think they're missing some horror games for a change, specially Obscure 1, such an amazing game with unique gameplay that its an improvement over Resident Evil's gameplay, and it really deserved more popularity.
Ring of red looks like a run gem, the art kind of reminds me of Metal Max or Valkyria Chronicles. Road Trip Adventure I've been meaning to try since I learned it was part of the Choro Q series (always weird). Always more love for Jade Cocoon as well, love me some monster raising.
Another, maybe better known vehicular RPG would be "Seek and Destroy". Has probbably all the RPG mechanics mentioned here but set around tank-battles. Red Faction also got a sequel on PS2.
Another great video. Gungrave looks awesome. Wanted to pick up a copy, and while it might be forgotten, it's definitely not cheap. Sad that seems to be the trend these days. All these older games I'd like to go back and play cause I missed them are just so expensive now.
That’s because many people are in your shoes. They want to go back and play some of these games. That and having collections is very popular now. People like showing off what they got. But I wonder if ps2 collecting will continue when that generation of gamers get older. When we’re 50 and 60 will we care about our game collection.
@@jngx80 personally I think yes! Maybe even more so, we are a gaming generation and it will always be in our blood, and the games will then be even more rare and even more valuable, we know we have emulators, but we want the originals , the hard copy’s, how it’s meant to be, just look at how vinyl has surged again!
Primal, Red Faction, Ring of Red, Road Trip, Oni and Ghost in the Shell are all games I own did you get a hold of my collection? Primal needs more love BTW
Great, there a ton of games that i dream to play , And now with a brand New great emulator for mobile phone, finally we can play PS2 games anywhere we want.
I remember red faction I don’t have it anymore but I do want to get it again it just got really difficult for me towards the end of the game so I got frustrated and gave it away. Even the forgotten games in ps2 is still beautiful. That's why ps2 is the best console of all time. Insane variety of games
I cant disagree. The Ps2 really does have something for everyone.

Yup, we could use a few less Game Sacks in this platform!

What games you got so far
Platform jumping in the crane section while you are being fired at the by drones made me so agro

Yes! I have this game and beat it and this was the first thing that came to my mind.😂
Man, Red Faction was such a gem! I used to spend hours just solo'ing the multiplayer maps against cp bots lol
Haha the multiplayer was so much fun!
Nice to see Primal, so underrated exclusive game, lot of fun with this one in those times
Was such a good game. It’s a shame it never got the attention it deserved!

Gungrave is by far my favorite on Ps2, and Overdose. Love the anime as well. As you can tell by my SN
Glad to see Ring of red on this list. The most hidden gem of the PS2 imo.
Such a good turn based strategy game. Deserves way more love!
I absoutely loved Ghost in the Shell on PS2. The gameplay was really good for its time and the musics were absolutely awesome (I even bought the OST back then)
Ring of Red is one of my all time favorites. It's nice to see it get some recognition.
Ghost in the Shell: SAC is a fantastic game. Played it on the Jampack US 2004 demo disc and fell in love when I got the actual game a few years later.
Road trip adventure was frickin awesome, I played it so much back in the day. You end up on a rainbow/cloud island, and get the ability to fly

Oni I really love this game so much I don't have the memories about the controls but when I was a teenager the game was so cool to me, I should playing again today I think
A friend of mine gave me Oni for the PC back then and I had a lot of fun with it, but now I can't remember where I stored it

Jade Cocoon is sadly forgotten as a series.
