I have recently found a solution to this which is playing with massive amounts of gain, boosting the front & back of the "amp" & more mids & treble than I would normally use. This improved the dynamics enough to begin to be able to lighten up on the pick again but it's taking time to get back to where I was & I still have a nagging pain in my thumb. Thank god for the new generation of modelers. I gots to git me one soon.
For me multi fx have taught me a great deal about tone & effects chains. As you said, I simply didn't have the resources to experiment like that on "real" amps & effects. Great for practice as well. On the down side, I've been playing exclusively on a modeler for the last few years & it's had a really bad effect on my playing due to their lack of touch sensitivity. I've gone from having a really light touch to having to hit the strings so hard to find some dynamics that it hurts.
Well, i don't know about the newer models but my first ever multi FX was a 2nd hand Digitech RP1 and it was awesome! we're talking circa 1992 here so the sounds wouldn't be amazing by today's standards but i loved it and i recorded my first little instrumental album using it, made a bunch of tape copies and sold them at local shows when i was 17. As i said, i wouldn't have been able to do that without a Multi FX!
Hey man if you dig the Line 6 HD series more that's cool! Music/tone etc is subjective and our ears all work in different ways of course! I try not to get into a ranking structure with equipment, you just have to find something that works for you and helps to inspire your playing. I was talking more generally about how Multi FX are being used now and how they've helped us, tell us how you use them and how they've helped you. I've owned an HD300 before and it was pretty cool. :)
My GT8 was my fave mutli FX too, i struggled to get the same kind of tone from the GT10 (which was probably down to me being useless) but i have to say that the 100, in my humble opinion has far surpassed my GT8 and 10. i can still get all my GT8 modelling (my fave was the 5150) but it reacts like a proper amp too. Good videos by the way mate :)
can you make a video where u use the expression pedal.. i havent found a single video where they use it and i rlly wanna know what it sounds like.. also i read the loop station is only 38 seconds does it mean i can record 38 seconds but it can repeat itself for longer.. or it will only go on for 38seconds unless i repress it?? ;s
I understand your point Lee, but I really feel Boss products too digital, artificial and lacking of warmth, compared for example to the Line 6 POD HD products. Cheers!

Yeah, i think so too, my GT8 was my fave multi FX for years but now it's definitely the GT100!

Great video, Lee! This helps me understand some of the differences between this and the GT-10. Seems like I need to get one!

Im so happy with it .Much much better than the previous GT-10.
Yeah, I'm thinking....after my new Les Paul is paid off, time to get one. Quite the upgrade from a ME50 lol!
