just bought this last month from Andertons, its a beast, i love it, i was confused between PHD HD500 or gt100, 1st their was lots of issues with POD HD500, where BOSS GT100 is well build, 2nd, their is no DSP limit in line6 POD HD500, where in gt100 their is no such issue. 3rd is very nice sounding amp model in gt100 with custom amp, where u can build your own amp, i like how u can tweak in gt100 on board where in pod hd500 u can hardly make good sound in on the fly, u need editor. I had pod hd500 but i chose to switch to gt100, its much better in my ears guys, rest is upto you, never judge the sound quality between two in youtube video, go to andertons and try yourself.
Hi! The Boss Gt-100 is an excellent multi FX that although provides top quality Metal/Rock/Acoustic sounds may not quite provide the more synth type of sounds. Atmospheric yes, audio panning and beautiful reverbs will provide endless atmospheric sounds. As for the other sounds, there are pitch bending and some stranger synth effects in the presets towards the higher banks. I personally would suggest the Gr-55 as it is built purely for synth rather than the rock and metal sounds, hope this helped
Hey everyone, Lee from Roland here. If you’re interested in hearing the GT100 directly into a PA and you’re in and around the Midlands I’ll be playing a 3 hour improvised set at the Jam Café in Nottingham from 1-4pm tomorrow (21/4/2012). Come along and say hi and try it for yourself. It's not a Roland demo just a regular gig. For those who can’t make it I’ll be filming it and will endeavor to post the results for you ASAP! :-)
GT-10 sounds great when wired to amps efxloop and input with "4 cable-method" allowing you to choose between GT-10s preamp-simulation and the physical amp with just the other GTs efxs.
Got to agree the video doesn't really do it justice, I've had mine for a couple of weeks now and doing some searching on TH-cam I've managed to get some really nice tones from it, mainly Smiths and Pink Floyd clean tones, running it through a blues junior it sounds awesome with both my tele and Strat.
Truly sad that the GT-100 is so regularly demoed by your standard speed merchants looking to get as much overdrive and distortion into the signal as possible. Bad enough listening to these numpties in the guitar shop. The options on this board have to be far more sophisticated than this. What about modulation and other options that are more interesting than the usual crap that hides yet another dull blues progression (no matter how fast it's played)? Or is it that this board is destined for metal tribute kids and Line 6 is the better option?
Spot on mate! So annoying hearing so many reviews that have the heavy rock Marshall or Soldano shredd bollocks! Yes they’re great sounding amps but it’s so boring hearing these tones over and over, we don’t all play heavy rock, some of us musicians write songs that have more melodic guitar riffs and softer rhythm guitar parts. Indeed you can create and accomplish so much more from this and using the modulation FX you get so many lovely warm, tonal colours with the addition of nice delays and reverbs the possibilities are endless with excellent results. I think my GT100 is a fantastic multi FX unit and does everything and more that I need it to, really well built unit, reliable and I find easy to program which I know many find it hard and difficult having to delve into pages in the unit to edit parameters which I understand, but for me that’s what I love about creating, designing and and producing my own personal guitar sound and style and is a great part of being a producer and engineer and gives you the knowledge and experience when using other gear as every piece of gear uses the same parameters and procedures to build and design a sound, sound synthesis is such a great thing to me, that I never tire or get bored of cos possibilities are endless in the world of sound. These reviews and demos should concentrate a bit more on the modulation and delay FX as this would show of the full potential of what can be achieved with the GT100. If Johnny Marr uses this live and has managed to emulate his wonderful guitar sounds using this unit from when he used to use his individual pedals like the Carl Martin pedals he used to use and has got pretty much the same results he’s happy with and rates it then for me it shows how good it is.
Great demo...I LOVE lee and Chapman dynamic. The new guy is good...but what drew me to the this channel was the quirkily ness of Lee Chapman..I love it for its contrast and humor.. Love it...all Three have a good vibe... Ed Boise Idaho..USA
Everyone struggles through this pedalboard swapping from amp to amp and speaker cab to speaker cab, but everyone over see the custom amp and speaker function. If you cant find the amp sound you are looking for, make your own :D I played with it for some time yesterday, and I must say I been using it wrong all this time.
I like Chappers humour and like him when he's in blues mode but often close your eyes n just listen and its just shreddy stuff that isn't really musical and devoid of melody.
I almost missed Boss-Lee's Robocop shirt. That's one classic movie, one of my absolute favourites. Saw it for the first when I was in kindergarten, massively edited though.
This video really doesn't do any justice for the gt100. These goofs can't set it up right and Chapman's annoying ego gets in the way of everything. And what the hell what's that at the ending? "now we're going to to put it through the table so you hear it straight from the unit" = sounds like a 100 horses running over a bag of crap. I have a gt 100 and trust me, it does not sound ugly like that. The guys are salesmen, I think they really don't take the time to read manuals, experiment and do it properly.
TheFabio I don't mind Chapman but I don't understand the whole Monkey Lord thing. I think it's a nickname he gave himself and keeps pushing and it's cringy as fuck whenever he brings it up. Don't give yourself a nickname.
Yes, I tried to watch because I just bought a gt 100 and am in that process of cruising Utube to see all the videos related to it but couldn't make it through this, one I hate it when utube recommends his channel.
Hello Rob Chapman would you make complete review and details of Boss GT-5 ,I have bought it second hand but don,t know how to use it.I'm complete begginer .Thank-you.
20th Century Boy The gt100 will me be more versatile and can also control your amp, the me80 will sound pretty much the same but there will have less effects and you can't control your amp with it. So if you need lot of fx and amp control => gt100, if you just want classic fx and don't care about the amp control => me80
20th Century Boy What Pideuh Weuh said but,,, On the other hand. The ME 80 is far more intuitive to use from what I can see. I have the 80 (very easy to use) & just ordered the 100. Good news is with both of them you can go to Boss Tone Central site & download some great tones/ patches made by some great players. I like to tweak things around so with the GT 100 fun times are ahead.
So true! I'd like to hear it through an old Fender Twin or an Orange Tiny Terror on a clean setting plugged into an Orange PPC212 with Vintage 30's ;-)
I'm thinking of buying one of these and not sure if I should settle with this or the Roland GR-55 synthesizer. Are are you aware of that model and what are your thoughts on it? Basically, I want something that can give me a lot of different sounds; atmospheric sounds. Kinda like Angels and Airwaves and a little Owl City. I want it for atmospheric rock and just generally to have lots of sounds. What do you think?
I would love to, but I already have the HD500. It would definitely come in handy for when I'm just doing studio stuff. Then I could just leave my HD500 in the bag for playing live. It is a pain going back and forth from my studio desk to the bag every week. lol. Do you have one?
Line 6 POD HD, its really great to use, I mean the HD Amp simulating its pretty good, but I mainly use it for the effects, they truely are amazing. Pus you can output in true stereo for some awesome sounding recordings, but thats just my opinion. Also with this being only £350, if not £300 in some places, its much better. However if you want the wah / switching pedal as well, then by value its better to go for the Line 6 POD HD500, because its about £30-40 cheaper overall.
Is it clipping at the mic pre or something? That said, it's still square-wave clipped when they put it through the desk. If they'd said, "We just found this old multi-fx on Ebay for a tenner, let's give it a go", I wouldn't have been shocked.
Some may not agree, BUT, I call this "the poor man's Axe F/X". I own one and it works for ME. LOL!! Lots of great sounds in that thing. To each his own.
Looks good. I have owned 3x GT 8's and a Boss BR1600cd recorder. After time some of the square black buttons have failed on every unit. Has this been addressed ?
The chunky low end kinda turns into a loud woofing fuzz almost, not sure if its just the way it came across recorded or if it was the OP amp, but from what I remember of my old Line 6 POD XT Live it would certainly handle the metal sounds better, but the BOSS kicks its ass hands down for blues and rock.
Why is it, that were supposed to hear effects from the unit and again, all I'm hearing is how much distortion one can I muddy up the tone with. I would of liked to hear some of the effects in a clean tone that the unit has to offer.
Mann I owned a Marshall jcm 800, 900 and 2000. Yes ok I love paying in a Marshall, lol. I hated the digital years ago. Ill have to say I went out and played & brought the gt 100 and ill have to say its bloody sweet to play. Out of the box some sounds good. When I say good I mean not fake. It's all in the tweak and seek. But I've have done my research. I'm now playing in to a p.a and by ear I really don't think you would know if it was a tube amp or the boss gt100. Cheers and enjoy
Please!! MAKE A REVIEW OF BOSS WASA CRAFT!!!! :D :D :D Also a video of analog vs digital could be really interesting just to show a complete range sounds.
boss pedals are being used every night by professional artist around the world ,yea may be the gt 100 ,but there stand alone pedals are the best hands down!
are the models the same as the GP10? I have it, and the models of guitars (strat and LP especially), the synth and the alternate tunings are great, but I was not particularly impressed by the models. way better the sound of my peavey valveking....I use it only for alternate tunings and dynamic FXs, with a POD HD400 in the loop for delays and mods
Why did you stop showing the close-up of the pedal-screens during the programming? That's the time I would have had most use of it. (I would have liked a really close close-up even.) Other than that, great demo!!
hey did u buy the gt100?did it sound good on the oragne crush?im also wondering to get one and i use a or 15 amp and just dont know if it will sound good..
Yes I bought. The sound is fantastic. GT-100 work very well with the orange... Just let the orange all flat and turn off the effects and the overdrive.
Bruno Lopes thnx man...i see u have the orange dual terror too...did that gt 100 sound great with the tube amp?a lot of analog pedals sounds crap with my tube amp so im thinking about just getting a multi fx pedal...instead of spending money on those small pedals....thnx for your insight...
+Jiwan Gurung I also have the Orange OR15 and I must say this amp is really quite picky on pedals... Amp tone is awesome by itself but it doesnt rly take pedals very well :/
POD HD's aren't as bad as BOSS stuff tbh. The only letdown on the POD's are the cabs when used with high gain amp models (still better than BOSS though).
Not a bad demo chaps but I still think we need Johnny DeMarco to demo the GT100 plugged into a Marshall JVM410 head and cab and cranking out at 6 am so he's all groggy and can whisper all the new tonal secrets to us :p
Well in the end it depends on the user of course. But since amps are heavy, take a lot of space in the car and on stage, and make mixing the band harder for the sound guy in direct comparison, I really don't see why somebody would take the hazzle if they don't need to. Too small of a sound difference in such a noisy environment. Also for small artists' recordings a home recorded modeller sounds a million times better than a cheap studio's recorded real amp.
Eh? I always thought the main purpose of these multi fx floor based thingys was to be used in front of an amp.Of course they can be used for other applications too.
Great video guys! Still sticking to my line 6 stuff, but that kinda makes sense when you are 2/3rds of the way into the "dream rig" like me! Your videos also helped me make that decision. Check out some of my demos some time. You guys have inspired me to make better videos.
no emulating rack/multifx/amp is ever going to be the EXACT SAME as the amp they are trying to emulate they are just trying to come as close as possible
Completely agree.. roland could be amazing at this but they can never make their pedals sound anything but shit. Especially compared with the often cheaper pods
I dig that you like them but not the best pedals hands down. Look around. Some people are using those old ross pedals. Most of the popular boss pedals are being modified now. So that makes it boss by looks but inside it's something else. I don't hate them but there isn't much diff- in the tech these days. They all sound the same just more features.

Loving your work Lee W. Is a Chappers vs Wrathe 'shred off' on the cards. That would be epic...
Woah..Chappers got good lookin'

Who has used this much chorus since 1989?
if rob and lee played a guitar solo back to back while harmonizing, 2 things would happen. Gates to heaven and hell would open
Hi, I am thinking of buying the gt 100 but i also like the me 80, which one do you think is better, easy and has good sounds?

greatvanzinni Can't wait for the next generation of pedals. Beyond the Kemper or Axe FX at an affordable price.
greatvanzinni I bought the ME-8- about 4 weeks ago. I think i chose wisely. Its absolutely brilliant.
Thanks for the help guys.
20th Century Boy ME 80? If so you'll love. & go to Tone Central!
I have a GT-100 and for me it's very good pedalboard

Well it was Rob who uploaded the video... What about when they did videos with the reps from Blackstar, Fender, Line 6, etc?
what's the funky song Chappers is playing at 13:54 ?
Is it clipping at the mic pre or something? That said, it's still square-wave clipped when they put it through the desk. If they'd said, "We just found this old multi-fx on Ebay for a tenner, let's give it a go", I wouldn't have been shocked.

How did you setup the GT100 with the Cube 80XL? What "Output Select" setting did you use?
Is it possible to play sounds of an external sound module like the integra-7 with the GT-100 by using midi output? Thanks for help
what to choose...ME 80 ori GT 100?
Trying to choose one of these two myself!
Can you do a side by side comparison video of this and an HD500 by Line6?
is it connected directly into a CUBExxx?? and how did you guys set the CUBE amp?
Chappers rocks. Captain too. Love that pick flick... where is the Bong of Destiny? or is Lee hogging it? :p

Go to Andertons TH-cam channel - there are some GT100 there that go direct into the PC. Cheers, Lee
yep this is definitely how to study for my math exam
The jack thammarat one makes it sound so much better
any chance you guys review the new les paul standart loving the new feature
If using this as an audio interface can I hook 2 mics to it and record drums with the 2 mics at the same time ?
Like a Boss indeed
I have a Boss GT-8 and I personally think it sounds better.
But I also use it with VSTs and cabinet impulses with it.
Hello! Can I plug the GT 100 directly into speakers or 4x12 cab? Or do I need to run it through a power amp to get sound?
You need a power amp.
Please!! MAKE A REVIEW OF BOSS WASA CRAFT!!!! :D :D :D
Also a video of analog vs digital could be really interesting just to show a complete range sounds.
boss pedals are being used every night by professional artist around the world ,yea may be the gt 100 ,but there stand alone pedals are the best hands down!

Hi Rob, I'm thinking to buy a GT-100. I have a Orange Crush Pix 35. Do you know if the GT-100 will work good with it?
hey did u buy the gt100?did it sound good on the oragne crush?im also wondering to get one and i use a or 15 amp and just dont know if it will sound good..
Amp tone is awesome by itself but it doesnt rly take pedals very well :/
What exactly is the axe fx? I looked up some videos but it all seems confusing to my ears..
did they mean that alex quit for roland or that guy if filling in for him?
there will be one day when digital effects sounds like a good ol vintage tube amp, but it is not this day =(
good for the kids, the pedals will always win this competition with the processors !... :)
awesome !!
Boss gt10 then gt100 ,gt1000,does that mean the next product in this range gt10000,seem to be just adding zeros on the end
starts gettin better, when chappers comes in
could you create a massive chain of boss metal zone's with this?
Boss anderton ;) Bossin a boss like a BAWWSS
Why did you put it through the Cube? It makes the pedal sound like ass.
may be not..i guess its a personal taste ,but i like all kinds..line 6...electro harmonix dunlop,..etc...cheers.
Roland Cube 30. He clearly says at around the 17:50 mark.
POD HD's aren't as bad as BOSS stuff tbh. The only letdown on the POD's are the cabs when used with high gain amp models (still better than BOSS though).
LIKE A SIR!
Finally, a piece of gear i DON'T want.
Not a bad demo chaps but I still think we need Johnny DeMarco to demo the GT100 plugged into a Marshall JVM410 head and cab and cranking out at 6 am so he's all groggy and can whisper all the new tonal secrets to us :p
how come alex hutchings doesn't work for boss anymore?
Nice!
But did they need to make it so large
Rob when are you going to jam with phil x ?????/ We cant wait !!!!
The styling of it makes it look like an older model to me.
And POD HD500 FTW!
First patch he plays on and it sounds like poo in a box. Nice!
Sounds big through the amp.directly into the desk sounded a bit dull, but chappers his playing is making up for a lot what it lacks in tone.
You should do the zoom G3!!
I knew the lead singer of Maroon 5 was a guitar player but I didn't know he was that good nor did I know he was from England. Good demo though.
Erm amp? These things are intended for not having to use an amp ;)
We miss blues/rock tones from Chris Geden!
All is explained in the video.
Eh? I always thought the main purpose of these multi fx floor based thingys was to be used in front of an amp.Of course they can be used for other applications too.
Looks like the Line 6 staff consists of the CEO and 40 employees...
Great video guys! Still sticking to my line 6 stuff, but that kinda makes sense when you are 2/3rds of the way into the "dream rig" like me! Your videos also helped me make that decision. Check out some of my demos some time. You guys have inspired me to make better videos.
BOSS get all the best players!
no emulating rack/multifx/amp is ever going to be the EXACT SAME as the amp they are trying to emulate they are just trying to come as close as possible

Well said... think some of these comment-ors need to leave their handbags at the door
chappers should demo a soldano!
Completely agree.. roland could be amazing at this but they can never make their pedals sound anything but shit. Especially compared with the often cheaper pods
to much shredding in a video where people want to her the effects sounds
Are you sad?
Huh , I've met that Roland rep :)
