Here is some advice, make sure you clean the machine and always check oil and coolant before you start. Make sure it’s not over full or fuel contaminated. Make sure the gas is not water contaminated. When you ran the engine with the breather line off you were seeing vapors because either the pcv was bad or it’s fuel contaminated from the miss fire. God knows how far it was driven or when the last oil change was. Also check the spark plugs other then that you are doing mostly the right things. A lot of people run there machine on reserve tank so fuel pump must be starting to go bad. Fuel pumps are cooled by the fuel in the tank good luck
I know of several cases where people have been doing donuts in polaris's and it starves the engine of oil. I think he has a bigger problem with that engine.
my 16 900s i just bought has 11600km or 7200 miles . I only paid $8700 in Quebec because Ontario Canada prices are way more . I figured yes it’s higher mileage but they all break down no matter the age . I decided to take a chance on it for the price. It’s Nice to see you get some newer machines to work on not that i don’t like all your repair videos . It’s just nice to see you worked on newer stuff
Personally id rather get a great deal on a higher mileage machine. That way you have extra cash to repair if needed, because as you said doesn’t matter the mileage anything can break.
@@rockspowersports only problem i’m having now is a clunking on the trail from the front . I have a little play in the first u joint but everything else in the front end seems tight . @@rockspowersportsquick question for you do you know where I can get a rear diff for a 2014 Polaris RZR 4 800 I live in Maine can travel to your area pretty easily
Ran across this issue with 1st generation generals. Ended up being the fuel. It had ethanol free fuel in it, colder weather made it crank hard or idle rough.
We have a lot of issues with the fuel pump relays. Works great one key cycle. Next key cycle machine stalls but will restart and stall again. Doesn’t matter what year Polaris. They always have relay issues. Relay may work for eps. But won’t work great for fuel pump when swapping relays in fuse box for testing
Nothing like any type of new vehicles now days with all the electronic gadgets...will have you pulling the hair out of your head...You gave it it good go.
sooooo, i am looking at a new 2023 same exact machine, would you say normally this is a solid reliable machine or should i look to something else??? thanks in advance for being honest, I can take it!! 🤠
@@rockspowersports what is the part that’s not so “most”…. Anything that I can do to improve the longevity or that is necessary to add when I get it Im all for doing?? Thanks
I'd charge a few hours for diagnostics, you did check a lot of things and find the breather puffing a ton of oil. Fuel maxed out on lean condition, checking fuel pressure seems the right idea, since the exhaust seems to be standard and the filter clean, and no obvious manifold leaks, where is the o2 finding too lean from? hmmmmmmm. You'll find it! need A/C in there!
If you slowly increase the thottle like that from idle, it will hold the rpm for awhile after letting it go. Its done that on my 2015 900 trail, my 2021 xp 1000, and my 2023 xp4. It seems that its just the nature of the drive-by-wire setup that polaris uses
Quick question my boss has a Polaris Razor 1000 that won't start unless you spray starting fluid in the carb once you spray it then it'll fire up and run perfect until you shut it off then you've gotta spray starting fluid in the carburetor again to get it started back he said that someone told him it has a sensor on the flywheel that is causing the issue do you have any ideas ss to what it could be or if it the flywheel sensor is indeed what's causing his problem with it not starting like it should
Could the fuel being dumped in causing the lower reading on the pressure gauge? It's almost like a how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie pop 😂
If they tried to put a universal O2 sensor in that they might have done it wrong you have to do it perfect or a universal O2 sensor will not work right it will show you good voltage but it will not work right that makes me think why he is burning through so much fuel
sounds like abusing the machine and then trying to fix it with aftermarket parts might be the issue. unfortunately new machines require OEM parts rather than the cheap aftermarket stuff. Sure doing donuts might be fun but it seems like that type of abuse might have created an issue.
Beat the crap out of my Arctic Cat 400 and my Suzuki King Quad 450. They take alot of abuse, unlike my uncles polaris ranger, thats always getting worked on.
Have a northstar Polaris already had issues with turf mode and now the snorkel gear jumped all under 4000kms on a bone stock machine roof leaks rear speakers don’t work absolute garbage.
More Polaris content, sweet!
Also - Congratulations on 20k subs! You are great!

Like all new vehicles, these things are over complicated. When you are way out on a trail in the woods, you can't call AAA!
Broken wires around the clutch cover in the main harness can cause a running issue, see it alot here locally

That would be easier to eliminate actually
I don't get it why not change for your time?
I had the same year transmission leaked from case the first time I drove it. After two time being fixed under warranty I sold it

Great video as always. Could it be a bad or dirty injector ?
Always thought about dropping a big 2-stroke snowmobile engine in a wildcat sport or rzr.... 1000cc 2-stroke would be fun...

I think it's the aftermarket O2 sensor I've seen many many aftermarket especially if it is a Polaris it needs an oem part.
