Beau has recurring abdominal pain for months. just grimaces on videos. Beau gets surgery for the condition. doesn't miss a upload. Beau recovers from surgery. misses maybe one upload in two weeks. Beau then gets sick. warns upload will be missed. The Beard of Iron has finally met its match.
Beau has said that the surgery for his "abdominal problem" took care of the problem. Today is different. From all the sniffing he had during the video, chances are he's losing his voice because of an upper respiratory virus. That's not a good thing to have if your voice is essential to your job. (It's why I have permanent damage to my vocal cords: I had to keep trying to talk even though my voice was giving out.) I hope he does cut back on the number of videos so that he can rest his voice. We can go without videos if it means that he can do them when we need him later in the year. As much as is going on right now, things are going to be "hopping" even more in the coming months.
In the short term Beau, we can live without you. In the long term, we need you. Take care of yourself so that we don't have to worry about the long term. 😊

The mental damage is going to be unfathomable. People who are homeless or have dealt with food scarcity in their childhoods will tell you that it changes their habits and how they look at food and respond to their every day life even as adults. And there are studies that show there is a significant relationship between food scarcity and mental illnesses like anxiety, depression, stress etc that become even more pronounced as the situation worsens.
There have been investigations into the consequences for young children, babies and the unborn children from the starvation winter in the Netherlands end of WW-2. These consequences are lifelong: less healthy, lower IQ, mental problems.
I will never stop pressuring my representatives to act to preserve life. Never! Years and years ago I heard Benjamin Netanyahu speak at our local Jewish Community Center. At that time, long before his current vicious medical care, thirst and starvation siege campaign, I asked how he could call Israel a kind and just nation when they controlled water supply to Palestinians and it was not sufficient, even then? Let me start off by saying that I wish to whatever gods might exist that Netanyahu gets ousted the very second this whole horrible ordeal is over. That said, to the best of my knowledge, Israel only supplies 8-12% of the water since it completely withdrew from Gaza in 2005. This was meant to be a stopgap measure allowing the Gazans time to set up their own infrastructure. Almost 20 years and I don't know how many hundreds of millions of dollars later, and they do not set up proper infrastructure on their own. Ever wonder why? Hell, since the war started there was at least one reported incident where the IDF engineering corps actually went in to repair water pipes that were destroyed _by Hamas_. Yes, what is going on is terrible. Because it is a war, and war is terrible. But if everyone wants a ceasefire so bad, how about they take all the pressure they are applying to Israel and also apply it to Hamas? Because if they were to return all the hostages, I'm pretty sure Israel would agree to a ceasefire (not a lasting peace, but a ceasefire for humanitarian purposes). But they are not even willing to state how many of the hostages are still alive. Bring aid in. Bring ALL the aid in. I have nothing against the innocents suffering in there. But find a way to make sure that it actually gets to the people. Because I'm looking at the numbers reported by Israel and it stands at almost 18k trucks carrying over 340k tons of food, water, medical supplies and shelter equipment. And before you say "oh that's just what they claim" - everything I've read from news organizations (and even the numbers quoted by the Biden administration) was based solely on what Hamas has said (the same Hamas who provided suspiciously round numbers in their reports, as Beau warns about), so at the very least it's a "he said, she said" and one side of that equation is a terror organization with shifty numbers and a willingness to sacrifice their civilians.

No articles based on opinions, no click bait, no press releases masquerading as news. Just the facts (ma'am - sorry not sorry) and if the make a mistake, they own it and put out a correction.

The thing about starvation is, it doesn't ramp up gradually. When the food runs out, EVERYBODY starves. In the context of Gaza this means up to three MILLION people. The weak will die first, the sick, the elderly and the children, but EVERYBODY is affected.
About 40 years ago i discovered hot lemonade -- made with lemon slices & honey... Most soothing thing ever! Hot Lemon Zinger tea is good, too. And gargling with warm salt water. Somehow i always forget about it for a few days & maybe it's that i face-palm so hard when i remember that i knock the snot in my head loose, but i find that gargling -- something so simple! -- helps me feel so much better.
If I do it as soon as I first feel a cold coming on, I drink a quart of *yellow* grapefruit juice and it kills the cold. Works for me every time and I've done it many dozens of times. But if don't do it until the next day, it still helps a lot, but it's too late to stop it cold... Umm, I'll show myself out.. 😅 Seriously, try it out next time you feel a cold coming on. Pink grapefruit juice helps, but doesn't kill the cold (for me).
My mom gave us honey and apple cider vinegar. Lemon is good, but vinegar with "live mother" has even more to offer. An infusion of ginger, licorice, mint, or any herb good for respiratory ailments. Gargle, especially with warm saltwater. Mass quantities of garlic, onion, red peppers, and/or horseradish will clear sinuses and support immune system. When the whole family is croaking and coughing, I make Vampire's Bane Chicken: before roasting the bird, stab it repeatedly with a small knife and stuff a peeled garlic clove in each cut and under skin. Fill the inside with onion and garlic. 1 bulb of garlic per bird if everyone is sick. The non-medicinal version uses less garlic, sliced before inserting. Plus the usual: rest, hydration, breathe steam plain or mentholated. Chinese loquat syrup (Pei Pa Kao) is the best I've found for respiratory ailments. These are the tips I find most useful to soothe symptoms and maybe speed healing.🖖✌

As for news, I for one would love to see,(and we are, here!) a return to the old style news reporters who tended to be just average people, straight from average homes. The anchors were more 'presenters', not rich, super educated, 'stars'. The editor was more responsible for adding context and FACT checking. That rarely occurs now! The episodes of PBS ‘have been showing starvation of pregnant women for weeks. That’s only in hospitals not out in public. Or what’s left of them. Take it easier Sir feel better
The reason shelter is not included is because it is not a hard rule. It can be 3 hours in a blizzard or it can be forever in a paradise. These are more or less universal assuming an average healthy human. Even in a desert with no water most people will survive around 3 days, roughly the same amount of time if they are floating in the middle of the ocean.

3 weeks without food assumes no food at all. Starvation takes longer in these types of conditions. It starts with the young and week, who we are already seeing dying on screen. The numbers will increase and increase significantly. And when they start going up, they will go up fast because that means we will have reached the limit for a lot of people under the actual conditions.
I am incredibly frustrated by the challenges which pre-State Arabic culture poses for coping with emergencies. I am also well aware of how the Christians, here, in the United States are working hard (and succeeding in many states) to strip women and gay people and transgender people of their rights. The thing about starvation is, it doesn't ramp up gradually. When the food runs out, EVERYBODY starves. In the context of Gaza this means up to three MILLION people. The weak will die first, the sick, the elderly and the children, but EVERYBODY is affected.

About 40 years ago i discovered hot lemonade -- made with lemon slices & honey... Most soothing thing ever! Hot Lemon Zinger tea is good, too.
And gargling with warm salt water. Somehow i always forget about it for a few days & maybe it's that i face-palm so hard when i remember that i knock the snot in my head loose, but i find that gargling -- something so simple! -- helps me feel so much better.
If I do it as soon as I first feel a cold coming on, I drink a quart of *yellow* grapefruit juice and it kills the cold. Works for me every time and I've done it many dozens of times. But if don't do it until the next day, it still helps a lot, but it's too late to stop it cold... Umm, I'll show myself out.. 😅
Seriously, try it out next time you feel a cold coming on. Pink grapefruit juice helps, but doesn't kill the cold (for me).
My mom gave us honey and apple cider vinegar. Lemon is good, but vinegar with "live mother" has even more to offer. An infusion of ginger, licorice, mint, or any herb good for respiratory ailments. Gargle, especially with warm saltwater. Mass quantities of garlic, onion, red peppers, and/or horseradish will clear sinuses and support immune system. When the whole family is croaking and coughing, I make Vampire's Bane Chicken: before roasting the bird, stab it repeatedly with a small knife and stuff a peeled garlic clove in each cut and under skin. Fill the inside with onion and garlic. 1 bulb of garlic per bird if everyone is sick. The non-medicinal version uses less garlic, sliced before inserting. Plus the usual: rest, hydration, breathe steam plain or mentholated. Chinese loquat syrup (Pei Pa Kao) is the best I've found for respiratory ailments.
These are the tips I find most useful to soothe symptoms and maybe speed healing.🖖✌

As for news, I for one would love to see,(and we are, here!) a return to the old style news reporters who tended to be just average people, straight from average homes. The anchors were more 'presenters', not rich, super educated, 'stars'. The editor was more responsible for adding context and FACT checking. That rarely occurs now! There are already hundreds dying from starvation right now. This weekend there will be thousands. Next week there will be tens of thousands.
Somewhere in those three is *shelter* because, depending on the weather, lack of shelter can be a threat
Shelter is climate dependent, so time frame is less neatly "pinpointed", though still important.
The reason shelter is not included is because it is not a hard rule. It can be 3 hours in a blizzard or it can be forever in a paradise. These are more or less universal assuming an average healthy human. Even in a desert with no water most people will survive around 3 days, roughly the same amount of time if they are floating in the middle of the ocean.

Most people are not in paradise. It either gets too cold at night or it gets too hot during the day. Exposure can kill you faster than starvation. In the past I have been in situations where I have gone without food for about 3 days. It's not fun, to put it lightly. I can't imagine 3 weeks.

Happy to hear a shoutout to AP which seemingly is the only outline that uses emotionless, non-clickbait titles. Sure, there is bias there, but this is still a better way to get news than many other sources.
3 weeks without food assumes no food at all. Starvation takes longer in these types of conditions. It starts with the young and week, who we are already seeing dying on screen. The numbers will increase and increase significantly. And when they start going up, they will go up fast because that means we will have reached the limit for a lot of people under the actual conditions.
I am incredibly frustrated by the challenges which pre-State Arabic culture poses for coping with emergencies.
I am also well aware of how the Christians, here, in the United States are working hard (and succeeding in many states) to strip women and gay people and transgender people of their rights. Alabama is not openly returning racism.
