    Good video.
    I've seen quite a few of your videos and will be implementing a lot of your mods to the Robo 3D R1 Plus printer I recently purchased.
    Keep up the good work man!

    Dude, you are the awesomesauce, thanks for compiling these, the spool it came with is shockingly bad, and one of the wires needs to be adjusted or it'll just sit on the heated bed! That being said, I do love my Robo something fierce.

      Do you have a video of it? I'm working on making an enclosure for the printer. Do you know how I can get my Robo 3D R1 Plus to be more accurate? Also when it prints circles they come out as a polygon vs a true circle do you get the same thing? I'm not sure if its software or printer issue. I like the production in your videos btw keep it up!

    Love all your videos........ but I've been hunting for the files for those other Z stabilizers you're using where you have the base stuck to the main Robo body, but can remove the part that attaches to the Z without removing the whole thing....... do you have a link to that model somewhere ? the link you have in your description isn't the ones you're using. Thanks again for your great videos....... awesome.

    Returning my Robo 3d today, first print was okay (a couple of z axis holders, even though the opening was way too small for the rod and they were essentially unusable), after that it was nothing but one horrible print after another. Went to different forums and watched numerous videos trying to tune the thing, but it just got worse with each print. I like what you've done with yours, I just wish that I could have got mine to work.

    • @arcanum70
      @arcanum70 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I have some time before Amazon said I have to actually do the return. Right now my biggest issue is that the extruder is not working. It's not that it isn't heating up (it is), it's that the gears are not turning to extrude. I can turn them by hand, but when printing they do not work, and when a command to extrude is sent from the software it doesn't work.

    • @arcanum70
      @arcanum70 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can turn it by hand, it just doesn't extrude in a print or when the extrude button is pressed in the software.

    • @GuyWhoReviewsStuff
      @GuyWhoReviewsStuff 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      arcanum70 Your set temps must be set to at least 195 or higher for the stepper motor to engage. This is a fail safe built into the firmware. I recommend at least 200 to allow for temp drop.

    • @RoBo3DPrinter1
      @RoBo3DPrinter1 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      arcanum70 RoBo3D support is always available to help you get your printer running great. We now have a 24/7 hotline you can call. You can also schedule a 1 on 1 Skype call with a RoBo3D Tech. Every printer comes with a 6 month warranty and we will replace any parts that need it within that time.

    • @arcanum70
      @arcanum70 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      RoBo 3D Actually, I just exchanged it. And I know for a fact that (if anyone reading this is curious) that you guys are awesome when it comes to part replacement. Really enjoying the printer. Still far from being anything close to an expert. Trying to find a slicing program that I like, and that works well with the printer, but, I'm getting there and enjoying the ride.

    Let me first say i like your videos. lots of info. thanks for that. being you upgraded a lot to your printer. did you upgrade the firmware to it as well? what version are you using? i'm asking because i just bought a Robo 3D printer from a seller ( bad experience) seller (llfila9 aka Ben Delgado) be warned.... Seller claimed it only need new stepper motors but it really needed everything, i mean everything i even had to fix the casing. anyway long story short i replaced everything even the wiring. now its time for me to upload Robo 3D firmware to the arduino to run it. just need to know what version i should use to upload to the arduino? the printer is the newer model with the rod support on top of case but has the limit switch on z axis rail for x axis and not on carriage like your newer one. any help you can give would be great.
    Thankz Chaz

    Hey NE,
    I am having an issue with my printer, was wondering if you can give me some pointers.
    I am new to the whole 3D printing, bought robo R1 as an impulse. when I print small stuff, it's fine. but when I print something with about > 2-- layers, my hot end actually just knocks the print off the bed.
    another question I had was, do the new R1s still need Z stablizers? it seems like mine has two holes at the top of the plastic casing that holds the Z axis in place.

    • @nierro2664
      @nierro2664 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Novice Expert
      At this time I'VE tried everything but the glue stick. i.e. hair spray, masking tape, K tape (even tho I am currently using PLA). I tried one of them calibration cube, and the print had all sorts of things wrong with it. it's not even, lines are not straight. and it once again got knocked off after about 23~25 mm mark.
      This was when I was using blue masking tape.
      bed temp at 65
      hot end at 200
      printing PLA
      using Cura
      using canola oil.

      Novice Expert Question, I just got the e3d. and lot of people are saying I shouldn't use bowden, because you cant use soft filaments. what do you think about this. also what's the difference between bowden and PTFE tube?

      @jamescullins2709 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Novice Expert What was your reason for switching back to stock belt? I was thinking about printing one up but if there is a reason why I shouldn't , I wont. May still be a good stand by just in case

  • @Mickice
    @Mickice 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'll stick with my complete in box FlashForge Finder. Volume is small and no heated bed tho.

    • @NoviceExpertise
      @NoviceExpertise  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Mickice Looked it up, looks like a superb printer. I'm sure you could figure out how to add a heated bed to it, owners of 3D printer are inherently innovative.

    • @Mickice
      @Mickice 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed we are, the machine is a box frame but I've already placed weights on the black bass to prevent vibrations and added rubber band to the wing nuts that level the bed so it doesn't shift over print. The best feature is it'll pause a print when out of filament.

    Hey man, I've been doing some serious research and I think I want to buy the R1. I just had a few questions/concerns that I really hope you could spare some time to answer.
    1) Are you pleased with you purchase? I just REALLY don't want to waste 700 dollars.
    2) How necessary would you say those upgrades are for the printer? I would definitely be using the printer a lot and I would most certainly want the best results, it's just I'm not usually a DIY kind of person.
    3) Do you have any videos showing exactly how you set all of that stuff up? Specifically the writing things. It all looks so complicated, but given how well yours seems to work and how pleased you are with it, I would want to make mine as close to yours as possible.
    Thanks

    • @BC-yb5hb
      @BC-yb5hb 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The head that the new r1's come with...are they already able to print with other materials such as ninja flex and wood? Or would I have to upgrade it?

    • @RoBo3DPrinter1
      @RoBo3DPrinter1 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Novice Expert Brison Chu As for printing with Flexible filament you can do an easy modification with a small 22mm ptfe tube between the hobbed bolt and the entry to the hot end to prevent it from curling up. The other option is to get a 3mm all metal hex hot end and use 3mm Ninja flex since it's not delicate as the 1.75mm. Wood filament works well by with the default setup.

    Did you design all of the parts for it or did you find the files somewhere?

      +just me Sorry for the long response, but that problem is usually caused by the library being absent from the library folder. Go here: github.com/olikraus/u8glib.git and download the library and place it in the library folder of your computer.

    Thanks for posting all these videos. As a newbie to 3D printing, you have made getting up to speed a breeze. Also, I was not a fan of the spool holders shown in this video so I edited them. The improved design locks the holder in place (I learned the hard way that this was necessary after a large spool came loose and crashed down on my glass). The new design also adjusts the angle at which the spool gets drawn (so it is a smoother pull). Anywho, check it out (www.thingiverse.com/thing:1148533) and let me know what you think. Cheers!

      Ya it droops down to the point it isn't connecting.

      It's the top bridge point on the link when it tries to print the "bridge" it just collapses
