Most of these comics are, there's some tropes they can't just leave behind, like Joker scaping, inconsistent power levels, shitty heroes without superpowers being better at everything than actual SUPERheroes. I think people have to turn off the critical thinking part of the brain to enjoy the characters.

A judge could have given a rush order on the death penalty based on how horrific his crimes are. My point is Batman doesn't need to be a killer just because a reader thinks it is just. However, if you write it that means Batman lives with it. You have to understand killing is not something that Batman doesn't and can't truly do. At least if a writer understands why.
