- Today we are tackling a very simple starter on a 2014 V6 Honda Accord. The symptoms were intermittent no start. The start button had previously been replaced. It's simple enough that Joe did nearly all of it one handed while holding the camera. This job will be the same on 2013 Accord, 2014 Accord, 2015 Accord, 2016 Accord, and 2017 Accord with the 3.5 V6 engine.
Thanks man! Easy to follow and clear. Saved me 800 bucks.
Thank you so much! Just replaced it today, your video was extremely helpful 🙏
Fantastic video bro! I truly appreciate how you did this with a V6 version of this car, as there’s not too many videos on it. Kudos!!!!
Thank you for this excellent video! I particularly appreciate the clear directions, camera angles, explanations, and audio.
Thank you!
Fantastic... simple and quick. A model for my channel's restoration videos which have just been too long, LOL.
Thank you! Good luck with your channel!
Thank you thank you thank you!
Does the V6 use the same starter as the v4?Also where did you purchase your re-manufactured part?
Two questions. (1) How do you know the starter was actually "bad", meaning in what sense was it bad? I saw no testing done. (2) You did not mention there was a Technical Service Bulletin issued by Honda regarding starter problems. Did you know about this, at all?
Flywheel bolt rotation needs to be made if it hasn’t already.
Il thanks for the video I’m thinking about doing this on my 2016 Honda Accord touring 3.5lv6 but I’ve seen you replaced it without getting under the car while other videos they get under the car .. is just wondering cuz I don’t want to
That's because on the 4 cylinder, the started is buried at the bottom of the engine. The v6 models, you can access the starter from the top engine bay.
This dude didn’t dpi it right. If you want to fix the problem of the starter not engaging the flywheel properly every other start, you have to get under the car and remove the flywheel inspection cover and remove the 8 bolts attaching it to the torque converter and rotate the flywheel 1 bolt hole over. This ensures the new starter never has to deal with any of the potentially messed up entries onto the gears along the flywheel. The Engine stops in 3 determined locations on a V6 so by rotating the flywheel 1/8 you move those bad spots so the starter never hits those same things engagement zones.
When taking out the 14mm bolts do you go lefty Loosey or are they reverse threaded?
Standard thread. So lefty loosey
When you unhook your battery will you lose radio memory like you do on the older model accords?
Yes you do but you the screen shows you how to auto program the code. Can't remember how but trust me it's very very easy.
For the 2013-2017 models you just hold the power button for 2 seconds
The torque converter tsb was not performed ... it will grind again
I know the tsb. It wasn’t those conditions. This one wouldn’t do anything sometimes but was receiving B+ signal.
@@automotiveinsight i understand.. but ths problem will happen due bad tolerance and the already worn put spots
@@lars25gdl You can do the TSB rotation and still have the same starting issues in a very short time. Can only do TSB once.
@@jackbnmbl7 need a combination of tsb and latest version of statmrter from honda
Is this done before or after the starter has been replaced?
The aftermarket’s / eBay starters for around 100 bucks are terrible !!! Do not buy !
