@@thevipez8740 context bro. The woman was criticizing the soldiers for not losing anyone while lots of natives ended up dying. Rory explained that they fought from long range. If someone from the soldiers died it would have been something to commend according to the lady speaker's logic, but it would have been meaning less because a soldier's death in that battle would not have saved any extra lives, in fact less gunfire may have compromised more lives against the dragon.
Hope my explanation cleared up the quote a bit, but I wonder......Rory's words seemed perfectly clear to me.

It's awesome how Rory was able to deduce that through the questions being asked, that the military is being disrespected. The writing in this show was stellar. Rory rewording "one fourth died" to "three fourths were saved" and that brilliant punchline at the end with the ages.

One of the things about Rory Mercury that I love so much is that she isn't a lover of War. She's a priestess of it. She believes war has a place, a purpose. And this speech illustrates that so well. It's a refreshing take on being a follower of War.
Actually, if you think about it.. war is horrible but as you said it has a place, even in our world. Since the beginning of our time. War have been fought for resources and countless people have died, yet that has controlled our numbers. Now that we are living in a "peaceful" world, hunger, devastation, suffering is rampart and create even bigger problems. Wars are, in a way, a necessity

One can also get mad at soldiers for cowardice and dereliction of duty. The politician is obviously a parody, but somewhere in her long winded ramble accusation is that the civilian lives that were lost were sacrificed to protect the soldiers, which is the opposite of the civilian/soldier roles.

I doubt the western audience caught it, but this anime has some great slaps at Japanese politicians. This one in particular makes fun of the head of the Japanese Socialist Party, whose only talent in real life seems to be to attack Japan and bow down to Korea and China.

God this show needs to continue. One of the more unique anime iv seen, and really nothing quite gets up there with it.
Action, fantasy, sci-fi, slight harem, politics, Isekai, mixed in with alright writing, characters you remember, and effective timeline setting progression.

If such a thing happened in our reality, the views would pass the 6 digits easily.
