I would understand that if it weren't for the fact that they're are obviously trying to bring deep lore into this anime. With its interconnection of the worlds and how magic came to be and what not. The guy goes around during the vampire arc repeating the same corny line, then proceeds to loot the tower with such focus his sister and subordinates almost get clapped 🤣. ALPHA WILLING TO GO EVIL IN HER EYES FOR CID. completley showcases her loyalty and love for him. Best part is her trying to understand his actions. Plus her immense depression and unwant to do anything or even live anymore beleiving cid really turned evil and abandoned shadow garden.
Cid battlestyle is always impressive. He always use different type of fighting style when he fighting different type of enemy in different arc. From the typical sword fight to hand-to-hand combat, to sniper when the enemy invade his school and now he using the wire.
I can't believe they got Jun Fukuyama (Lelouch VA) to voice a gag character called John Smith for like 3-4 episodes. He's one of the most expensive male VA's to hire in Japanese media.

I wish they didn't change up so many of the scenes on this season. I know they were strapped for time because they only greenlit 12 episodes but they should have greenlit more because the novel and manga version of this fight was better and longer. They would fight and she thinks she got a hit in only to realize she missed but should couldn't understand why, after a few more times she notices that hes moving just barely a hairs width each time and then realizes that he fights the same as shadow. Still relatively the same but there are some scenes in the book and manga that just did better than what they put in the anime. **EDIT** - Also in the anime, he gets hit a few times and ends the fight. In the book and manga, she was able to scratch his face and before walking away he says to her "you have gotten stronger."
tbh adding those scenes barely takes any extra time if they thought it was important. which means the producers didn't think it was important and decided to cut it out

He uses a pair of crowbars for at least part of the the fight against Iris and Beatrix. It's one of the reasons why the Magic Slime is likely his favorite weapon. It can be anything he can visualize, and therefore, any weapon he wants or can use is at his disposal at any time. Hell, he used his fists against Zenon just to prove a point. Basing your entire sense of power on a tool is idiotic. In Zenon's case, it was the pills. Shadow just knocked him around with martial arts, and occasionally blocked a sword with the slime.
I was just scrolling when i saw this. Bruh its been a year and this scene still broke me, the execution was perfect and all but turning his back on alpha broke me on my knees.
This whole scene reminds me of this one anime where the MC is a super anime fan and quotes anime all the time and his best friend loves him but can never understand his references even though she genuinely wants to. Theres an incredibly beautiful scene in one of the episodes where she says she wants to understand all these things, but she just cant.
This scene is actually heartbreaking, I saw this episode myself, (The blonde haired woman "Alpha" is his servant and rn he's pretending to be the enemy, the other girl mentioned "Delta" is his other servant who he sent on another mission. Alpha thinks he's abandoned them and unalived Delta.

In the manga, I found it more exciting. I think the emotions were very good there, how strong Alpha is and how Cid reacts to everything. In the anime it was a little weak and unemotional in comparison. It's just my vision.
The manga emphasize the emotions more since it's hard to make an omnipotent being fight a lower power, without it last too long or ended too quick, and the text need to accomodate in the pages too, and that took a lot of spaces. The anime can focus on both at the same time thanks to voice acting but the emotions from Alpha can only be shown through her expressions, and words, while the anime have to had the overbearing effects going all over the place. It cut the screen times of characters exchanging thoughts. Overall, this part is great animate showing shadow's overwhelming power and Alpha 5 stages of grief, and her desperation for answer.

really?.. because all of the comments talking about the manga i went there to read it but... honestly the expression of pain, sadness and so on were so superficial... delta's fight was non-existent... she just went through the lines and thats it. Also, in the anime what was left of Delta not being just a pile of her fur but her broken necklace was much more convincing.... and when alpha received the news, in manga it seemed like she accepted the situation very quickly.. in the anime her expressionless face exuded much more emotion. Even more, her not having time to mourn or make a detailed plan because of the news of what was happening with the bills and the urgency to catch the train before it arrives at it destination was much more realistic instead of what happened in the manga... "I now realize what kind of man John Smith is!!!", so goofy.. In general, especially in her fight against Cid, the development seemed much longer and more detailed. In the manga she just starts crying and humiliating herself, in the anime she seems genuinely angry and desperate. She explained much more in depth what she is feeling and why she is feeling that in the anime, and even so, Cid appeared to be much more cold and indifferent, not complimenting her like in the manga. I really didn't see anything that was better in the manga, regardless of what y'all mentioned.

The difference here is that in that scene, the girl was 100% at fault since she was ultimately just salty that the MC bonded with another girl who understood him immediately and easily instead of her who always silently liked him yet didn't understand him but just expected to win because she was there first.

An anime girl gets hurt and suddenly everyone starts hating Cid. People forget he was always this narcissistic emotionally dismissive guy who never stops to think about anyone but himself. He saved Alpha because he wanted to experiment on her body. The Shadow Garden started as an organization because he felt like playing the villain, not because he cared about anyone other than himself. He is an absolute asshole from start to finish, but people have a problem with it only when he hurts the precious blonde.
Most of time it's played off in comedy or coolness, so people don't realise how much of an asshole Cid is, but the novel is a lot of times so insufferable because of him that i stopped reading it altogether

And how she treasure the memories of her simple daily life back then. In the light novel, they put these scene is different volume. Idk why though.

People who dismiss this as "just a parody no deep meaning" are deliberately closing their eyes to all the deep meaning being practically shoved in their faces.
I would understand that if it weren't for the fact that they're are obviously trying to bring deep lore into this anime. With its interconnection of the worlds and how magic came to be and what not. So yeah, I think it's perfectly reasonable to dislike this mc for his insufferable action throughout the show.

However after getting to the tournament arc, realized that the authors just making a parody. The world is whatever Shadow wants it to be, because whatever dumbshit he makes up tends to be 100% true. The guy goes around during the vampire arc repeating the same corny line, then proceeds to loot the tower with such focus his sister and subordinates almost get clapped 🤣. Then at the end she begins talking about a power in her arm, Cid concluding she's finally entering her own chunibyo faze, even the way she talks about it comes off as a meme lol.

Cid battlestyle is always impressive. He always use different type of fighting style when he fighting different type of enemy in different arc. From the typical sword fight to hand-to-hand combat, to sniper when the enemy invade his school and now he using the wire.

I wish they didn't change up so many of the scenes on this season. I know they were strapped for time because they only greenlit 12 episodes but they should have greenlit more because the novel and manga version of this fight was better and longer. They would fight and she thinks she got a hit in only to realize she missed but should couldn't understand why, after a few more times she notices that hes moving just barely a hairs width each time and then realizes that he fights the same as shadow. Still relatively the same but there are some scenes in the book and manga that just did better than what they put in the anime.
**EDIT** - Also in the anime, he gets hit a few times and ends the fight. In the book and manga, she was able to scratch his face and before walking away he says to her "you have gotten stronger."

He uses a pair of crowbars for at least part of the the fight against Iris and Beatrix. It's one of the reasons why the Magic Slime is likely his favorite weapon. It can be anything he can visualize, and therefore, any weapon he wants or can use is at his disposal at any time.
Hell, he used his fists against Zenon just to prove a point. Basing your entire sense of power on a tool is idiotic. In Zenon's case, it was the pills. Shadow just knocked him around with martial arts, and occasionally blocked a sword with the slime.

I was just scrolling when i saw this. Bruh its been a year and this scene still broke me, the execution was perfect and all but turning his back on alpha broke me on my knees.
This whole scene reminds me of this one anime where the MC is a super anime fan and quotes anime all the time and his best friend loves him but can never understand his references even though she genuinely wants to. Theres an incredibly beautiful scene in one of the episodes where she says she wants to understand all these things, but she just cant.

In the manga, I found it more exciting. I think the emotions were very good there, how strong Alpha is and how Cid reacts to everything. In the anime it was a little weak and unemotional in comparison. It's just my vision.
The manga emphasize the emotions more since it's hard to make an omnipotent being fight a lower power, without it last too long or ended too quick, and the text need to accomodate in the pages too, and that took a lot of spaces. The anime can focus on both at the same time thanks to voice acting but the emotions from Alpha can only be shown through her expressions, and words, while the anime have to had the overbearing effects going all over the place. It cut the screen times of characters exchanging thoughts. Overall, this part is great animate showing shadow's overwhelming power and Alpha 5 stages of grief, and her desperation for answer.

Overall, in my opinion, the manga managed to deliver everything it should, Cid's power, Alpha's power, the difference between them, and even though the difference is very big, you can still see that Alpha is strong, just like Cid himself. it says. In the anime it seemed like Alpha wasn't even strong. It may be my own perception, but I didn't think the animation in the anime was that good.

really?.. because all of the comments talking about the manga i went there to read it but... honestly the expression of pain, sadness and so on were so superficial... delta's fight was non-existent... she just went through the lines and thats it. Also, in the anime what was left of Delta not being just a pile of her fur but her broken necklace was much more convincing.... and when alpha received the news, in manga it seemed like she accepted the situation very quickly.. in the anime her expressionless face exuded much more emotion. Even more, her not having time to mourn or make a detailed plan because of the news of what was happening with the bills and the urgency to catch the train before it arrives at it destination was much more realistic instead of what happened in the manga... "I now realize what kind of man John Smith is!!!", so goofy.. In general, especially in her fight against Cid, the development seemed much longer and more detailed. In the manga she just starts crying and humiliating herself, in the anime she seems genuinely angry and desperate. She explained much more in depth what she is feeling and why she is feeling that in the anime, and even so, Cid appeared to be much more cold and indifferent, not complimenting her like in the manga. I really didn't see anything that was better in the manga, regardless of what y'all mentioned.

The difference here is that in that scene, the girl was 100% at fault since she was ultimately just salty that the MC bonded with another girl who understood him immediately and easily instead of her who always silently liked him yet didn't understand him but just expected to win because she was there first.

Maybe at some point but to get to this point it seems we must suffer. It is one of the major drawbacks off the series for me. Shadow had the cult basically thrown in his face including tons of very strong foes who all talked about the cult and still thinks it is not real.

He already explained why he hasn't realized. Cid never gave a shit if the cult was real. He's never looked into things, he doesn't know anything, he just got really strong and has some vague sense of what to be as a person that I don't think we've had explained to us beyond overcoming atomic bombs. Cid felt vaguely guilty about the girls but he thought his story was so absurd and outlandish that they already know he's just playing into a fantasy and are just going with it. This isn't someone looking to do anything with the world, he's a mentally unstable teenager with way too much power trying to act out the edgy fantasies not realizing or caring if they're real or not,

How she and cid life together in the forest. Since cid cna only come at night she looks forward to night time everytime. They build a wooden house together. Then beta join. Gamma and delta join. Then epsilon, zeta and eta. And how she treasure the memories of her simple daily life back then.
In the light novel, they put these scene is different volume. Idk why though.
