I’d actually love to see a live action adaptation Of gate. I wouldn’t even be oppose if it’s one of those live action adaptation when they set it in the US. In fact that would make more sense politically. I don’t see the self defense force being an invading force.
The anime is extremely pro japanese militarist movement. They have some fun quoting American war movies, but they also shit on American soldiers a lot. In the Anime, they justify invading the area by declaring it a special zone of Japan, because the gate is within Japanese borders. That makes it a domestic military issue, so that Japan can use the SDF. If they acknowledged that it was a foreign issue, they'd be forced to defer to US military policy, because the WWII surrender conditions still exist that make Japan a military protectorate of the US and prevent them from having a standing army or engaging in foreign warfare. (This treaty is a serious sore spot for the writer, which is why he goes so far out of his way to portray the JSDF as infallible and Americans as corrupt and inferior.) They secure UN support for this declaration because everyone hates America, and the Japanese spokesperson says that unlike China, Russia, and America, Japan has never committed an atrocity in its history.
@@joffrecordan Of course that Japanese spokesperson couldn't be more wrong. Japan has definitely committed their fair share of atrocities. Their history is steeped in blood.

it shoots stick of wood and you called it "AA weapon"

ballista mounted on walls used to take out flying targets like dragons? yeah, that's an AA weapon. a primitive one, but it's an accurate statement.
Never underestimate an opponent. Ya gotta treat everything like a credible threat on a battlefield. It's just part of their combat training.

you would be suprised seeing ballista spear going through your cockpit and stopping on engine. and it was pointed to the sky+they have dragons so its natural to have something against them

I’d actually love to see a live action adaptation Of gate. I wouldn’t even be oppose if it’s one of those live action adaptation when they set it in the US. In fact that would make more sense politically. I don’t see the self defense force being an invading force.
I really wouldn't call their actions as an invasion
No no life action anime and manga adaptation never goes well
The anime is extremely pro japanese militarist movement.
@@dreyone6156 Of course. The author of Gate is a hardcore ultranationalist. The entire series is a vehicle for his political views, which were toned down for the manga, which was then toned down further for the anime. They reference Apocalypse Now but do so in a tone-deaf sort of way, like the movie's anti-war subtext wasn't in it.
