    🔹INGREDIENTS:
    ▢1½ cups (180 g) all purpose flour
    ▢¾ tsp baking soda
    ▢1½ tsps baking powder
    ▢½ tsp salt
    ▢¾ cup (75 g) unsweetened cocoa powder - Use Dutch-processed cocoa powder for a deep color to your muffins like mine
    ▢2 tsps instant coffee powder - you can use 2/3 cup of fresh brewed coffee in replacement of the instant coffee powder and hot water.
    ▢⅔ cup (150 g) hot water
    ▢1 cup (200 g) soft light brown sugar
    ▢½ cup (105 g) unflavored vegetable oil - I use canola oil
    ▢2 tsps vanilla essence/extract
    ▢¾ cup (180 g) sour cream - room temperature, you can use yoghurt as a substitute (see note 1 on blog post)
    ▢1 large egg - room temperature
    ▢1¾ cups (300 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

    Okay…SO! Guys this is so worth the effort. It’s barely any effort honestly. I ended up making soooo many substitutions because I was craving something sweet and made this on a whim before checking if I actually had all the ingredients😅 I substituted half the oil with melted butter, only had 3/4 the amount of cocoa powder, I only had about 1/4 of the amount of chocolate, I used low fat yogurt mixed with milk instead of the sour cream, and I used white sugar instead of brown. And you know what?! It still tasted AMAAAAZING! The fact that it came out so good after all my changes is just so cool! That’s how I knew MK was a legend. 1000/10!! 😅❤️

    So i just finished making my chocolate muffin and woow 🤤🤤🤤 it came out wonderful💃💃💃💃. Although i didn't have vanilla and sour cream/yoghurt at home and i reduced the quantity of my white sugar as I didn't have brown sugar at home, it still came out beautifully well i wish i could attach a picture 😁😍🤤🤤.
    I just added some powdered milk as i didn't have the cream or yoghurt. Thank you so much. Your recipes are the best 😍😍

      You're so welcome! :) I haven't tried any other substitutes myself but you could maybe try buttermillk - although this will give you a more delicate crumb more like a cupcake :)

    Hi maryam. So excited about trying this recipe. I loveeeeddddd your brownie recipe so I am definitely gonna try it soon. However, I have a question, and as stupid as it may sound, plz accept my sincerest apology in advance😅. As a nocie i wanna know the basic difference between muffin and brownie or cake. I am aware of the shape but what I am trying to ask is if I can use the muffin recipe and increat of baking them in muffin tray can i bake them in a simple tray/cotainer that I use for baking cake or brownies?? Thanks

      Hi Shagufta! :) So so happy to hear you loved the brownie recipe!
      And not a stupid question at all :) so there are a few key differences, though they can overlap sometimes depending on the type of each particular thing (cake or muffin) you want. So generally muffins are a bit more dense/less fluffy, rise tall and don't typically have frosting. They're also made using the muffin method (combining dry and wet ingredients separately then adding them together - this method makes for a denser batter). Some denser cakes are also made using the muffin method too (like carrot cake). The only thing you have to be careful of when turning a muffin recipe into a cake, is whether the batter will hold/rise the same as muffins do. Cupcakes on the other hand are basically mini cakes so they're generally fluffier/lighter and are frosted. You can basically turn any cake recipe into cupcakes you just need to reduce the cooking time :)

    Made them today n ohhh they r irresistible literally sooo soft n moist but here in Pakistan its so hot the temp is 42.
    My batter was lil thin than yrs n my chocolate chips settled at the bottom making the bottom fudgier.
    Can u tell me the reason or any tip to avoid it.

      Aww yay! So so happy to hear you loved them :D so the only ingredients used in the recipe that would be a dif consistency in a hotter temp would be the sour cream and eggs, though I don't think it should affect the thickness of the batter too much. If you used cup measurements, then it could be because a little too much water or oil was used, or not enough flour. For best results I would recommend using a scale if possible. You could try coating the chocolate chips in a little flour and this may prevent them from sinking to the bottom :) hope that helps for next time!

      Though muffins aren't typically frosted, you still could use any frosting really! Buttercream would work well, though due to the denser nature of muffins a lighter frosting may be preferred like a whipped cream :)

      Hmmm good question! I'm not too sure about that sorry as I haven't baked with it before. If it usually works well as a 1:1 substitute for brown sugar then it should be okay :)

    I made these today and only baked them for 20 mins (exactly) and they were crusty on the parts that were in the cupcake liner. I use foil liners. Could that be why, you think? Maybe they got too hot? Maybe I should have lowered my oven temp a little. Used conventional at 375.

      Hi Michele! :) Hmm by crusty do you mean hard (like slightly overbaked)? If so, then it's likely that your oven may run a little hotter than mine so you just need to reduce the cook time or lower the oven temp slightly :)

    I tried your recipe today
    I don't know where I have got mistaken although I followed exactly the recipe you mentioned but as soon as I mixed wet ingredients with dry it got really thick and sticky texture
    I still bakes Alhamdulillah they look fine after baking but my batter was thick not very loose as it looks yours

      Wassalaam! :) Thank you so much for trying the recipe but so sorry to hear the batter turned out very thick! This is likely due to too much flour or cocoa powder in the batter, or not enough water/oil. For best results I would recommend using the gram measurements :)

    Why bake it on 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes when you can just bake it on 9,375 degrees Fahrenheit for 1 minute.

      Either flax eggs: 1Tbs ground flaxseed in 2.5-3Tbs water, let sit about five mins;
      Or aquafaba (the liquid in a can of chickpeas);
      Or JustEgg.
