Yes .... I always wear flat shoes. In summer I love my dad sandals in black, my Birkis in gold, my Melvin and Hamiltons also in gold but really elegant, my leather flipflops from Hilfinger, my light purple sneakers from nike made from a very light mash material. German here. I remember traveling to France in the 90s wearing Birkenstocks - the French clearly were not overly enthused about my german chic 😂 So, I find it a bit funny that all of a sudden everyone starts to wear Birkenstocks, even the good old models from the 90s.
I love my Birkenstocks, ballet flats, sandals and sneakers but flip flops are an absolute no for me. I have wide feet and a large bone spur on one heel, so I have a hard time finding comfortable shoes.
I have bunions, too, and have been searching for weeks for comfortable walking shows - your video is well timed! Have you tried Vionics? They're very supportive and they have a few cute styles. I take the insoles out and use them in other shoes, too. I love the cute little sandals you wore in Rome! Always enjoy your videos, thanks!
I find Dr Martens the best shoes ever. I wore a pair day after day all through Europe, to the theatre, out to dinner and just walking everywhere! My feet were very happy.
I, too, have bunions, not horrible, but just beginning and I’m trying to keep them from getting worse. I love my Birkenstocks and my Finns. I don’t have a comfortable pair of sneakers/walking shoes yet, but I’m looking and I’ve heard getting a shoe with a larger toe box helps. Can anyone confirm this? Or have other ideas?

I loved this video! I’m 70 and have a hammer toe on my foot. It has limited the shoes I can wear in the summer. I have to wear no show socks with slip on sandals so I can wear a toe separator. I wear quality sneakers and Oofah slides. Any other suggestions?

I worked in footwear for quite some time... I'd like to pass on some tips for when you are buying footwear: 1) NEVER go shoe-shopping in the morning! ALWAYS go in the afternoon... the later, the better. Why? Because everyone's feet swell as the day goes on, from walking around... so if you buy the "perfect" shoe in the morning, it may pinch and hurt by the end of the day. Stick to buying in the afternoon, so you can then be sure the shoes will be comfortable all day long. 2) If the shoes are NOT made of leather, they will NOT stretch or "give" or "become more comfortable" as you wear them. If a salesperson tells you this, IGNORE them! They are just trying to make a sale. It is NOT true. Leather shoes WILL stretch or "give" a little... however, be mindful of WHERE the shoe is hurting you. Why? Because whilst it is true that leather shoes will stretch & "give" a little, the only place where that will occur is at the widest part of your toe/foot area (that's because that part of the shoe is always bending when you walk). If the shoe is pinching or hurting or rubbing ANYWHERE else, that part will NOT stretch. Again, if a salesperson tells you that, walk away. 3) if you are thinking of putting orthotics or liners or arch support things inside the shoes (as Frederique suggested - great idea, by the way!), BRING THEM WITH YOU! There is nothing worse than buying a great pair of shoes, only to find that once you insert the lining or arch support, they no-longer fit. I learned that the hard way! 4) Half-sizes in shoes make the shoes slightly LONGER, but NOT wider. Most shoes are what is known as a "B" fitting. This is standard. For a WIDER shoe, you need to go to the next LETTER up (i.e. a "C" fitting... think of "C" for "comfort"). In some instances, you can even get D, E, etc., for an even wider fit. But those wider fittings are generally a bit harder to find. The only brand that immediately comes to my mind is Clark's, but I am sure there are others. Anyway, I hope that helps all the lovely ladies out there. There is nothing that annoys me more than hearing a salesperson lie to a customer, just to get a sale!
