I have the time and motivation. Sorry to hear about your dislike for oversize white shirts. 😉I bought a gorgeous one only yesterday. I love Polo shirts (collared knit tops). I Googled and Googled them until they finally came back in style. I think they’re so much more chic, fresher and more flattering than a tired old crew-neck t-shirt, but are just as comfortable. The classic, pointed collar and (unbuttoned) V-neck add some flattering angles near the face. I just got two in silk jersey, one white and one black. What chic and blissfully comfy basic tops they are! I wish I could find these in long-sleeved versions for wearing under winter sweaters, too. (I always wear a silk, long-sleeved t-shirt under my winter sweaters because of my sensitive skin).
Fabulously helpful! Thank you! Love your channel!! I'm in Oz and have used M&S for a long time. I now don't have to PAY to have my pants/trousers taken up as they have a choice of lengths! They also usually deliver within 5 days! It can be a bit restricting because they won't let us have Autograph!!! GRRR! But I manage and I particularly like their knitwear. Have always only ever worn M&S undies and nightwear. Australians import most of their stuff from China and hence we are all supposed to have figures like Chinese women!!!! I'm a small curvy English girl so I have really struggled with clothing...for the last 40 years. SO frustrating! Even more reasons why I love your posts....eagerly await the next one! Love and thanks, from OZ. xxxxxxxx
Hi Maureen, thank you so much for your lovely comment. I love Australia. I did try to add pieces that were available elsewhere in this post. It is a shame that you can not get autograph. Take a look at Boody for lingerie too they are Australian and VERY comfortable!
Love that you're not like some on TH-cam who want you to give up simple t shirt looks and want your hair and your clothes to be "approved by them" ... Having said that I HATE polo shirts. 😂 (Not your fault that they're in style)
Love this channel! Question: I’m 61, 5’1.5”. Used to be hourglass, now have a tummy/ carry my extra pounds in my midsection (thank you DNA). I love to look current but I want your opinion on the whole “quarter-tuck” or partial-tuck business for looser tops/ button-downs. I feel if I do a center tuck, it’s right smack in the middle where I don’t need any more bulk/ protrusion. If it’s an off to the side side partial tuck it’s better, BUT it’s still extra fabric in folds/etc around the tuck, again adding bulk where I don’t want it. Maybe this whole casual partial-tuck game isn’t for me? Thanks for weighing in!
Hi Carol. this is a great question thank you. So if I am honest I am not a big fan of these types of tucks. They do not work for everyone as it appears you have found out. So the only way I think this can work is if you flatten the excess fabric by holding the fabric out at the side seam and folding it back on itself towards the back then do the same equally on the other side. That will take away any excess fabric as long as it sits flat to your body. Ideally it sounds as if you would be better off with tops that skim your body rather than sit lose. I hope that makes sense.

Very true ! I fluctuate around five pounds, so I don’t have several sizes in my closet. At 67 I don’t want to dress old, I prefer the trendy yet classic looks.
New subscriber here. Thank you so much, absolutely love your channel, everything you talk about resonates with me. I've been culling my wardrobe this past year and find it much easier to have fewer options that I'm happy with.
I have an apple shape with absolutely no hips, no defined waist and no “bottom” (flat)!! I have a tummy. Skinny jeans do not flatter me at all, however, I do like the wide leg trousers/jeans as they seem to give me more proportion at the bottom. What other types of slacks should I look for? Also, should I wear shirts tucked in or out as I have no defined waist?
Hi Rochelle, So I would have advised the wide leg or straight leg. Do tuck in, or have tops that finish at the top hip no lower but dont tuck in if there is lots of excess material.
@@rochellemoody1864 it sounds like you are describing me! Except I am only 5ft tall. It is very difficult to find clothes that fit but are in proportion.
Hello! I’ve just subscribed to your channel ☺️ being one of those women who have so many clothes and feeling like I don’t have anything to wear. I keep things ‘just in case’ and sometimes feel brave enough to give lots to charity but then I buy something and the clutter starts again! Love the ideas for outfits you have put together and this will be a start in the right direction for me 🤞🏻👋🏻🇬🇧
As a petite with a 65h bust, i disagree on the White cotton shirt. If it does not drape well, i look totally owerwhelmed amd boxy. Tailored dos not leave room for the girls, if i go a size up, shoulders are too wide, arms too long.
Exactly! Find a good tailor and make friends with them! Buy bigger, tailor down. You could spend $15 on a shirt that could look so expensive with the right tailoring! Also, if it’s a good tailor, listen to them - there are times I sure wish I had…🥲
New sub. Fellow stylist. I'm 63. Really great advice. My pet peeve is the VPL (or any visible underwear) that isn't a corset or sports bra. Another easy fix is to update your reading glasses and haircut. Oh, and for goodness sake, exfoliate your feet! I just scored a great white linen/cotton dress for $50 (The Iconic) that sells in Nordstrom's for over $200! (AU). I would estimate that over 80% of my wardrobe is from an Op shop... And I find a lot of designer stuff. Recently found Adidas Gazelles for $4!!
@@capsuleclosetstylist Way before 'Stylists' were a thing, I used to advise women in adjacent dressing rooms, in-store. 😁 I'd run and grab shoes & accessories for them to match... It's a passion.
Timeless fashion....But! Have a bit of fun!! One cool thing I learned is.....long over short, short over long. Colour is critical for taking up abit of space. White goes with EVERYTHING. Shop in the men's department..... you'll save $$😊
Have you had your colours done before? This is very common for colours to not feel right anymore. Try this video it explains a lot in this area th-cam.com/video/RgDpyjkEa_Q/w-d-xo.html
I went to my favorites--turquoise, aqua and darker pinks. I wear black or navy and use these colors as neck scarves and polo shirts. These were great on my ghostly white skin and my really dark hair when I was young, and they're even better now. I avoid grays and beiges. I'm 73 and still get so many compliments on the colors I wear near my face and hair.
Hi, could you tell me which brand makes the jeans shown in these images? Those might actually work for me, I have narrow hips, skinny legs and “no bottom”. I’m 64, but never in the last 50 years found a pair of jeans that fits reasonably well for my less-common body shape. My straight, narrow shape lacks waist definition, even though I’m slender. All jeans and trousers are at least 6 to 8 inches too big in the hips and thighs if I size them so that they can close at the waist, which is a must. They look ridiculous, like clown pants, and can’t be taken in where needed. Thanks!🙂
Hi Kimberly So there are a pair from Mavi Jeans from Nordstrom - rstyle.me/+nwzWCGgYFgD_k3VSR91yMw. and I also included some from White Stuff though it looks like they have currently sold out!
@@kimberlyperrotis8962 I have the exact same body type. Mavi jeans are great as well as Gap. A lot of Gap jeans still have the tiniest bit of stretch that helps around the waist.

Hi, I really appreciate your content! I tried to order from Marks and Spencer but was referred to their international website for Switzerland. There, however, the white dress I would have liked to order was not available.:-(
This always happens to me here in the US. M&S websites for each country outside of Britain offer only a tiny fraction of what’s available in the UK. I never had a successful link to an item featured on UK-based YT videos, we just can’t get them without ordering through the UK website and using a mail forwarding service, I suppose. It’s a shame.🙂
I have just looked and it does look like it is not available which dress was it you liked? Was it the one with the bows on the sleeves or the one with the belted waist? A great place to find white cotton buttoned down shirt is a goodwill shops. I bought two brook brothers shirts at $13.00 each. Yes, they are men’s shirts but so what. My hubby and I will share them. Thanks for the great tips.
Interesting…….at 61 I’m in love with my boxy oversized white blouses. I also finally realized I don’t like high waisted pants either. I feel like I’m being swallowed up by them. I saw myself on film and my impression was right. I don’t have any excess weight. Rather thin, stick straight figured. I’ve decided I’ll never really “dress my age”. I’m good with it. 😂
Apologies I didn't have time to list to the whole of this video but I looked quickly at the options. eg pants and shirts. High waisted pants I find make my stomach pop out under the waiste. Also they're shows with long shirts...long shirts with wide pants don't really go so how would you wear the long shirts over the pants? ps I'm small and thin with nothing to complain about but just wondering. I usually have to do a half tuck as don't like tucking the whole thing in. Makes my bum look too long!
Hello thank you for taking the time to comment. I think it is more how the flat lays look than anything else they are not particularly long. That said if you are petite I would look at petite brands to avoid too much fabric. In regards to high-waisted, without seeing you it is hard for me to give you accurate advice, but I would say that if it is a tailored fitted waist rather than anything with pleats or gathering you should be ok. In regards to tucking if a top is lose have you tried folding both sides back on themselves towards the back at the side seams?
@@capsuleclosetstylist Thank you so much for your reply! I didn't really expect a reply so what a lovely surprise. Not too sure what you mean by folding both sides back or how that would stay in place but I'll definitely check out more stuff on your chanel and subscribe. Love from Australia xo
Ah I love Australia! So if you hold both sides of your top at the side seams and then fold a flap, flat and backwards towards you back on either side. Does that make sense?
It would be so much better to see the clothes worn on a model. Perhaps you could wear them to show off the look. It would all come together then. I would love to see the clothes on you
Thank you for the feedback. I agree and where possible `i do demonstrate. The problem I have is that when I do sometimes people tell me that they want to see it on people with more shapely figures so it is tricky. But thank you though I take this on board 😊
I see pictures of the pieces of an outfit all the time, but not ideas on how to style them. For instance, the white shirt. It would be helpful for someone like me to see those styled.
This is tricky. Often a high-waisted on a short waist body is hard. It is hard to give advice not knowing what shape you are, but of high waisted does not work try one block colour.
@@capsuleclosetstylist Thanks! I am lucky to have long legs and an athletic body shape (upside down triangle). Found a pair of sailor style high waisted jeans with an elastic waistband that might work as I love that look. May try them...
I didn't like any of your choices! Certainly not a white dress, high-waisted trousers, a white shirt, a striped shirt. All boring. I love the casual bohemian styles which are colourful and exciting! In fact my entire wardrobe is casual bohemian and I love it! People have also said they've liked what I wear! The outfits you recommended remind of office styles!
I tend to stick to classics. Straight leg trousers or a slight boot cut. I avoid skinny or wide legs. High rise with a minimal waist band. Trousers tend to be black, navy, dark forest green or darker burgundy. Tops tend to be longer...cover my bottom or tunic length. They tend to be tonal solids or geometric non-prints in 3/4 or elbow sleeve.

@MO-xu7mj No I beleive that you have to like it or it will not work. Ignore the Polo shirts haha. What do you prefer T shirts?
I also do not care for polo shirts!! The collar is so irritating to me- I prefer a nice t-shirt
That does make sense & thank you!❤
You are welcome
Try to tuck it on the back
I like the tuck, but not with jumpers. I flatten as much as I can, and tuck it in my undies.
Good shoes, good bag and a good silk scarf.
Perfect accessories!

Very true ! I fluctuate around five pounds, so I don’t have several sizes in my closet. At 67 I don’t want to dress old, I prefer the trendy yet classic looks.
It sounds as if you have this nailed. If your weight fluctuates you need more options.

@bieuxyongson Ah I am glad you found it helpful. It sounds as if you are doing it right then!
@karenmcgeoch8433 Thank you for the comment I am glad you found it helpful.
As a petite with a 65h bust, i disagree on the White cotton shirt. If it does not drape well, i look totally owerwhelmed amd boxy. Tailored dos not leave room for the girls, if i go a size up, shoulders are too wide, arms too long.
In this instance I would buy it to fit up top and have it taken in slightly below your bust. Shout if you need my help. 😊
@@dortek882 take it to a tailor
@hagbagslayer5799 I agree if it is in your budget it is the best way.
Exactly! Find a good tailor and make friends with them! Buy bigger, tailor down. You could spend $15 on a shirt that could look so expensive with the right tailoring! Also, if it’s a good tailor, listen to them - there are times I sure wish I had…🥲

I just scored a great white linen/cotton dress for $50 (The Iconic) that sells in Nordstrom's for over $200! (AU).

I’m embracing my grey. Been six months. The colours that used to look nice don’t always look so good now. Not sure about that ?
Have you had your colours done before? This is very common for colours to not feel right anymore. Try this video it explains a lot in this area th-cam.com/video/RgDpyjkEa_Q/w-d-xo.html
I had the same problem. I found 'cool' colours suit me best.
Yes it can change check out my video all about this here th-cam.com/video/RgDpyjkEa_Q/w-d-xo.html
@mt.shasta6097 It sounds as if you have an excellent understanding of colours that work for you.

Hi June thank you for your comment I’m glad you enjoyed it ❤️
Hi, could you tell me which brand makes the jeans shown in these images?
The other one that works is NYDJ but be sure to SIZE DOWN
I'm bumless/hipless too. 😁 My Levi Slim 712's fit well.
Liu Jo an Italian brand fit me perfectly and I'm the same shape as you.

@jenniestacy1466 Thank you where are you from?
Interesting…….at 61 I’m in love with my boxy oversized white blouses. I also finally realized I don’t like high waisted pants either. I feel like I’m being swallowed up by them. I saw myself on film and my impression was right. I don’t have any excess weight. Rather thin, stick straight figured. I’ve decided I’ll never really “dress my age”. I’m good with it. 😂
HI Marie, You should definitely wear what works for you. The main thing is that you feel good in what you wear 😊
I have to cleanmy clothes closet. But I think everyone should do this and I donate things
@gailfairweather1515 I dod think it feels better when you do. Take your time with it though, it should not be rushed.
@@capsuleclosetstylist Thanks but how does it stay in place? Do I tuck it in?
yes fold it back at eaither side and tuck it in flat
It would be so much better to see the clothes worn on a model. Perhaps you could wear them to show off the look. It would all come together then. I would love to see the clothes on you
Thank you for the feedback. I agree and where possible `i do demonstrate. The problem I have is that when I do sometimes people tell me that they want to see it on people with more shapely figures so it is tricky. But thank you though I take this on board 😊

Hi Melodie Thank you for the comment.
how can someone with no waist wear high waisted trousers/jeans? Is the waist fits, the hips are huge on me!
@mindbodyhome102 let me know how you get on. They sound great I have some like that.

Please remember Canadians also call trousers " pants". We do not all live in America. But we do ALL live in North America.😅
Yes! It is hard when you are talking to the whole world. I can never get is completely right!
