Scotty, you are remiss in your comparison. A Fully Loaded Palisade (which still doesn't approach the MDX in luxury and definitely not close in Hp/Torque of the Type S) is no $41K. That''s for Base Model. A Fully Loaded Premium Plus (or whatever they call it now) is approaching $62K (with their ridiculous Mark ups).
Bought a 2021 MDX with 35000 miles on it for about 35K from Acura dealership. Certified used by Acura. Has warranty and bought additional warranty - we keep our vehicles for the long run. Love it! My other vehicle is a 2004 Lexus LS430 with less than 35K miles on it - love that vehicle, too.
Insider tip.. change your fluids at 50% of suggested life and keep up with the 100k mile timing belt / water pump / idler changes. Doing so... we have 600k mile plus experiences. Shalom
I think Ill go with the Mazda CX70. its 25K less expensive, and the interior is just as nice. the engine is also under rated, that inline 6 is freaking smooth.
I love the newer MDXs. I bought a used 2005 in 2015. It had 115k and I paid $10k cash. It was a great car but because of its size (was super tall and felt like it leaned when I drove) I didn't drive it as much as I had initially planned. After 2 years and 8k mi, I sold it to my dad and grabbed a 2013 Accord. Dad still has it and at 205k mi it's still going strong, and for pushing 20 it still looks great. I am hoping to grab a newer used model. The newer ones aren't as monstrous as the older ones and I feel I would use it more if it's not so intimidating to drive.
So funny. The "monstrous" stance is what I miss about my '08. I'm waiting to get a '22 type s advanced, but for now I'm in a '23 honda passport, which is the closest thing to my '08 mdx at the time I was looking, for a price I was willing to pay. Love MDX!!!
I got a new mini 2 door hard top as a loaner while my car gets fixed. I asked if it had a cvt. The dealer said "no we dont use those any more" even mini is wise to how crappy cvts are. Now the auto has issues if i put it in green mode. Even though the car has 2300 miles on it. In green mode there is a shudder if im stopped on a hill. If i try to drive slow through a parking lot it drives real jerky. Kind of like a kid learning to drive stick. Its like the car does not know how to use a clutch. But put it in sport none of those issues and the car drives at about 800 more rpm when in sport. In green mode if im doing 15mph that car is under 1000rpm. Thats just too low. That trans will not last if the owner only drives in green. Even going up hills the car is about 1200 rpm at 45mph in green and 2000rpm in sport. Sport just operates car more normally.
Saw the HUD @8:30 like my Accord 2.0t Touring has. It's a little hard to see during the day in full sun light, but at night it's very nice to have. Keeps your eyes from having to do down to the dash for your speedo.
I have a 2012 advanced technology MDX. I love the thing although that was the year they had the class action lawsuit for all the oil leaks in the piston rings With the quality of Honda going downhill I wonder if these will have the same issues that the rest of the fleet is having
Honda / Acura in OHIO and LA employs americans to style, design, develop, and build MDX's. I'm one of those.... Don't discount us so quickly based on price alone. Consider who your supporting. Shalom
I haven’t had a car payment in 15 years. I expect my 2005 Toyota Matrix and 2008 Honda Element combined have at least another 300K miles left in them. Low maintenance! I can’t fathom buying a car for $40K, much less $75K! For that, I’d rather build an addition on my house.
I recently bought a used 2013 Acura RDX. I love the vehicle and it was cheaper than a CRV with the same miles. I wouldn't mind a little more cargo space, but I didn't need it as it's just me and my son. What a terrific value for a nice vehicle!
This is the best American car on the market. They don't even have these in Japan...American designed, American built with Japanese technology. It's more American than an iPhone.
@@bogeybichon7000 . True. Its minor stuff. I turn mine off the moment I start the car. The main thing is that I have a traditional transmission, a big enough engine to handle the turbo, and none of that EV crap. Only down side is the low mpg but I don't drive much so its a fair trade off.
I own a 2006 MDX with 330K miles. I barely know what the engine looks like. Every warning light on the dash has been on for 200K miles easy. It fixes itself. Purrs like a kitten. I’m trying to find one with a few less miles on the cheap. Amazing vehicle.
Still using a Timing BELT? Arg! I have a 2005 Acura TL with a Belt.. but it idles smooth at 135k miles. Only had 1 electronic issue. 1 ignition coil went bad. I replaced it myself in just a few minutes with no special tools. Plentiful engine access goes a long way. I heard the new CIVIC's have timing CHAIN's. Why is Acura still using Belts?? It takes away from the "reliable, maintenance free" aspect to these great running engines. I mean what's the difference between a great running Honda engine that needs a timing belt at 100kmiles and a GM engine that has lots of electrical issues but a nice timing CHAIN??? If your goal is to stay out of the repair shop then they begin to look similar. Still, I would take the Honda engine over the GM..But having a BELT tends to gray the line between a great running engine and one that needs more repairs. And I think Honda may be using belts to save money
I have a 2020 MDX. 45k miles so far. My only problem is Apple Car Play acts up from time to time. Infotainment is slow to react. No other problems. It was suppose to be a least and return, but the maintenance on it is so cheap; I decided to keep it. Well at least compared to my MBZ is cheap. It also should last to at least 200k miles.
@@jhorton4329 Never understood the point of doing that. Exactly who is that supposed to impress? Women? Majority of them have no clue what type s means. I had a similar story with both my Acura TL (which had an "A-spec" badge, though I alter found out it was actually A-spec), and my BMW 545i with "M" badging all over it.
Also warning with Honda/Acura transmissions!! They do require fluid changes to prevent them from failing due to them not being the most reliable (at least how it used to be they may have changed the way they make them)
I put the OEM transmission cooler on my 2016 (the one with the supposedly crappy 9-speed), and it’s been flawless. I changed the fluid at 36,000mi also.
That's a 3.0L Turbo V6 (355 HP) but they also still have the 3.5L V6 (290 HP) that they've had for years. I have the 3.5L in my 2014 Crosstour and it's plenty powerful for me, and I would not own a turbo.
@@melissasmess2773 you are BOTH absolutely correct, however the way I drive my current mustang (putting 40+k miles on it first year) I dread buying used 😂 lol
The only problem is the MDX is made in the US in the same factory where they make the Cadillacs which are assembled by the UAW(No thank you). The other problem is Honda still uses timing belts which need require replacement every 80K miles and it is expensive and often the current generation of dealer “mechanics” don’t do the job properly and don’t replace all the parts and bolts at least here in Riverside, California.
Thanks for the video, fun to drive SUV for sure. One thing might be an issue is the radar behind the grill letter A in front, if it gets ice or snow on it (like other Hondas) would flag all kinds of error msgs.
For $75k and that small you can keep that’s like a $700 dollar payment on top of a $350 plus insurance bill and that’s being light depending on your credit score
16 Pilot was a new platform, I’d stay away and get 19 and up. Here’s what I observed: no apple car play (if you’re into that) fuel injector recalls, fuel gauge malfunctions, jerky 6 - speed transmission, bad windshield seal.

could be a rare issue, i have 2020 RDX works flawless and very happy with it
How did it die on you?
Just to clarify the MDX is best selling 3row mid size suv! The Lexus is 1st only when 2 rows are considered!
Great video Scotty its nice seeing this new car and its technology

I bought a 2007 Mercury Montego for $800
Cool story bro
That and garbage are the same thing.
Is there a certain year model you recommend for anyone looking to purchase used?
I think Ill go with the Mazda CX70. its 25K less expensive, and the interior is just as nice. the engine is also under rated, that inline 6 is freaking smooth.
Lower hanging fruit 😂
Those are a great value, you will love your Zoom Zoom Zoom. Enjoy!
If those turn out to be reliable they could be a good buy. Last gen cx 9 had engine problems
Is the cx90 a more direct competitor?
@@exclusive605 i think that's what the original poster meant , no other model has the straight 6 engine.
@@exclusive605 it’s the same car with more seats. I don’t need the extra rows, would prefer the cargo space
I can't believe you're 70! I can only hope that when I'm 70, I have half the enthusiasm and energy you have. God bless Scotty!
Always been a huge Acura fan. I think their cars are underrated.
Looks like a very nice car.
They've got terrible upholstery.
Acura’s are nice but I think they have electrical issues like Honda’s do
@@ShamarTheGuyElectrical issues in a Honda/Acura? Have you ever owned a Mercedes? That’s REAL electrical issues…
@@kenandbarbie-b6c Its to be expected with the Germans. Not with the Japanese.
Saw the HUD @8:30 like my Accord 2.0t Touring has. It's a little hard to see during the day in full sun light, but at night it's very nice to have. Keeps your eyes from having to do down to the dash for your speedo.
I have a 2012 advanced technology MDX. I love the thing although that was the year they had the class action lawsuit for all the oil leaks in the piston rings
With the quality of Honda going downhill I wonder if these will have the same issues that the rest of the fleet is having
Kids we can only dream to live a life like Scotty, 70 years & still trucking!
Scotty! New cars/ Trucks are almost unfixable! 😎
75k I’ll pass ridiculous price should be half that
I would buy an Acura before a Honda anyways 😂
Silly. $35K. LOL
That's normal price these days. An MDX cost $40k in 2005.You're about 20 years behind the times.
Honda / Acura in OHIO and LA employs americans to style, design, develop, and build MDX's. I'm one of those....
Don't discount us so quickly based on price alone. Consider who your supporting.

Its 75 for that trim level, the Type S. The base model is 50
I haven’t had a car payment in 15 years. I expect my 2005 Toyota Matrix and 2008 Honda Element combined have at least another 300K miles left in them. Low maintenance! I can’t fathom buying a car for $40K, much less $75K! For that, I’d rather build an addition on my house.
😂
Good for you, CAROL.
Honda Element alone should go a million miles if it was maintained properly

@@AlexT2048Because the ones I have are great. I’d rather spend my money on other things I enjoy.
I have 2014 MDX current mileage is 151000 miles. still feels fresh. Love my MDX.
I recently bought a used 2013 Acura RDX. I love the vehicle and it was cheaper than a CRV with the same miles. I wouldn't mind a little more cargo space, but I didn't need it as it's just me and my son. What a terrific value for a nice vehicle!
I love my 2016 shawd TLX with the advanced package. Currently have a 150000
This is the best American car on the market. They don't even have these in Japan...American designed, American built with Japanese technology. It's more American than an iPhone.
Rubber belts are way quieter and smoother
Never even thought of that, That's a good one
I have a question. If the MDX is brand new, with all its technology, why is Scotty looking at it? Did something break already?
No he's just an influencer and given a car for free. So he makes vids
Beautiful! I love my 23' RDX! Non of that compliance garbage!
What compliance? It has an auto start/stop...at least in Canada it does.
I’ve owned a 23’ RDX (fully loaded) for about a year …. LOVE IT. Just wish I could permanently keep the start/stop off though.

7:00 Timing belt lol.
9:05 Palisade a better buy.
Jeez, when I sold acuras in 04 the mdx was about 44k loaded
Which, with inflation, is like $72k now.
I bought a new 04 MDX and it was 36k .. base model... but very nicely equipped (AWD too).
The machine is called flipper zero. And ive saved a ton car rentals since purchasing one.
75k??? The heck is wrong with car prices?
It’s insane!!!!
No one is actually paying this, as that's just sticker price. I paid $67K for mine about 9 months ago...
Please don't tell me in an expensive modern vehicle like this Acura is still using timing belts?🤔
Should be locking up the actual wheels than the steering wheel
2019 MDX and I love it!!
I'm not a thief either, but when I used to repo cars, I'd get passed those in a snap, either by picking or breaking.

Do they use the same engine and transmission in the new 2024 Honda Pilot?
Nope... the pilot is nowhere close to being on this level.

352 horsepower out of a 3.0L 🧐
That's a 3.0L Turbo V6 (355 HP) but they also still have the 3.5L V6 (290 HP) that they've had for years. I have the 3.5L in my 2014 Crosstour and it's plenty powerful for me, and I would not own a turbo.
