Soooo, which would you buy, the NEW Camry or Honda same year ??
@scottykilmer Please review the new Hyundai Elantra 2.0L gas 2021-2024. They have ivt transmission and atkinson engine.
They changed things after issues.🎉
hybrid cars' batteries suffer the same danger as any other electric vehicle. I can show you many TH-camrs trying to save those batteries for conversions. Or, you just research about it. Scotty. Floods are no good to any car unless it is built as a boat like in the navy
I have a serious question, in my country there are no japanese cars dealerships, I love TOYOTA but Unfortunately I can't buy one, what car should I buy??
As the owner of this particular honda accord that was reviewed I have to be honest and say I've never had more fun in a car while also being relatively economical. The Camry cheer leading reminds me of team AMD vs Team Intel. The truth is that both are probably fantastic cars and do the job well enough. After that it's simply a matter for personal preference.
That is what a lot of people are saying. I just want a simple car that doesn't have a lot of electronics that will cost you an arm and a leg to fix.
@@partain2000 well thats unfortunately just not a reasonable thing to want anymore since none are built that way.
@@partain2000 Me too, I hate all the worthless crap put in cars that nobody really needs, Its all about marketing, a month after you've bought the vehicle you realize most of these things you won't even use, Its all about the thrill of the sale, the latest thing to show and impress friends and family, this stuff costs a fortune to fix, that's why they sell you the extended warranty which ups the payment even more. The more you have the more there is to go wrong, its really that simple.

they can easily get 50+ mpg as long as you use smaller wheels less than 19inch
Ac on or off makes no difference, remember Scotty said no belts. A/C is not engine driven but electric
@JunkyJeeMailhow so? Trip reset?
@@55azguyand how is the electricity generated? From burning gas. Even ICE cars that turn off to conserve energy won’t turn off as frequently if you are using climate control, heated or ventilated seats, etc.

I have a 2017 Honda Accord hybrid since 2018. I think it has the same hybrid system. 2 electric motors eCVT. 2.0l gas engine. Got Almost 190k miles still drives great. 42 to 44 mpg. No major issues. First time I changed the brake pads was a couple years ago at over 130k miles. The car was Made in Japan. Probably one of the best car/decisions/purchase I made.
Edit...
Cons.1. smaller trunk
2. can't flip down any of the backseats. But i think they fix that in later models..
Pros are so many...
This looks like Honda's F1 technology and combined electric/gas usage is funneling down into production cars. It took them a few years to perfect the tech when they reentered F1 but now their power plant (Red Bull/Verstappen) is almost untouchable. Good on you Honda! I do need to preface this praise for Honda. Our last seven vehicles have been Hondas.
It crazy how e-motor's been used in F1 race cars years before the first prius.
F1 technology? Not in this one. Maybe the turbo 4
@@Offshore1977 The reason for the F1 comment. Seems like this is the first hybrid that will allow power management based on need. If you want or need performance beyond the ecco mode, the system seems capable of combining electric and gas power to provide enhanced performance. If the system is a true combined use/on demand use, that is F1 flexibility. I don't know that other hybrids have offered that flexibility.
I’ve had over 20 Honda’s, all fantastic no problems
Would that not be a postface?😁
Full electric is a horrible idea. Hybrid is the way to go

I own the accord 2023 EX-L hybrid took it on my first road trip 1700 miles on the total trip. When filled to full car shows 600 miles to empty. Start of trip I reset the mileage count for trip to see what the true miles would be. Got 546 miles before I had to fill up. Live in Minnesota and it costs $32 to fill up near my house. My car has 17,480 miles on it and it shows that I’ve gotten 51.4 miles per gallon. Love this car
Over $50 to fill up my 08 Lexus SUV hybrid. Absurdity.
If you can't pay, don't plat.
Don't play
Oh my gosh i live that it gets to 600 miles to empty
I would possibly save up to $800 a year in fuel, driving 9,000 miles per year, and probably loose half of the purchase price in five years. So in five years save maybe $3-4,000 and loose maybe $17,500. I'm a mechanic too, it's so inexpensive driving old vehicles. I wish I had a new car but I have never bought one because it doesn't make sense to waste money.
Most people drive 12-15000 miles a year.
I bought a 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid for 23,700 Out the door (sticker was 28XXX). sold it last year with 40k miles for 20k. Cheapest vehicle to own/maintain that I have ever had. Only got rid of it because I needed more room and ability to tow a car trailer.
Neither the Accord nor the Camry lose 50% of their value in 5 years.
Check out the Elantra and sonata it’s the poor man’s new reliable car

They put turbo in the new 4Runner. Goodbye reliability and longevity.

there are new oils that have come out to deal better with these engines. I think so anyway. Even Scotty has mentioned this before. especially if its toyota or honda it should be fine.
If you can't get 130k miles out of a car that costs close to 50k, I wouldn't own it
Warranty + factory is 10 years 150k miles. Cost was 35k all in before financing costs. Seems like it fits your criteria
Don’t buy GM then !!
How did you arrive at 130? Why not a more common reference of 150?
That's all? $25k and 200k miles is my bottom line. $50k? Better be amazing!🤨
400,000 miles in my 2009 Corolla. ONLY blew a head gasket. Decided a used engine because it was cheaper to put in than the HG repair. I'm at 564,000 miles now. Oh, and, I replaced a noisy transmission at 520,000. Toyota or Honda? Pure coin toss. Although, mine always comes up up Toyota. I just bought a '23 Tacoma.

the problem is that Honda is pushing you into buying hybrids by not offering fully loaded models in gasoline only vehicle (Accord and Crv)
Most likely a global policy being implemented slowly.
The non "fully loaded" versions of everything are still air conditioned & power steering equipped with ABS & likely auto trans too, in my experience what more do you need? "Fully loaded" equates to paying many, many thousands for tinsel that won't be clawed back when the trade in time comes, depreciation is bad enough without throwing more into the furnace.
Get the hrv. Can get a exl with a k20
The new camrys are all hybrid also. No gas only option
Stop buying hondas lol at least for me im only buying older ones
I have booth a 23 Camry V6 and 23Accord Hybrid. Camry looks better Accord is roomier, Camry V6 rocks Accord MPG is almost double, Camry is faster accord is quieter etc. etc. good and bad things on both. Camry 41k Accord 33.5 on my particular trims.

I have a '24 CR-V Hybrid Sport Touring with the same hybrid system as this Accord and I routinely get 40 mpg on average (because it's much heavier than this Accord). The vehicle is super smooth and the hybrid system is seamless; even the regenerative braking feels natural. I'm very happy with it. My first "non-100% gasoline" vehicle ever. Charging an EV or plug-in hybrid is a pita. Filling up my CR-V takes a couple minutes and could go for 500+ miles and could go across the country without worrying about where to charge.
My sentiments exactly.I have the same CR-V you have, bought November last year. It checks all the boxes. I had been thinking about an all EV and glad I ducked that bullet. Couldn't be happier with Honda and the products they produce.
I have a NX 350h and will never go back to gas engine only. It’s smooth, refined, quiet. 240 hp isn’t slow but ain’t fast - passing is not a pain. Toyota reliability is why I chose it over Honda.
Love the car but... There's no way I'm going to go into debt for a car anymore. Don't have that kind of disposable cash either.

@@scottykilmer this video stroked my ego a lot, thanks scotty!
I just bought this car last week. 0 to 60 is like 6 seconds, almost like a sports car -- and it's quiet and smooth, like it's not straining at all. Using the electric motor to boost HP is just brilliant. I find I get the extra oomph just where I need it at 35-75 -- highway merging, clean passes etc.
Handles great in sport mode.
And it gets 45 MPG -- just crazy for a car this size.
I appreciate the advice to get the extended warranty -- Honda's engineering is really good but this thing has got to be wildly complicated and so many things could go wrong.
One of the dumb trends today is to remove the spare tire. Now it is even on economic cars like Honda. I'm glad my Audi still comes with a spare tire.
Yea, weird, I’ve always needed a spare at some point in every vehicle I’ve owned.
Most cars in Japan comes without spare tire. They come with tyre repair kit that keeps it working until you get to a shop to puncture fix.
@@AbidAli-bo8sv that is the case today. Back in the older days, I had a full steely spare tire on my Corolla and on my Miata. Yes, a weight conscious sport car came with a spare tire!
@@jamsbong 30lb spare tire isnt going to make a difference, thats why its there in a "weight conscious sport car". Roughly 100 pounds weight reduction equals .1 second difference (10th of a second) in a quarter mile. Weight is not nearly a factor in speed until you're actually on the track racing for time and every tenth or even hundreth of a second counts. Thats why like a 5,600 pound Maybach is still able to go 0-60 in under 4 seconds. Cause power > weight. Granted your Miata has like 2 cylinders under the hood.
The battery is where the spare goes in gasoline-only models
Great explanation of how the engine works. I was loathing going to the dealer and having to listen to them fumble through this.
Thanks, Scotty ! The EX-L model is rated at 51 mpg and 44 due to 17 inch wheels rather than 19 inch on the Sport and Touring models.
I just purchased my Honda Accord Hybrid 2024 end of year sale. So far I love it❤
I appreciate all this information about the engine.
I love this Accord, but I just don't like the simple look. I don't know why they decided to move away from the aggressive look from 2017 - 2022.
OK, I have a Rav4 Hybrid here in Ontario Canada, and yes the salt has already ruined the hybrid cable (6K repair), I took less than 3 years. As Scotty would say, "run" from any hybrid vehicles if you live in the salt belt.
I absolutely love my 03 Accord EX. It’s a manual with a k24 and 5mt. Would love to have one of these! Saw a few in California and they look great.
Never heard Scott used the words "CVT" and "Its fun to drive" in the same sentense before.

Now Scotty is pushing Extended Warranties???? Damn Scotty, put down the blunt brother.
There are no car that can beat Toyota. Number one for me is RAV 4. Nothing is better of SUV. 1:05
Scotty you knocked it out of the park always glad when you cover the bases as to maintenance and how long a car will last. I told my wife on our last purchased NO TURBOS so with that said simplicity is good but that Honda Hybrid technology is very good, especially no plugging in and the battery away from the element. Thankyou I value your opinion so highly.
I just bought one 3 weeks ago. As far as modern cars and comfort goes I’m very impressed with this car. I’m getting close to 50 mpg and the interior room is great. This car is so smooth and comfortable.
how do you do it to get 50? If you don’t mind sharing please tell is it cause you drive slower?
For $2,700.00 if the engine it self blow's up that alone would cover the cost for the extended warranty.
Camry gets higher mpg and has more head room. Their battery is warranty for 10years 150k miles whereas Honda is around 80k miles. If low cost hybrid sedan and fuel efficiency is your main objective, there is no higher calling than the Camry LE. The smallest wheels version sports 16" alloy wheels and gets the highest EPA fuel rating and comes in at just under $30k. Hard to lose if that is ur priority
Scotty, thanks for this review, I am getting one next week.
Love my 2020 EX-L. No issue except a couple recalls. I didn't experience any issue related to recall, but I brought it in any way for just in case. We consistently get 52 miles per gallon when I drove, but my near midlife kids brought it down to 47 when they start using it.
Car styling is a step back. I like my 2016 Accord Sport way better. Also, make an option for a strong 6-cylinder. Some of us don’t want hybrids and having to worry about replacing the battery after 10 years. These gas Accords can last 30+ years if taken care of.
Nobody wants to keep a car 30 years.
The trend is government will tell you what you will drive in near future…it wont be your choice! Zero emissions or bust…

I have a 2024 Camry and I have gotten close to the EPA rating of 51 MPG city and 53 MPG highway plus it was only $31,000 with a spare tire. Both of the back seats folod down if you need more room for shovels where my 2015 Camry only got 40 MPG and only 1 back seat folded down. Honda will compete with Toyota but the Camry is still better than the Accord.
Sooo, just how did the Accord kill the Camry????? Seems to me they are about the same except the Camry hybrid (you do know the Camry comes as a hybrid?) doesn't use clutches that can wear out. As I remember the Camry gets better mileage at 51 or 52 MPG and has more HP from a larger engine. Uses an Atkinson engine and has AWD available. Camry has 10 years of warranty on the hybrid system (best hybrid system around, 20+ years) and battery with 100,000+ on the latter, FOR FREE!! And it has a spare tire!
You're right, was the Camry was even mentioned? Also rave reviews for the 25 Camry are coming out and I'm eager to see if Honda can push the lowest trim Accord Hybrid's MSRP below $30k like Toyota did. A key difference between the two (for my needs) is the extra 1.6cuft of trunk in the Accord. Which is - hmmmmm - roughly the size of a spare tire?
All Camry's now are hybrids only.
I still don't understand why this is any better than a Camry hybrid generation 5 as it is also in back seat? What am I missing?
This high tech sounds great but what about the durability and longevity of the new Accords and Camrys?
The same is said about any technology. I think sometimes you have to trust the nerds, and if I'm going to trust nerds I'm going to trust Japanese ones
I have the same engine in my UK Honda. They don't have a cvt gearbox. Its a software thing where the engine SOUNDS like it's changing gear but it's not. Only gear is when you get to , about, 50 and there is a direct coupling where the petrol engine can do all the work. Its an amazing system.
It has no transmission. Very well engineered . The gas engine is very refined and quiet. Sport models have a firm but complaints ride. Great car for the money

NO payments, low insurance & licensing, lots of miles left to put on it & nothing wrong with it. Beautiful 2004 Lexus 330 with low miles. In less than 5 years it will be a classic.
scotty is right on today, the new camry 2025 is only a hybrid with a cvt
eCVT. Learn the difference then come back.
I purchased a 2020 Honda Accord Hybrid recently. I've been averaging between 46 and 51 miles per gallon. Which easily beats the 31mpg, I get with my manual Mazda 6. The only thing about my car is the whining when the ICE engine kicks in. I've driven the new model you have there, recently from a rental car place, Avis. The powertrain is more refined on the 2024 and the whining noise doesn't exist, because they made some changes and adjustments. Strangely, my 2020 has more horsepower, but I can definitely say the engine transmission from electric to ice, is not as quiet as the 2023 and 2024. The gas mileage rocks. I wanted a Toyota hybrid, but couldn't find any for sell, that had not been in some type of accident. Folks just won't let those Toyota Camry's go.
How much will the batteries cost?
Honda batteries last hundreds of thousands of miles
@@ishkaranbrar313 good. Great if they really do that well in the variable climate in the US.
I love my gas using Toyota Camry. The Accord is nice. I’ll wait until all these hybrids and plug ins work out their kinks. I’ll reassess my next car in 10 years.
Proud owner of a 2024 Accord Touring. Factory warranty is 5 years/60,000 for the powertrain and 8 years/100,000 miles for the battery. Car is very efficient yet lots of fun and zippy like Scotty says, not to mention very comfortable. Plan to keep it for a very long time.
Same here! I have it in this red too. Been enjoying it so much more than I expected, absolutely love the car
@scottykilmer, I agree with you on how Honda implements their hybrid system compared to Toyota, but the new Accord is HIDEOUS compared to the new 2025 Camry, and as a Honda fan boy, if I had to buy a new Accord or Camry, I would buy the new Camry.
Thank you for the video. Blessings to you.
As a 1994 Celica owner, I’m still waiting on a new Toyota Celica video from Scotty
Honda does it again! Thank you for reviewing this car Scotty! I've had my 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid for about a year and it's an amazing car!
In my city (LA) the 19" rims are getting stolen on these cars. In NY they're stealing the front sensor.
bought my warranty out of state got quotes for 4.5k from dealer and then I called another place upstate on the east coast and they sold it at 1.2k 120k mile 0$ deductible extended warranty and covers most things. Well if I can get a single use out of it the it will be worth it
I get a modern Honda Accord for the looks, drive features & decent reliability. And I get a Toyota Camry for only the reliability.
You're in the minority concerning the looks with the Honda. They goofed with that latest fastback styling and the 2018-2024 Camrys far, far outsold Accords over the same time. Look around most any city's roads. Not too many fastback Accords around. Camrys are everywhere.
@@frankanderson4176 Most Hondas I see of the last gen are people red lining them, doing 85mph and thinking they are Formula 1 driver. They are killing their Honda's as it is not meant for that sort of driving.
who would beat Toyota Hybrid? Another day i was having oil change in the shop, a 2022 Honda Hybrid pulled up "hey, my car brake keep having weird sounds" , the technician tested around ,,, your brake are getting bad , how many miles? 45K miles ...I was looking back at my 2015 Prius , 117K miles (as of May 2024), the technician just checked few minutes ago, "weird, your bakes are still having 65% left and very good condition"
If you own Prius, you will know the brake is running forever....hmm my 12v battery is aging ,,,time to replace!
last week Scotty said Honda was now trash
now its the best ?
is the entire industry shocked ??
I agree with you. Scotty goes back-and-forth and pushes something that he said a few videos ago that's not a good car but now it is. He said in the past all these new vehicles have more things that can go wrong with them along with the cost of upkeep on these engines.
He’s definitely getting paid under the table.
I'll keep my Camry, thanks. And it's actual spare tire.
Well, the 2025 Camry is an all-new design. I was sold on the new Accord until I saw the new Camry.
Enjoy that cvt 🤮
I think that's not a Japanese Camry.
@@nickt6980 Accord hybrid has cvt also
@@Drg24800 no
@@nickt6980 Yeah, I'm not happy about the CVT. But almost every car has one these days.
Can you still drive a hybrid car (generally) with a useless hybrid battery? Do you have to replace it, or throw the car away?
The new Camry comes with a spare tire 👀
Scotty, please get back to us with your assessment after your check out the 2025 Camry.
Stick with the 2.5L 8 speed camry. You only break even on the hybrid at 100k miles. It makes no sense with the extra trouble they can bring.
I agree. Also they are pushing the I4 turbo engine now. The V6 will last 200-300,000 miles. A turbo engine will last 100-150,000 miles. The gov. is pushing improved mpg, but no savings in the long run when they last half as long. Not better for the environment either.
AWD? MPG? tell me how it kills the Camry?
Great information as always Scotty!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Still have my 2014 Auto v6 coupe. Love it, was really hoping these new accords would look nicer and or bring back the coupe but I guess not😢
We rented one of these 2 months ago. The best mileage was 35 MPG on the highway. We were driving the speed limit. It cost of the hybrid was not worth the extra cost. Highway road noise was noticeably founder then our 2015 Hyundai Sonata.
2025 Camry LE 53 mpg city, 50 mpg highway. Just came out. All models are hybrid. I am sure Scotty has not seen one yet.
We had a C-Max hybrid for 4 years. It accelerated very well, did really well on fuel and we only put a set of tires on it plus the small battery.
But I didn’t like the CVT transmission. We live in the mountains of Tennessee and it struggled
CVT is trash
2024 Honda Accord Sport owner. I get 620 on a tank of gas (when I don't drive exceeding fast) normal driving is 500ish miles and $38 bucks to fill to full. One of the coolest cars I've driven in a while. Only problem is the suspension. Rides hard but bearable.
Every car with a 4 cylinder and a turbo- blows balls. A V6 is where it's at.
If that 10th gen accord sport 2.0 didn't kill the camey nothing will. That was a perfect sedan and I'm a yota guy
Prices of new cars now , I be driving my 22 year old Subaru outback for quite awhile, because I can't afford a new car.
My 2024 accord hybrid sport died one week after purchase. Honda said the battery was bad and they have to replace it! 395 miles on the odometer. This car will not work if the battery dies.
