I also love that they get Thrawn so right. And he isn't driven by ego. He doesn't gloat. He doesn't get mad when questioned by allies. Instead, he teaches, he shows, but only as much as he needs to. He's a master of misdirection, and covering all the angles. Thrawn is probably my favorite 'villain'. He's not a cartoony mustache twirling, over the top, "Evil because evil" type. He feels very grounded, and his reputation is earned and deserved. Cool, ruthless, calculating. Just... yes.

For what it's worth, I feel the ending of the last episode and this episode demonstrates Ezra and Sabine's relationship and dynamic. Sabine didn't need to spell out exactly what she did to get there. Ezra could already tell that it wasn't good and that she was in trouble. The most relevant parts are when Ezra was asking Sabine how she got the howler and how she found him, and she evaded the topic; saying she just wanted to have a moment to be happy that they were reunited. In that moment, she more or less told him without having to tell him in so many words. Hence why Ezra wasn't surprised when Sabine revealed that Shin and Baylan weren't friendlies. And lastly, when seeing Ahsoka and Huyang, he exclaimed how he was now optimistic about their chances of getting back home again.

I am a little worried for Thrawn. He is every bit the patient, intelligent, strategic threat we all wanted him to be, and with the power of the Night Sisters, he seems nearly invincible. Hopefully, the writers have a good plan for him and don't have to resort to forcing him to make an uncharacteristically stupid mistake in order for the heroes to win.

Ezra was perfect in this episode! I really like how he fights very much how Kanan fought from time to time (like when they tried to rescue fake Luminara in the Jedi prison) , not using his lightsaber but heavily relying on the force. And it makes even more sense since Ezra has spent like a decade without his lightsaber and only relying on the force for survival so he is very powerful in the force now, able to stand toe to toe against Shin without his lightsaber.

13:16-Fun fact? Thrawn actually met Anakin in the Novel Thrawn: Alliances. This was before his exile from his people, and the two worked quite well together during an operation to destroy a factory for Lightsaber-Proof Super Battle Droids that was the result of Separatist collaboration with the enemies of the Chiss. Hence why Thrawn is _immediately_ concerned about the revelation that Anakin was Ahsoka’s Master.

Yep. He knew full well what Anakin was capable of back in the day, he knew that Anakin became Darth Vader and what he was capable of in the Empire, and the fact that his apprentice had survived for so long and been such a nuisance spoke volumes of her skill. Ahsoka is rightfully to be feared by the Empire and it's remnants and Thrawn is no fool, he recognizes just how dangerous she is.

The thing that makes me "worried" is that, with the departure of the whales, if they don't somehow either get aboard the Chimaera or tag along in the hyperspace ring, they'll all be stranded there...
I very recently saw a short that someone made here of a short conversation between Kanin and Hera, talking about training Sabine with the Darksaber. He says that the Force resides in all living things, but she's closed to it, wound up too tight.
    Kanin: "Too...too..."
    Hera: "Mandalorian?"
    Kanin: "Precisely"
I completely and totally forgot about that exchange. Extremely smart of Filoni to bring that forward and develop that plot point. Just like Thrawn, he's very adept at playing the long game.
I'd love to know more about Shin's background, how Baylan found her, etc. I get that she's confident in combat but confused on a lot of other points, as if you can see The Conflict going on inside. How these two fit into both the whole scheme and whatever dynamic exists between the other really needs to be addressed. Hopefully will be touched on in Season 2.
Not a Spoiler, just my guess: I think that Thrawn's cargo is a bunch of Nightsister corpses ready to be reanimated by the Mothers, to be used as part of Thrawn's plan against the New Republic. To me, nothing else makes sense, plus the shape of the cargo might suggest bodies.
Finally, I love Ezra only using the Force, as if to say, "Lightsaber? I don't need no steeenking lightsaber!" LOL

Anthony Daniels saying " Leia Organa " made me cry so much, Carry Fisher's death really affected me as a person since Leia was my favorite Star Wars character, and just having C3PO say her full name brought me way back to A New Hope. Like for that specific moment I felt like I was watching Star Wars from back in the day.

Definitely felt like Baylan was saying goodbye to Shin. Like whatever he's seeking, he knows it's probably going to mean his end if he summons it. A lot of people predict it's Abeloth, which would be absolutely insane, but would make a lot of sense. She would indeed bring the end to the cycle... along with everything else!

The moment Ezra refused the lightsaber absolutely felt like him just trying to show off to Sabine, the little teasing and not taking it serious. Then going all out with the force push make me think he wanted Sabine to see how far he'd come in the time he was gone.

Thrawn is terrifying not only because he is a brilliant tactician and a genius, but because he is a gifted leader. He empowers and trusts his subordinates. He understands failure is a possibility (unlike Vader) and treats his subordinates fairly. His followers do not chant his name out of fear, but out of respect. They believe in him.
This is not to say Thrawn is a good person with good goals, just a good leader.

Yes, characters not telling other characters vital information can be a trope… if there is no reason for them not to. A character not telling us due to personal shame and well established character reason is not the same thing. Even if it was a trope, the mere use of a trope should not be seen as weak writing in itself.

    • @DJHolte
      @DJHolte 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Well, the fact is that if Sabine had told Ezra what was up, he likely would have known that Thrawn's forces would've followed her to him. And he could have prepared for such an eventual attack. As it was, she got one of the Noti killed (or I assume that Noti was killed, due to the direct blaster hit). So to me, it _was_ lazy writing -- specifically designed so that the attack would happen and would catch them unprepared.

Great reaction like always. This episode was so good it gave me so much rebels style seeing them all reunited, and the cameo of C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) was unexpected but so hearth warming, especially with the tone of star wars music in the back. I laughed so hard when chopper want to kick the senator ass. 😂 Keep up the amazing work.

No green smoke troopers but its cool theyre just a really loyal, strong legion.
Love Ahsoka's demonstration of masters power, offering help. Like Yoda telling Ventress 'strong you are with the dark side young one, but not that strong', and disarms her then tosses her lightsabers back. The name drops were amazing.
The Hobbit rock throwing tactics of the Noti are so cool, really nailed that maurader. The two best trilogies in a series.

Thrawn actually knew Anakin after meeting him on a mission during the Clone Wars. Years later during the days of the Empire, Thrawn and Vader returned to the very same planet on a different mission and Thrawn essentially trolled Vader by hinting numerous times that he knew Vader and Anakin were the same person. If you ever want good reading material, the trilogy containing Thrawn, Thrawn: Alliances, and Thrawn Treason is fantastic

Loved C3PO cameo. A thought I just had, I think the Circle Ship the enemy has is designed to get Thrawn's Star Destroyer back thru Hyperspace to the home galaxy, like Obi Wan's Jedi fighter in Ep 2. It looks big enough, and Thrawn's Star Destroyer main engines were smashed.

Deadass, thanks to this episode, I've been enjoying Ahsoka in the second half more than the first.
Awesome cameos by C-3PO & hologram Anakin, and an even awesome reunion between Ahsoka and Ezra.
Also, the fight sequences this episode (and series) have incredible. The rematch between Baylan and Ahsoka was brief, but memorable. Baylan and Shin are such mysteries, it's crazy.
Much, much better than the previous episode (imo).

I wouldn't expect much of a clear conclusion come the final episode. I have a feeling we are gonna get some continuation when Mando season starts and then ultimately during the movie that Filoni makes. Remember that Mando is back being a bounty hunter again working jobs for the Republic. Wouldn't shock me if Ahsoka and the gang reach out to him and Grogu

Not sure what everyone else got, but when one of the starship pilots crashed into a Purgil bone, the video cut to an ad. The great thing was it cut right when you see the pilot react and explode and suddenly it's as if the pilot exploded into a Lawnscape electric groomer ad reminding men that they need to check for testicular cancer. Unfortunately, I do not even know that pilot's name whose last thoughts seemed to be about other men's safety.🤪

When you think about it. Ezra has been fighting and surviving all these years without the need of a lightsaber. He may even see it as a crutch. Ezra did in this episode what I wish Yoda had done in Attack of the Clones. Being a master of the Force who doesn’t need a lightsaber, as he talked about while training Luke. Not until his fight with Palpatine.
The Baylan duel confused me. He wasn’t blocking Ahsoka from going anywhere. She was in a ship flying over him. If anything, this duel slowed her from getting to Ezra and Sabine. Makes me wonder if the writers knew the audience would want a rematch but couldn’t find anywhere else for it.
Only explanation I can think of. Ahsoka didn’t want the enemy jets shooting at Ezra and Sabine’s location if she landed there. She wanted them distracted by her ship - even though they must have seen her drop out. Ahsoka then wanted to not fight Baylan but steam his Howler.
