    Got this thing on the drop. As soon as it came, I of course went to work. I was so impressed on how well it played. No lag at all... one thing I was disappointed with and was the whole reason why I bought it. I can't play it in hotels. You need a web browser to access the wifi at hotels and some, almost most public wifi. Very disappointing.

      @@philmcdoogle8709It actually does some things better than the Steam Deck. For example better battery life, no loud fans, better controllers, and games actually look like the PS5 if your connection is good. So this device might be the future of handheld if Sony makes remote play better. I own the Legion Go but this impressed me more because it eliminates the problems the Legion go has.

    You can see in the video that in 9:07 the internet connection wasn‘t very good. The warning symbol showed up in the top right corner. So that was the reason that it doesn‘t run smooth at this time. Maybe some other device made a little automatic update at this time. You also see in the video that automatic updates was enabled on the ps5, this could be also the reason because the update will slow down the connection.

    I used to work for an ISP so I'm very familiar with the fact that by default they all seem to merge the 2.4/5Ghz wireless bands together which is a really dump idea IMO as the difference in performance between those two bands are incredible. After countless service calls where I had customers complaining about slow interest speeds I basically made it a point with every install that I did to separate the wireless bands which is easy to do if you can log into the device directly. ISPs typically also have a way to do this from an app or their website but I still get the feeling that most people don't really understand wireless technologies and so this is going to be a common problem for a lot of people.

      This is not a bad idea if people actually understands what it means For example if there are 2 walls between your bedroom and router you will get better speeds and a more stable connection from the 2.4 band

    • @mmstick
      @mmstick ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@zyaired1849It means you should set a different SSID for the 2.4 and 5 GHz networks in your router's web or mobile interface. The default option is usually to combine them with the same SSID and password so that devices automatically pick one or the other. Which often happens at random. 2.4 GHz has longer range but less bandwidth. It's also competing with Bluetooth and microwaves. 5 GHz has short range but plenty of bandwidth.

    @RGT85 I work for a major ISP and we do the same thing, we call it band steering that away the modem can determine whether the device needs 5 or 2.4ghz. • @ANTORT1993
      @ANTORT1993 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's my Christmas gift, but I took it out of the box already to see how it was working, seeing that my internet is not super fast. Thankfully, everything runs well, I tried a couple of games and didn't run into any problem. And the screen is so big compared to my old Switch, I can't wait for Christmas to play with (I had to give it back until Christmas). For me, that was exactly what I needed. I can't really get into a game unless I'm lying in bed in the dark, under the duvet, with headphones on. I still bought the Playstation because there were games I was interested in but even so, I don't use it much, and it's such a waste of money. Now that I will have the Portal though, I will be able to enjoy all the games I've wanted to play. I have to say though that I don't play outside, only at home and at my friends when I'm dogsitting and I don't have PS plus, so the downsides don't bother me. For my needs, it's perfect. But I understand how it could be a problem for others, for people who travel and want to take it with them, or for people who pay for PSplus and can't use it on the device, that must be really annoying.

    If you have a Windows computer or handheld like the Legion Go or ROG Ally or Steam Deck with Windows installed, a growing number of Xbox and Game Pass games sync their save files between devices, and sometimes buying them buys them for Xbox and PC. Think it’s called Xbox Play Anywhere. Then you’re playing native versions of your games on the Go rather than streaming them.

    Am I missing something this place? This thing plays the same games that you already have in the same location that your PS5 is already in, but it's a portable device that you can't take anywhere. This is the biggest joke and the fact that people are buying this when you could just go get a switch or you could go get a Lenovo legion Go. I don't get it

    About your Wreckfest hiccup. There’s nothing really to figure out, gaming over WiFi has periodic issues. WiFi as a technology will never achieve 100% reliability in its nature. The fact that it worked the majority of the time is a huge plus, in my opinion. That means everything is working as it should. Is it possible to fix those hiccups with different hardware, sure, but I’d say you’re doing pretty well already and it’s something people will have to deal with when using a Portal.

    I had that 5GHz v 2.4 problem when setting up Chiaki on Deck. Had to change some settings on PS5, ideally the PS5 needs hardwiring into the router.
    The problem I’d have is my home is Victorian so built with thick brick walls, so if I go upstairs there’s a chance the Wi-Fi will flip back to 2.4 as that bandwidth is better at going through objects like brick walls.

    Overall you need a good WiFi setup. Any ISP WiFi setups will likely have issues, especially if the bands are combined into one. Also no adjusting anything on the PS5 was needed for me. My connection is stable and the image is sharp and I didn’t have to change anything. I’m using a gaming AX5700 router through Xfinity.

    My advice on this one. This is an incredibly niche product. But for the people it can help, it's a very useful tool. Be mindful of the fact that it cannot connect to public Wi-Fi that you have to get approval via website. The Wi-Fi connections on this device will only be able to be input if you know the direct SSID and password.
    Some folks have said you can use your Android 5G to create a network. Which is a good workaround.
    It's a solid, cool device. But people need to remember that it's uses are incredibly specific

    I think the only issue is that for what it does it's not a value proposition. If this retailed for $125-150 I think it would be a great buy for PS5 owners who want a home portable.
