This is why I don't get into the collector's / numismatic antique coins so much. The counterfeiters like going after the collector's market for the higher margins. I'm a really big fan of the newer Britannia coins with multiple security features like the holographic lock, animated waves, and micro text that are engraved with super fine lasers and near impossible to fake. I consider the new Britannias to be the most secure coins you can get right now.
@@handduggraverdronline I agree with requiett’s comment. The point he (or she) was trying to make is that you can visually inspect a bullion coin for authenticity when it has specific security features. Of course there will be fake coins out there, but the counterfeiters can’t duplicate the security features. If you know what to look for, you can’t get scammed. But having said that, if you have a Sigma Metalytics machine or GVS bullion tester, you can test through the casing and detect if it’s fake or not.
I hate these counterfeits being out there. I appreciate you warning the community. We all need to know to be careful and really inspect what we're buying. Thanks, Silver Seeker!
As Daniel from Coin Help U ( not trying to promote another channel on yours) always says do your diligence, aka homework. We all can still get fooled really easily. Great Video, I collect Morgan's (PCGS) and so far have not gotten any Fakes. I use a sigma and check everyone, Log on to PCGS and check every serial number and even inspect every case under a microscope to see if the case has been tampered with cracked or chipped, I have had some in the past that I have questioned or old PCGS case and sent into PCGS to get re-cased with improved security. It can get to be and expense but worth in in the long run to maintain a true collection and hold its market value. Thank you for your Video's
I don't often buy things off of eBay I usually go through SD bullion or JM Bullion or a few of the other ones, but I have bought off of ebay. Every time I do my heart stops because I don't know if I'm getting something that's fake. The problem is I don't know if it's fake.
I was born in 1964. When I was a little kid, my dad used to deal coins extensively. I remember reading a lot of these things very early, because I had a very high reading level at a very early age. A lot of GIS came home from Vietnam with gold coins that they bought there. Many of them were counterfeits that were minted in Vietnam. I think they were actual gold, but they were not actual American gold coins. So this type of counterfeiting has been going on for some time. If I'm not mistaken, having only seen a little bit of this video, he will be telling us that these counterfeits are made in China. I have one that is in a belt buckle, but it is a very good copy, so I left it there. By the way, this copy is a very rare date and mint work. Of course.
I got terrified when watching this thinking I'd have to check all of my Morgans! Then I realized no one would waste their time counterfeiting my 1921 Morgan in MS-63 😆
Super scary, forget about folks who are intentionally trying to rip folks off, what about those who were also ripped off like the pawn shops and antique mall guys. It’s so hard not to get hurt today, it almost takes the fun out of the secondary market and that hurts us all.
Just bought a fake silver eagle off eBay last month that was listed as real. But as soon as I got it in my hand I knew, did not even pass magnet test. Still trying to get my money back. I believe I shut down the seller eBay account, now I always check the seller reviews.
Happen to me twice. The first time was for four. As soon as I got them they didn't look right. Tested them and they prove to be fakes. In fact I think the Ebay seller was fake. I couldn't find no info on him. The second seller I was able to return them and got a refund. In fact after the refund he sent them back as return to sender. So now I have nine souvenirs. Please pay the difference and order from a reputable bullion company.
I've just discovered a very interesting and foolproof new layer of security when testing if a silver coin is fake or not!! So, I'm new to stacking and testing was one of the first things on my list. I'm a piano tuner. When we tap the silver it produces a distinct 'zing'. But what it also produces is *the same pitch*. And that pitch is the very top note on a piano that is tuned to concert pitch. THE TOP 'C'. Silver zings at the top C!!
@Jack they test for multiple frequencies that can only be replicated by coins with the same metal composition, weight, diameter and thickness yes. Like a fingerprint almost
@@SilverSeeker To be clear. I have found that the frequency of 1oz (etc) are the same. There are tools to show that? Why are they not mentioned in fake/genuine videos?
60$ for the cc Morgan should be enough of a red flag for anyone to know it’s fake. Seen a eBay sale for 1 Troy ounce of gold for 16$ and sold over 10k of them. Crazy how people think they can get a oz for 16$
hey, gold coin for $16 have its uses. put it in bedside safe among fake rolex in genuine rolex box..if robber force you to open, just open it and dump it into their bag quickly before they have a good look at it
I have canadian 1953 and 1967 silver dollars.they are larger then the rest of my silver dollars.and since I own 1 of each I don't know if they are real or fake.
These fake coin holders could seriously damage the hobby. All the counterfeiters have to do is correct some very small errors, and it will be very difficult to tell real from fake. Once these fake coins are resold they'll continue to rip people off for decades to come.
I bought a fake 1901 morgan but it had copy on the back next to the eagle did not see it right away but i was so surprised I am not a collector but someone stole all my silver dollars (about 7) and other misc money i had so I just went online looking for a silver dollar first one i saw I bought it for $3 (should have known it was fake) but I did not know these fakes existed before now.
So the US mint? the one we pay people to create OUR coin wont sell to the people who created and pay them???something is VERY wrong with our government

The price would tell me something's wrong with this coin, there's a man on eBay that makes these, you have to push the word condition to see what it, never buy nothing on eBay especially coins.

I got scammed on Liberty fakes. I actually got refunded by PayPal. So what do I do with the fakes?
@@normantrahan3438 if they don't want them back destroy them. That will get them out of circulation. Glad you caught the counterfeits. Good job
Ebay not my first choice for silver

Hello from the great state of Michigan
How in the hell is AliExpress legal?
Confirming why we should be manufacturing products in the USA rather than China.
When doing anything there is a risk and a reward have to do your homework good job on the videos keep them coming
Me Chinese. Name's Bing Boing. Me put copper in your coin.
Just buy directly from the mint...
The mint doesn't sell Old Morgans OR Slabs
The price should also be a dead giveaway.
I have canadian 1953 and 1967 silver dollars.they are larger then the rest of my silver dollars.and since I own 1 of each

What about finding them?
I even gave it a ping test magnet, and acid test.
The last coin you showed on Esty, even though it was fake, was it made of silver? Plated? Or just metal.
Likely just copper or brass
excellent video
Yes, but how do they counterfeit the coin?
what metal is the fake?
A qucik search of aliexpress will show hordes of fake coins
I SUBSCRIBED TODAY
Cheers
They need to arrest people who are selling these.

Alarming! What is PCGS OR NGC doing about it?
What is PCGS doing about this?
Just found three morgan silver dollar coin a 1922,1925 and 1935 that my grandma had keep away
You might as well as just suck up the premium and buy from legitimate dealers if it is getting out of hand.
arent there any law against counterfeited money?
This listing has disappeared
I collect but I'm very careful....
Why I just stack.
How is this legal?
Good stuff. If I can't hear it, I ain't buying it.
