A year late to the party here but what an incredibly educational video! I loved the obsolete coins. My family and I enjoyed this, sparked a lot of conversation and pauses in the video.
My barber had the first dollar he made & it was a large note. 65 years later it still was stuck in my mind. Bought one and it was sooooo cool. Lots of people don't know about these.
You have an incredible Web Page. You're one of the most Trusted, & Honest Coin Dealers in a Sea of unscrupulous money hungry, unknowledgeable sellers. Christian at Treasure Town is my other favourites. You are both MS 70's in my book.
That's really neat! Love seeing all the various things that come through your shop. I'm a British coin aficionado myself but it's neat to see from any collector's perspective.
I'll make a buffalo nickel concave with a ball-peen hammer and solder a little copper wire loop in the concave part. They make excellent buttons if you make leather coats or shirts such as I did with an elk and a deer hide and Harley leathers. The nickels are usually worn down when you buy them in bulk.
@Justin Whittaker you're making a troll of yourself. Obviously i advertise my business using my videos. I have almost 1,000 videos full of free advise, so instead of trolling take advantage of the education and do something positive in your life.

Thanks for the video. My wife worked at a bank and kids would bring in tons of coins that were MS (not graded) probably after a death in the family. She bought all of it at face value, which was still a considerable amount of money (several thousands but less than 10K). She gave it to me as Birthday, Christmas gifts. I thought it was pretty good idea as I didnt need any more socks. She actually had a $500 bill come in but her boss, the branch manager, gave it to the bank manager.
I'd really like to bid on that West Virginia commerative set. I'm from West Virginia born and raised but now living in Ashland KY. I'm planning on buying a scratch and dent soon. Love your channel. Great work Daniel.

Good morning Daniel from the shaky side of the country. Just dropped by to say this after watching the video Whatever or however one collects It’s fun and so enjoyable!
Love the disclosure of how much you pay and for how much you could sell them. Over time this videos become a good reference with the price disclosure.👏👏
I think you should always have a handy magnet. I have one in a tiny case and is about 2" inches long. I have a box with like 300 foreign coins in it and ran that magnet through for about 5 minutes and got all the ferrous coins out. This left me with coins I could deal with.
A cool video topic would be whether you ever lose out on $ when you list an auction. Do auctions ever slip through the cracks and someone nabs them for less than market value? How do you react? Do/can you take steps to prevent that from happening? (And vice versa - do you ever get an auction where it sells for a lot more than you thought, and why do yout hink that happens?) Does it make you consider selling more coins at auction vs. a flat listing? How do you decide what to auction vs. list at a price?
You have given my Mind Alot of Information to pounder about... Now I must take a nap.. I still cannot find what to collect, there is too many cool looking coins, and my mind wanders alot, and likes to spend $$$$$ So I have to Slow Move this coin collecting thing. Thank You for All that You Do.. Many Blessings to You, You're Father and Family and pets somewhere in time and space, Sir, William
I went into a coin shop I frequently visit to buy coins. Some lady was trying to sell her coins for retail. The owner said people would buy the coins on ebay for less. He turned to me and I had ebay already pulled up on my phone. He said to the woman see what I mean. Me personally would rather even pay more at a coin dealer because you're pretty sure what your getting. A lot of photos of the coins can be misleading or the coin may be fake. I bought one that was ms but when I received it I could tell it had been heavily cleaned.
Very cool!! Amazing what people "put back" or find from a relative. I am new to coin collections. My wife came across her grandfather's collection. I am overwelmed with it. Thank you for making these YT videos! ;)
A friend of mine started buying silver coins advertised on television. 1 ounce silver coins. I forget the price something like $29.99+ shipping for each coin.. so with shipping it was like $35 a coin he was buying them every week for years.. he got into some financial trouble, he had a Business that started out as a job working in his basement, and it became bigger and had employees, all the while he held down his regular job. So he was pretty much working 50 to 60 hours a week for years trying to keep his business , while holding down his job that he had since he got out of the Navy in the early 1970s The business collapsed, mainly because of the people he hired that got greedy and took risks..Ended up declaring bankruptcy, and one of his employees ended up bailing him out and owning the business.. set my friend was selling pretty much anything he had. Tools, his motorcycle, his guitars and amplifiers, his stereo system. And finally his silver coins.. those commercials kept pointing out how the value of silver is going to skyrocket.. well that sky rocket had a dud for a fuse.. my friend called the company that was gladly selling him coins every week through the mail. he asked them if they would be interested in buying them back. they told him to take those coins to a store that buys grandma’s jewelry, unwanted jewelry, coins, things like that so he did. He took all those coins in their special containers to keep them perfect to several places. They all went by the same business practice.. it didn’t matter what coin it was, they would only pay him for the weight of the coin. He invested $35 in each coin. At the time silver was around $18 an ounce. they told him they would give him $18 an ounce -10%, -$.85 per coin transaction fee.. so they would only pay him $15.05 for each coinhe paid $35 for.. he lost $19.95 per coin.. OK so let’s say they were gold coins. The same thing applies. They subtract 10% from the spot value at that moment, and then they subtract $.85 per coin transaction fee.. So let’s say he had gold coins and the worlds monetary system collapsed. They say you buy gold as a hedge against inflation or a guarantee if the dollar work to collapse.. So how do you go to a grocery store and buy a loaf of bread with a gold coin? How are they going to make change? With worthless paper? Pennies?
@kyleharrington1228 Probably not,but his point is they are not going to be a practical way of trade.whos going to set value it'd be how bad do you want or need it,these videos prove that coin collecting is a nice hobby and that's all, unless you have very very rare specific dates in uncirculated condition.this silver gold in case of SHTF stuff is a massive come on.When silver went to $50 an ounce it was because of the Hunt bros, and during the depression the government confiscated gold.So if your left coins by someone yeah you'll make a little money,a little bit more than face value.
I'll echo what everyone here is saying - those type sets at the end are awesome. I'm wondering how high the bidding will go if you start it low at $1?! My guess is that it will quickly go much higher than that. Great video!
I have 4 CC Morgan Dollars from the Govt Auction, in their slab configuration. My uncle who suggested that my mom should bid. Said "the govt grading people did a poor job of it". Should I send them into 3 party grading group, PCGS or NGC?
It depends. First, look up grading guides online and try to get an approximate of each coins grade. Then look that coin up using an online price guide like PCGS’s or NGC’s by year and your approximate grade. It’s the value of the coin is over $100 I’d say go for it. You gotta put a little work into it. Even some CC’s are somewhat common. Some would increase significantly in value by being graded and slabbed. Others, not so much. If you do decide to get them graded stick with NGC, PCGS, or CAC. They will bring the best prices. Please note CAC is very strict with grading.

Why didn't you get them? Apparently your nephews made your dad happy and maybe your relationship with your dad wasn't as close.
