World War 2, the Holocaust, Great Depression, and so many other instances her generation had faced as children and young adults. There are many, many of them with the most amazing stories and wisdom that humble you and fill you with gratitude and awe. But they have been passing on in recent years and soon we will no longer enjoy their company and all of the wonderful things they have to share, like dear Clara... so that's why we have to protect them and when all this is over, make sure to spend a lot of time with them. It's what I've been doing from age 13 to now (35)... from all walks of life and cultures. I have a group of 11 surrogate "grandparents" of that generation that I meet with every other week. When the covid-19 outbreak hit USA they urged me to keep coming to Bible study. I insisted that I stay away until it all dissipates because they're my precious friends and I don't want to risk their health, especially since our leader/teacher has an aggressive cancer. Treasure this generation. They truly are the Greatest ❤️

I loved Clara's little giggle. I love that she enjoyed most every moment of her life. I tend to have an on elderly female in my life. I think it is because I never knew my grandma's. They died young. Now, at 77, I have lost my older friends. I am so glad Clara passed peacefully. She left many good memories for others, and a wealth of good information. I just watched the Italian ice video, and I feel I have known her forever. You are so lucky to have been in her life.

I periodically come to watch Clara's videos. I just realized today that Clara and my mom shared the same bithday just different years. I lost my mom a year and a half ago. I have all my momma's stories in my heart on how she survived ww2 in France as a small child. I learned so .much from my momma and how important it is abd was to keep a well stocked pantry you can pull from so you didn’t starve to death when food wasn't available to buy like i saw during covid. I saw entire grocery stores wiped out just before the lockdowns. And months after, it was hard to get certain things. And look at now, food prices are really high, rice will be on short supply, etc. Having a garden to supplement you groceries helps. You can freeze your surplus or learn to can it up for later use. Ms. Clara shows us how we can cook simply to survive. She also confirms what my momma told me on how important having a garden is.

I watched Clara tonight for the first time. She made lentils, rice, steak, and a simple salad. I'm thinking about what Clara & her family went through during the depression, and thinking about what our Covid-19 world is going through now with sickness, hunger & food lines. I'm crying like a baby because there are so many parallels and so much uncertainty. But Clara brings me hope & comfort tight now. Her family was incredibly fortunate to have known & loved her. So Clara, long may you run on the other side. Thank you for cooking for us. Your memory lives on.

And to know she had to go thru the great depression, saddens me. I started looking around for vids to help stretch, and "make something from nothing" meals (as my aunt's used to call them. And wound up coming across this absolute angelic gem of a soul. I know he's amazed at how may new fans this pandemic has made fr hs Nana.

Mainly because my grandmother is 85 and so dear to me I cannot imagine staying this far from her in her last years however many there may be. I really hope to hear and maybe even record some of her stories and recipes, sewing tips; all the things she taught me when I was a kid and she was the most energetic "older" person I have ever know. I came from a dysfunctional family. I only tell you this because I feel so lucky to have found your Nana. She's very much like the grandmother I'd wished I had. What a fortunate man you are for having had such a wonderful grandmother. Mine was bitter, mean, sarcastic and racist. Even as a young kid, I knew she was a hypocrite, somewhat abusive and a horrible person deep inside. I have no idea what made her that way, but I was not even sad when she died. Near her death, she called me to her side. I was in my early 20's at the time, and working obscene hours and barely surviving. About that time I came to realize that she never offered me any real advice, no one had. I had not been given the wisdom that comes with age, and as a result my life was much harder than it needed to be. Your grandmother was everything mine was not. I told my grandmother that I forgave her, just to make her feel better, but I did not. I still don't forgive her for her cruelty and mean-ness. I only have a couple of memories of her being even remotely kind, even to my grandfather. She didn't even have a good excuse for this type of behavior, her life was pretty good actually, she had security and a nice home. It's always kind of an amazing thing for me when I happen upon people like Clara. I wish so much that I had been fortunate to even have one family member like her. I've always and I do mean always been somewhat jealous of people with a happy family unit. I've often felt like a plant that is starving for the sun. I don't know how to explain it that well. I'll never know what it's like to feel that warmth, and be around it. It's something that money cannot buy. It's something that more people need, and the world would be a far better place. Rest in peace, Clara.

well said. i only got to see my grandma for 1 extended period of time, about 6 months...then sparce here and there over the years before she died. My grandparents live out of the country and i have only been able to see them rarely....i am sometimes jealous of people that got to have the experience of "going to grandmas" or eating "grandmas food" or anything of the sort.....i guess we aren't all going to experience everything in life....guess thats why life is so unfair.

It is so sad to read you story. Not every one has a Grandparent like Clara but when you grow you can become that loving, thoughtful person in your family. You can leave your children with sadness in their hearts that you are gone. You can become everything you have always wanted other people to be to you. Remember that unforgiveness only hurts the one who is doing the unforgiving. The Bible says we must forgive as we want to be forgiven.

This is so very true. I just found these videos, I'm struggling to get by and I am watching these videos to learn how to make meals for my family. God has truly blessed us with this women's beautiful presence. Clara, I hope you are smiling down on all of us and helping us along our way.

Beautiful legacy from a sweet, humble lady! Just as beautiful at 98 as she was when she was young, just in a different way! Christopher, thank you for sharing your grandma with the world. She reminds me of my own sweet grandmother: Catholic, humble, sweet, gentle but strong, practical. Your grandma was and is a true gem! (if your grandma comes to greet you on your last day, you know you're headed for the right place! :). Blessings.

I discovered Clara about 2 months ago. I loved her so much, I Googled her and found she had passed 😭 😢 💔 and I cried my heart out! I just got this notification and here I go again 😭😭😭 she's single handedly saved my family from starving during this 2022 food situation, and I wish I could give her the biggest hug 🫂 ever 😢!!! THANK YOU for sharing this and your BEAUTIFUL NONA!! 😍 and my deepest sympathy for your loss.
Still binge watching Clara and cooking with her in my kitchen 😋 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

She made videos so we would have her when we need her most. Death is a part of life and she went very gracefully, as she wanted... But not before preparing the grandchildren she never met, for the crazy things that will happen in 98 years of life. She knew we'd all have our own "98" years. History repeats on many different levels, but dealing with it is age old.

On a platform that is filled with so much bullshit, this woman was a bright light and a breath of fresh air, and easily one of the best things to ever grace the internet. I regret not finding her channel sooner. But that's how TH-cam works unfortunately. They don't reccomend anything good. If she only knew back then that one day she would be immortalized on a cyber space known as the internet. Thank you for putting her out there for us to enjoy her stories, her recepies, and her beautiful nature, her smiles and positivity. Our generation could learn so much from her...
    May she rest in peace.
