No one who knew Clara ever saw her drink a single glass of water. We all used to marvel how she would only drink coffee. She drank American coffee in the morning and Italian Espresso in the afternoon. Occasionally she would add a special sweet froth into the Espresso, a kind of Crema cheat for stovetop Espresso pots, and here's how she did it.
This Video was filmed way back in 2010. Nana and I were just goofing around, making coffee, so we never thought to make it into an episode. It was nice to rediscover this recently and it brought so many fun memories of drinking Espresso with Nana. Hope you enjoy it too! - บันเทิง

In the last 3 days; I met Clara, drank lots of strong Italian style coffee, made the dandelion salad, the pepper and eggs and the delicious almond chocolate biscotti. All so very delicious… I now think of Clara every time I make myself a good strong coffee. Thanks for sharing Chris the wonderful life and spirit of your favourite person. She was indeed so wonderful.

I love hearing stories of "the olden days" as my grandfather used to call them. I loved hearing how he would have to walk down the railroad tracks after a train passed so he could collect any coal that fell off the train. He's been gone 27 years and I still think of him fondly every day. I wish more people would share their stories. 😊

My mother was abusive narcissist and my father was out of family even before I was born. Grandma died when I was 6 and grandpa never cared about me and my little brother.
Seeing people like her makes me appreciate strong family ties, even when I'm not part of a family.

My grandmother-Clara would always correct people when they referred to her as Italian. She was Sicilian and very proud of it. My grandmother also cooked "depression style". I love watching this special lady😍🥰

Right? I'd love to taste those breaded pork chops. All of Clara's recipes I've tried have been absolutely delicious. I can't believe people--especially her in-laws of all folks--would refuse to eat her meal. What's wrong with having pork in summer? It's delicious year-round.

From what I read Italians have very long strict rules about food, eating and coffee. Probably difficult to get out of that. Especially for the older generations and their traditions.
That’s how Italians (and many European countries) are, they’ll lay it on the line with you and tell you the truth. If they don’t want something, you’ll know it. It seems rude to us but i think that might just be how some people in those cultures are. Even though there’s the Italian saying “A caval donato non si guarda in bocca” which means don’t look a gifthorse in the mouth. Lol

I only know her by watching her on TH-cam. When I found out she passed away I cried. "She was the salt of the earth". Google that phrase. So many good stories and lived through anything and everything. Rest In Peace Clara. My June 2023 comment.
Isn't it so bizzare, that she started posting 14 years ago, old but young in spirit. Now, 2021, after she's passed on we still get to see her, hear her and learn from her. Seeing things like this, makes me realize, that I need to start doing this for my grandma. But 14 years!!! My God, how time has gone by.

Dear Carol, I red your comment abt Clara and I believe you are on to something there. I am 97 yrs old. I lived through the depression and I believe those years helped to define all of us during that time. And I mean in a good way. They were very hard years, watching our parents struggle so hard for just alittle. It was painful at times. We learned to respect and appreciate everything. We used and used up everything and if we could get just abit more out of it we used it again then if we just had to throw it away we did it with reservations. I believe we are headed for those times again. Claras recipes I believe are going to save many peoples lives. The information she shared is going to have alot of value. She reminds me so much of my grandma. She died in 2010 at the age of 92. She talked about the Great Depression too and never wanted to waste food, and loved her black coffee. Watching Mrs Clara is like getting to spend time with my grandma again, even for just a few minutes ❤️
I watching to see how they stretched a small amount to feed a family. We're in a recession here in America, and its gonna get worse before it gets better. I really like her stories and recipes from the past.

Inflation is high but that is caused by shameless greedy corporations. I have been doing very well in spite of the inflation as have many of the people I talk to. You may need to examine your expense and extracurricular activities spending. They can make you worse off than you should be.

What brand/where did you get your percolator? Also, do you know what brand of coffee she used? Or do you have one you recommend?
@@scoobydadog246 She used Illy coffee (a very good Italian coffee). The percolator (or Moka as we say in Italy) is a Bialetti, 4 cups I think, looking at the size of it. (The smaller is a 1 cup Moka, then 2, 3, 4, 6, 8...) The best. Every Italian house has at least one Bialetti Moka

Much respect for this woman she reminds me of my grandma who was born in 1929 she taught me wisdom, how to cook, we also come from a Sicilian family so I really enjoy watching these videos of Clara. Wish I would’ve documented something like this from her. What strikes me is watching another video “the poor man’s meal” specifically she said she had to quit high school couldn’t afford socks just breaks my heart hearing that. Damn. Times were really hard a big contrast to the generation in today’s society. Also mentioning the baby boomers here for my dad. Times were so different then.

When I was in elementary school, they would do that. I hated the fish, and loved cheese. But, they'd ruin the cheese, putting it on top of the fish, made it yucky! 😄

We came for the recipes, we stayed for Clara ♥️♥️♥️
The first time I saw Clara was a long time ago, I was amazed at how she looked like my grandmother. She was always showing me how it was done during the depression. It left a real impression on me. Her childhood home was in Kentucky, and her family came from Germany. Her father built a hardware and lumber yard right after the Civil War. She used to tell me so many stories, I wish I had the forethought to write them down. I was just a kid, what did I know. At 74 these memories are a treasure that I do write down for my grandkids. Thank you to Clara's family for your recordings, they are a joy to watch.
I've had that exact coffee pot on a shelf for years, I'm taking it down and using it to make espresso, and I'll think of Clara when I drink it! RIP dear lady!

I found this wonderful and beautiful Lady’s TH-cam CHANNEL ABOUT 10 years ago and many years later I still enjoy rewatching her videos and reading here cooking book! It and her DVD and her book are still available at Walmart and Amazon today! Clara reminds me and many others of our Grandmothers and our MOMS! That a joy to watch her videos and read her cooking book!

I just came across Claras videos a few month ago. Many, many thanks to her grandson for convincing her to make these treasure videos! I have been watching them over and over.
Clara reminds me much of my German Oma. She passed away many years ago but I always remember the nice times we shared. I am in my 50's and live in the US. Back then, my Oma used to make baked apples, just like Clara. Soon when the weather gets colder, that will be a nice treat that I had forgotten about for many years!
Today I went and bought a freah pack of espresso and made it just like Clara showed, with crema! ❤ Oh, it was so good! I watched Claras video and had my espresso with Clara in spirit! ❤😊

TH-cam’s algorithm introduced this lovely woman to me today and I am really glad of it! I got sad when I realized she had passed, but I hope you (channel owner/grandson) realize that keeping the channel going is still bringing people joy!
