- Clara refused to let age become an obstacle to her abilities. She used a push mower to mow her lawn until she was 91. If she couldn't get a ride (or wait for a late ride) she would often walk into town to get what she needed done.

Clara is still a rock star...sometimes when I am having a bad day I click on this channel and binge watch for an hour or two...love her stories and her memories it is like I am actually there
I do the same thing. Clara Wass still so endearing . And she still is endearing on film and as long as these videos stay up she will spread her warmth to new viewers everywhere. I am so grateful that her family chose to keep these up! Thank you very much.❤️

I have :) I do it every 6 months. Our frigde is little.
I never had a chance to spend time with my grandparents you are blessed to had her in your life.
And we are blessed to be able to hear about her and her stories.

I never had a loving grandma. My only living grandmother rejected my sisters and I because she hated my mother. Her own sons wife! Watching Clara, makes me realize you can miss what you’ve never had. You were so blessed to have her.

@James Dooling - I’d love to ask large appliance repairmen how many people obviously clean for them specifically. 😄 I think I remember my dad doing something like that with the stove.

I remember our toilets water kept running. Called a repair man. Of course I cleaned my bathroom and gave the toilet a cleaning just before his arrival. Do you know he thanked me when he was done . He said you'd be surprised what I have to work with! I never forgot that. Poor guy. Id be mortified to have someone come to do a service repair and the especially that area not be nice and freshly cleaned. Im with Clara. 🥰

My mother and I found Clara over Thanksgiving and became addicted! My mother is a tough New Englander at 88 who still shovels snow, rakes leaves, and lives on her own. She loves Clara’s simple ways and recipes. Thank you for sharing her with us!🥰

Nobody laughs anymore.... I love her laugh. My dad taught me when I was young that nobody would help me because I was a girl....wow... I learned that lesson all through life. Clara reminds me of my mom sometimes. If she were alive now she would have been 94. What great memories to share at this time.
She's such a treasure, a jewel, a gem. I miss my grandma terribly. She was born in 1916. Died 4 months later after her 90th birthday. As much as I would love to make it to 90, if the Lord lets me I want to make it to 80. And be strong like Clara with titanium/bleached bones lol. #thegreatestgeneration

Loved this. Clara’s a gem. Such a simple topic, but love Clara’s take on it. Yes, you clean under the fridge because you care what people think, and yes you put it back before they get there because you don’t want them to know you did it!! 😛Hehehe. Love Clara’s determination and brutal honesty. With her honesty there was INTEGRITY...Something we rarely see in today’s world when people are blunt/“honest.”

Haha, the arm-wrestling! We used to do that with my nonna, too, and her hands and arms were always so strong! She gave the best shoulder and back rubs because she could press and massage with more force than just about anyone else. We asked her why she was so strong, and she said that she grew up scrubbing the wooden floors on her hands and knees, and cleaning and polishing the coal-fired stove (it had chrome trim that her mother wanted to shine like a mirror) every day, and then when her sister married, she also took over her sister's chore of making all the bread by hand. I guess that would do it!

This makes me miss my grandparents. I miss Ms Clara too. All her recipes really hit home. My grandparents raised me. Ms Clara reminds me of my grandmother, strong as an ox but wouldn't admit it til I'd tease her about it. I'd give almost anything to go back for one day to talk to them.

Oh Clara you are missed! You remind me so much of my mom, she is 94 and still keeps her own house with my dad who is almost 96. They still drive, cut their own lawn, cook, and still self sufficient. Clara would have gotten along great with them.

I was fortunate to have my grandmother Rosa who was born in 1900 for 22 years. The impression she made on everyone who knew her is deep and won’t be forgotten. I call her a saint because she was a beacon of love❤️

My husband's grandma who lived to 107 had these huge terra cottages potted plants.
Even until her 90s she wanted them out in the sun during the day in winter and in at night.
Huge pots, like for a small tree.
She'd ask my husband to move the plants after work.
If he had to work late which was a couple times every couple weeks, when he got there the plants were already moved. By her.
She lived alone, with help from family and neighbors until age 102.
Then another 4 years with her daughter, the last months in a hospice.
Born 1899
Passed in 2006
107 years.
Parts of 3 centuried.
Strong women!
Your grandma at 93 reminds me so much of my mom at 94.
